Bear Pro Hybrid Mattress

The Bear Pro Hybrid is a 13-inch hybrid mattress built around responsive support, for couples and combination sleepers. It keeps the same Celliant® infrared cover and the same gel-infused memory foam comfort system. Underneath, a heavy-duty TitanCore coil base replaces the Pro Foam's foundation foam. The coils add responsive lift, airflow through the support core and long-term durability. Bear engineered it for couples and combination sleepers who reposition often. Firmness measures 6 out of 10 on the medium-firm band, in seven sizes. An optional Phase Change Material cooling upgrade is available. The Pro Hybrid is GREENGUARD Gold Certified, CertiPUR-US foam and fiberglass-free.

The TitanCore coil core carries the structure. It runs 8 inches deep and packs up to 1,032 individually wrapped coils into a Queen, built from thicker 13.5-gauge spring steel than the coils used in the Bear Original Hybrid. Each coil compresses on its own, so movement on one side of the mattress stays on that side. The coils also open constant airflow channels that all-foam construction physically can't provide, and the Pro Hybrid runs cooler than the Pro Foam over the course of a night.

Above the coils, the foam comfort system mirrors the Pro Foam: quilt foam for surface softness, gel swirl memory foam for contouring and active heat dispersion, and a dynamic transition foam that buffers motion coming off the coils. The PCM upgrade goes onto the quilt layer, for sleepers who run especially hot. The Pro Hybrid reads slightly softer at the surface than the Pro Foam, rated 6.5-7. Gel Swirl Comfort System
Two foam layers work in sequence above the coils. Quilt foam at the surface gives plush cushioning that wraps the joints on first contact. Below it, gel-infused swirl memory foam contours to the body's curves while gel beads pull heat away from contact points and disperse it laterally. An optional Phase Change Material (PCM) cooling upgrade is available for hot sleepers, and PCM cooling runs up to 4 degrees cooler at the surface for up to 12 hours.

A quilted cover woven with Celliant fibers sits at the top of the Pro Hybrid, and the minerals in those fibers absorb body heat and re-emit it as infrared energy. Those minerals sit inside the yarn itself, not in a surface treatment.

Quilt Foam with Cooling Layer

A plush quilt foam layer cushions and cradles your joints on contact. The optional Phase Change Material (PCM) cooling upgrade can be added directly to this layer. For sleepers who want active cool-to-the-touch performance, the surface then runs up to 4 degrees cooler for up to 12 hours.

Layer Three

Gel Swirl Memory Foam

Memory foam infused with cooling gel beads sits directly under the quilt layer. The foam handles the contouring, and the body sinks in furthest where it presses hardest. The gel beads embedded in it take heat from the shoulder, hip and lower back and carry it out across the layer. The Pro Hybrid keeps the contouring of memory foam and loses the trapped-heat penalty.

Layer Four

Dynamic Transition Foam

A buffer layer between the foam comfort system and the TitanCore coils below. Its specific job is to dampen motion transfer from the coil core, so a partner's movement doesn't carry across to your side of the mattress. Without this layer, the coil response below would come through the comfort layers, and that is how cheap hybrids end up feeling "springy" in a bad way.

8-Inch TitanCore Coils

The structural heart of the Pro Hybrid is 8 inches of individually wrapped 13.5-gauge steel coils, up to 1,032 in a Queen-size mattress. Thicker spring construction than the coils in the Bear Original Hybrid, which translates to heavier-duty long-term durability. Each coil compresses independently, isolating motion from one side of the bed to the other. The open coil structure also creates airflow channels that pure-foam construction physically can't provide, which is a key reason the Pro Hybrid sleeps cooler than the Pro Foam.

DuraDense Base Foam

The TitanCore coils rest on Bear's DuraDense base foam. The base foam stabilizes the coils above, distributes weight evenly across the support core, and prevents body-shaped impressions that develop in cheaper hybrids over years of use. The limited lifetime warranty rests on this layer: without it, the coil system would lose structural integrity within a few years.

Both share the same comfort system (Celliant® cover, quilt foam, gel swirl memory foam) and differ at the support layer. The Pro Foam uses high-density foundation foam; the Pro Hybrid swaps that base for an 8-inch TitanCore coil system with up to 1,032 individually wrapped 13.5-gauge steel coils. What you gain with coils: a more responsive feel that's easier to move on, deeper support and durability over time, and better airflow for cooler sleep. What you give up: the close-contouring all-foam feel and the strongest motion isolation. Choose the Pro Hybrid if you're a couple, a combination sleeper, or you want hybrid responsiveness; choose the Pro Foam if you want maximum all-foam pressure relief.
Both are hybrids with foam comfort layers and coil support cores, but the Pro Hybrid has a thicker comfort system and heavier-duty coils. Pro Hybrid coils: 13.5-gauge TitanCore, thicker spring construction. Original Hybrid coils: standard wrapped coils. Pro Hybrid comfort: extra quilt foam at the surface plus gel swirl memory foam. Original Hybrid comfort: lighter quilt foam plus gel memory foam (less surface cushioning). The Pro Hybrid delivers stronger pressure relief and longer-term durability; the Original Hybrid is the entry point into Bear's hybrid lineup.
The Pro Hybrid sits at 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale, medium-firm, slightly softer than the Pro Foam (6.5-7) and the Bear Original (6.5-7). The 6/10 rating reflects the balance between contouring foam comfort layers and the responsive lift of the TitanCore coil core. The slightly softer feel makes the Pro Hybrid a comfortable fit for most back, side, and combination sleepers. Strict stomach sleepers and heavier sleepers (over 230 lbs) may prefer something firmer, and the Bear Elite Hybrid in the Firm option is worth a look.
PCM is short for Phase Change Material, a temperature-regulating substance that absorbs heat as it shifts between physical phases. Bear applies it directly to the quilt foam layer, and the surface then holds up to 4 degrees cooler for as long as 12 hours a night. Take the upgrade if you run hot, live somewhere warm, or share the mattress with a partner whose body heat pushes the surface temperature up. The base Pro Hybrid is already cooler than the Pro Foam thanks to the coil airflow; PCM is the active-cooling addition for sleepers who want maximum thermal regulation.
Bear uses foams that have little to no smell. If anything, you may notice a very slight scent when first unpacking, comparable to a new pair of sneakers, that dissipates within a couple of days. The Pro Hybrid is GREENGUARD Gold Certified, which independently verifies low chemical emissions and minimal off-gassing.
A firm, flat, sturdy foundation. Compatible: a platform bed, a slatted frame with slats spaced less than 5.5 inches apart, a foundation, or an adjustable base. Not compatible: a traditional coil box spring, which doesn't provide the evenly distributed surface area required for a hybrid mattress and may void the warranty. Hybrid construction works on an adjustable base through its full range of bending positions. Bear ships the Pro Hybrid on its own, and the frame or foundation beneath it is a separate purchase.
Best for: couples who need strong motion isolation; combination sleepers who change positions through the night; anyone who wants the responsive feel of a hybrid with stronger pressure relief than the Original Hybrid; sleepers who want gel-cooling foam without committing to the active PCM-cooling tier. Less ideal for: sleepers who want the close-contouring slow-recovery feel of an all-foam mattress (consider the Pro Foam); strict stomach sleepers and heavier sleepers who want firmer support (consider the Bear Elite Hybrid in Firm); sleepers who don't move much at night and don't need the responsive lift of a hybrid.
You get 120 nights of in-home use. Bear requires a 30-night break-in period before initiating a return, standard for foam-based mattresses, which feel different in the first couple weeks while the body adjusts. After night 30 and before night 120, email returns@bearmattress.com to start a return. Bear covers the pickup and refunds the full purchase price. The limited lifetime warranty carries manufacturing defects from night 120 onward.
