Bear | Elite Ultra Hybrid
The Bear Elite Ultra Hybrid is the most built-up mattress in the lineup, with eight layers, two coil systems and active PCM cooling. A microcoil layer sits above the foam comfort core for precision pressure relief. An 8-inch zoned coil base carries lumbar-zone firmness and edge stability. A Celliant® infrared cover wraps the stack, and Phase Change Material cooling comes standard on every unit. Copper-infused memory foam below it adds a second cooling pathway, and the coil structure keeps air moving. Pick Soft, Medium or Firm at checkout. GREENGUARD Gold, CertiPUR-US® and fiberglass-free, assembled in the USA.
Cooling is the biggest gap between the Elite Ultra Hybrid and the Elite Hybrid. The Elite Ultra Hybrid integrates Phase Change Material (PCM) into the quilt foam layer just below the cover, and it comes standard on every unit. The surface runs up to 4 degrees cooler for up to 12 hours. Below it, copper-infused memory foam adds a second cooling pathway by actively pulling heat away from contact points. The hybrid coil structure provides constant airflow that all-foam beds can't deliver.
The microcoil layer gives the Elite Ultra Hybrid its second point of difference. A compact, individually wrapped steel coil layer sits between the memory foam and the zoned support core. It contours under load like foam but recovers instantly like a spring, with virtually zero motion transfer. Choose Soft, Medium, or Firm at checkout. Shipping is free, the home trial runs 120 nights, and the warranty is a limited lifetime one.

What Makes It the Ultra
Active cooling, dual-coil responsiveness and zoned support are the three systems that make the Elite Ultra Hybrid Bear's flagship build.
Where the Ultra Pulls Ahead
The Elite Ultra Hybrid was engineered for hot sleepers and people who want the most responsive surface Bear builds.
PCM cooling runs up to 4 degrees cooler for 12 hours. Celliant® is a mineral-infused fiber knitted into the cover, where it absorbs body heat and re-emits it as infrared energy.
Inside the Build
The Elite Ultra Hybrid is the most layered mattress Bear builds. Each layer plays a specific role in the cooling, responsiveness, or support architecture.

The top panel is a quilted cover woven with Celliant fibers, minerals that absorb body heat and re-emit it as infrared energy. Bear uses this cover across its foam and hybrid mattresses; the Cub, Natural and Trundle use different covers.

Bear puts the Elite Ultra Hybrid's active cooling into layer two. Phase Change Material is applied directly to the quilt foam. The quilt holds the surface up to 4 degrees cooler for up to 12 hours under typical use. The quilt feels cool to the touch on contact, and the PCM keeps absorbing heat long after the surface first warms.

Copper-infused memory foam gives the Elite Ultra Hybrid a second cooling pathway alongside the PCM above. Copper conducts heat well, and it moves heat away from contact points faster than gel infusions used in lower-tier mattresses. The foam still contours like memory foam (cradling shoulders, hips, lower back), but the trapped-heat penalty traditional memory foam is known for is engineered out.

The microcoil layer is the Elite Ultra Hybrid's defining feature. A compact layer of individually wrapped steel microcoils, each a fraction of the size of the support coils below, sits between the memory foam comfort system and the zoned support core. Microcoils give the surface a fundamentally different feel from foam-only beds: precision pressure relief at the contact zone, instant recovery as you shift positions, and stronger motion isolation than foam alone.

Two transition layers buffer between the microcoils above and the support core below. Responsive comfort foam works with the microcoils to make repositioning effortless, since its slight bounce keeps the surface buoyant. Dynamic transition foam dampens motion from the support coils so partner movement doesn't transfer through. Together they hold the firmness rating you selected at checkout consistent across the surface.

Underneath everything sits the support core: 8 inches of individually wrapped coils divided into five zones, with softer coils through the shoulder zone, firmer coils through the lumbar zone and reinforced coils at the edges. The Elite Hybrid uses the same architecture. Paired here with the microcoil layer above, the dual-coil system delivers two distinct response profiles: the microcoils handle surface feel, the support coils handle structural alignment.

The coil system rests on Bear's DuraDense base foam, a high-density foundation foam that stabilizes the support coils above. It distributes weight evenly across the support core and prevents the body-shaped impressions that develop in cheaper hybrids over years of use. Without this layer the coil system would lose structural integrity within a few years of nightly use, and the limited lifetime warranty rests on it.
Dimensions & Delivery
The Elite Ultra Hybrid ships in every standard mattress size at a 13.5-inch profile. Bear ships each one free from its Arizona facility, compressed and rolled, arriving within 2 to 5 business days.
The lineup
The two eight-layer builds at the top of the range. Both pair foam with a zoned coil core; the Ultra stacks microcoils on top of that and fits PCM cooling as standard.

Certified & Tested
The Elite Ultra Hybrid carries the same independent certifications as the rest of Bear's lineup: third-party verified for low emissions, foam content safety, and fire safety without fiberglass.
Common Questions
Two coil systems and standard PCM cooling raise their own questions.
