Forerunner 955

Garmin Forerunner 955 Running Watch

The Garmin Forerunner 955 Running Watch is a lightweight multisport watch made to help you lead the pack on race day and in training. You see endurance and hill scores grow as a race build goes on. Real-time stamina tracks how much effort you have left mid-race. Strava Live Segments and Garmin Live Segments turn favorite stretches into races on the watch. Downloaded courses come with ClimbPro showing each climb ahead. Choose the 955 or the 955 Solar, each in White or Black.

If you're pushing toward the podium, get this lightweight smartwatch on your wrist. Train your best, perform your best, and put yourself in the running at your next race. Get up to 15 days of battery life in smartwatch mode for a full picture of your health, from sleep to training. Confidently run any route using full-color, built-in maps and multi-band GPS. Swipe through stats and maps with a responsive touchscreen. Know when you're primed for a productive session with training readiness. Plan your strategy with daily suggested workouts, course details and more on the race widget. Know if you're undertraining or overdoing it, with an training status feature.

Clocking in at just 52 grams, the Forerunner 955 smartwatch will keep you light on your feet and attuned to your body. The 955 Solar weighs 53 grams.

Access multiple global navigation satellite systems, and get access to multiple frequencies sent by navigation satellites for improved accuracy in areas where GNSS signals are reflected, weak or don't penetrate, giving you superior accuracy for how far and how fast you've run, even in challenging environments. On city streets or densely covered trails, Forerunner 955 provides full-color, built-in mapping to keep you on track.

On course, turn by turn

How it works

Turn-by-turn navigation
Directions arrive before each turn on a course. Multi-band GPS, which receives more than one frequency from each satellite, keeps the arrow where you actually are.
Round-trip routing
Enter a distance and the 955 suggests loops that end where you started, drawn from popular local paths.
Up Ahead
Up Ahead lists the points of interest coming on a course, with split times and distance or elevation to each one.
ClimbPro ascent planner
On a downloaded course, ClimbPro shows the gradient, distance and elevation gain of the current climb and the ones after it.

Solar and coaching

How to use it

Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar, black case with Power Glass lens
Solar

Charge from daylight on the 955 Solar

On the 955 Solar, the Power Glass lens turns daylight into extra run time while you train outside. GPS-only mode without music stretches from 42 hours to 49 hours with solar charging, assuming use in 50,000 lux conditions.

UltraTrac mode on the 955 Solar reaches up to 110 hours with solar charging, assuming use in 50,000 lux conditions, against up to 80 hours on the 955.

  • All-Systems GNSS plus multi-band without music: up to 20 hours (955), up to 22 hours with solar charging (955 Solar), assuming use in 50,000 lux conditions

  • Both models: 46.5 mm case, 32 GB memory, 5 ATM water rating

Training

A week of workouts that adapts

Daily suggested workouts adjust through the week to your performance, recovery and upcoming races. With a Running Dynamics Pod or HRM-Pro monitor, the 955 adds cadence, stride length, ground contact time and balance, plus running power.

Each day starts with the morning report, a summary of your sleep, recovery and planned training when you wake. It carries training readiness, a daily score built from your sleep, recovery and recent training load, and HRV status, which tracks the variation in time between heartbeats while you sleep.

Over a block, training status, which reads HRV status and recent training to label it productive, peaking or strained, shows whether the plan is working. Body Battery, an estimate of your energy reserves through the day, fills in the hours between sessions.

  • Acute load compares the intensity of recent workouts with the target range
  • Aerobic and anaerobic training effect feedback
  • Recovery time that weighs stress, sleep and daily activities
  • VO2 max that accounts for heat and altitude
  • Performance condition from pace, heart rate and heart rate variability as you run
  • Training plans synced from TrainingPeaks and more
