Forerunner 255 and 255S

Garmin Forerunner 255 Running Smartwatch

The Garmin Forerunner 255 Running Smartwatch is a running smartwatch in 41 mm and 46 mm sizes, built for running at a higher level. Your race prep sits on one screen with the race widget: tips, suggested workouts and a predicted finish time. PacePro turns a course into GPS pace targets for race day. Before a brick workout, you can switch from bike to run with one button press. Each size comes in a standard and a Music version (subscription may be required), across eight color options.

You're making strides; now, let's take the next step. Get the training and recovery insights you'll need to notch your best time yet.

Get an overview of your sleep, HRV status and daily workout with morning report. Charge less, train more with up to 14 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and up to 30 hours in GPS mode (46 mm). Push your limits with a built-in triathlon feature and 30+ activity profiles. Plan your strategy with daily suggested workouts, course details and more on the race widget. Use a full suite of training metrics and tools to reach your goals. Pay for your post-workout coffee with Garmin Pay contactless payments.

Run at a higher level

How it works

HRV status
On the 255, HRV status, which tracks the variation in time between heartbeats while you sleep, builds on technology from Garmin's Firstbeat Analytics team. The trend appears in the morning report, a summary of your sleep, recovery and planned training when you wake.
Recovery time
After a hard session, recovery time counts down to the next one, adding in stress, sleep and the rest of your day.
Training status
The watch shows training status, which reads HRV status and recent training to label it productive, peaking or strained, which shows when a block needs adjusting.
Acute load
Acute load sets the intensity of your recent workouts against a target range, which helps you raise training without spiking it.

The Garmin Elevate wrist heart rate monitor samples all day and alerts you if your resting heart rate stays too high or too low. It keeps working in the pool, and swim sessions count toward your effort.

The wrist-based Pulse Ox sensor monitors blood oxygen saturation levels. Body Battery, an estimate of your energy reserves through the day, sits beside your sleep score and sleep stages.
