SaunaLife HOME Series Precision-Cut Indoor Sauna Kit

The SaunaLife HOME Series Precision-Cut Indoor Sauna Kit turns a wood-framed room into a traditional sauna, in 17 sizes from 4 x 4 ft to 8 x 8 ft, every one 7 ft high. Every wall, ceiling and trim board arrives cut for the size you choose, so the build goes up with no cutting on site. The frameless glass door comes hung on its own wooden jamb. LED strips along the backrest and under the bench give the room a soft glow. Eight sauna woods are on offer, including Spruce, Alder and Clear Cedar, and each kit is cut to order in Minnesota, USA, with the heater sold separately.

SaunaLife cuts every board for the size you choose before it ships.

Cut before it ships

Wall and ceiling boards are factory-cut with tolerances for expansion and air movement, then wrapped and tagged so each one is easy to find on build day. The interior trim comes cut and supplied as well.

A paper-backed foil heat and vapor barrier lines the room, with foil tape to seal every seam. Wood furring strips hold an air gap between the boards and the barrier, which keeps moisture under control.

Eight woods

Choose your wood

The woods come from North America and Northern Europe. Spruce knots can weep sap, so Spruce rooms get smooth, resin-free Aspen benches, Thermo-Spruce rooms get Thermo-Aspen, and Knotty Cedar rooms get matching knotty benches.

Care

First heat and wood care

Run the heater at full temperature for 1 to 3 hours before the first session, with the vents open and the door slightly ajar. Use clean, fresh water on the stones, never pool or spa water.

The paraffin oil in the kit brings out the grain and protects the boards from staining, and the spray-and-wipe sauna cleaner lifts sweat and dirt stains.

Frequently asked questions

Precision-cut wall, ceiling and trim boards, pre-built benches and backrests, the frameless glass door on its jamb, backrest and under-bench LED lighting, and the foil heat and vapor barrier with tape. The SaunaLife Experience Package comes with it: a Verse Bluetooth speaker, a 33 oz sauna bottle, paraffin oil, sauna cleaner, an XL sauna shirt and Stoney the sauna gnome.

The heater is sold separately. You supply the room: wall and ceiling framing, R15 batt insulation with no foil or paper backing, the electrical rough-in and a waterproof floor such as tile or concrete. A wood duckboard floor is not part of the kit.

A wood-framed room 84 in. high, with a footprint from 48 x 48 in. for the 4 x 4 ft kit to 96 x 96 in. for the 8 x 8 ft kit, and a 27 1/2 x 82 1/2 in. rough opening for the door. The ceiling can sit at that height or lower, down to the minimum in your heater manual, usually 75 to 77 in. The door swings out of the room, and you choose the hinge side when you order.

Free curbside delivery by freight to the 48 contiguous states. The kit ships on a hand-built wooden pallet with every part boxed and tagged, and the carrier calls ahead to set a delivery appointment. Two people on hand makes receiving it easier. Note any damage on the delivery receipt.

Production usually runs 2 to 5 weeks, and the order confirmation carries an estimated completion date. A CAD drawing of the room comes to you for approval first, and a SaunaLife Sauna Master then reviews it a second time before cutting starts.

The foil barrier goes up first, from the bottom with 3 in. overlaps, then the boards from the ceiling to the back wall, side walls and front wall. Benches and backrests fasten to the studs, and trim goes on once the walls, ceiling and benches are in. A licensed electrician runs the heater circuit and its control, and the LED driver plugs into a 120V outlet at least 3 ft from the heater.

The lower bench supports sit 15.25 in. above the finished floor and the upper ones 33.25 in., and each backrest rises 18 in. above its bench.
