  • Photoplethysmography (PPG) - Photoplethysmography, often referred to as PPG, detects changes in blood volume due to the heart's activity. This is done by shining light on the skin using a light-emitting diode (LED) and recording alterations in light absorption with a photodetector. Biostrap offers accurate readings of vital health metrics through intricate analysis of the PPG waveform.
  • Wavelength Significance - Biostrap employs a unique IR/Red optical sensor, which captures superior PPG measurements from deep within the skin (reaching depths up to 10x more than green light). This ensures trustworthy biometrics. Moreover, the PPG signal from Biostrap remains unaffected by factors such as high melanin, skin shade, tattoos, or other physiological variations that may influence the consistency of PPG devices utilizing green light.
  • Accelerometer & Gyroscope - Integrated accelerometer and gyroscope mechanisms record consistent motion data. This enables extensive analysis of physical activities, sleep patterns, and helps in eliminating motion-related disruptions in the PPG signal.
  • Data Architecture - Biostrap biosensors register raw biosignals, which are then relayed to an Android/iOS mobile app using Bluetooth. Subsequently, the data gets stored on Biostrap cloud servers for processing. Once processed, the data gets redirected to the mobile app and a remote physiological monitoring (RPM) online dashboard for further examination.
  • Raw Waveform Data - While many wearable devices discard raw waveform data to expedite computations at the cost of data accuracy, Biostrap retains it to facilitate a comprehensive analysis of health metrics employing potent cloud algorithms. Biostrap also offers both raw and processed PPG, gyroscope, and accelerometer data for researchers through the RPM dashboard.
  • Advanced Cloud Processing - Biostrap's Pulse Engine ™ is an online computational utility designed to filter, refine, and analyze PPG waveform data for deriving numerous metrics. It ensures motion disturbances and inconsistent waveform patterns are excluded, preserving the accuracy of the results.
  • Advanced Biometrics - With every PPG waveform reading, the Biostrap Pulse Engine™ derives essential biometrics like heart rate, heart rate variability, oxygen saturation, and respiratory rate. Additionally, the Pulse Engine™ conducts thorough examinations of each detected heartbeat to gauge cardiovascular attributes including arterial and peripheral elasticity, along with other heartbeat characteristics that can be leveraged to evaluate specific health states or illnesses.
