Built in East Tennessee

Beyond Cold Journey Portable Cold Plunge

Beyond Cold builds and supports its cold plunges out of Knoxville, in East Tennessee, and the Journey is the one model in that range that packs down and travels. It is an inflatable tub joined to an external chiller. Empty, it weighs 30 lb, which is one person's carry out to the yard, into a garage, or into the back of a vehicle. Filled to its 83 gallon capacity it weighs 722 lb and stays exactly where you set it down.

Cooling comes from the chiller that stands beside the tub. It carries 7,500 BTU of cooling capacity, moves heat through a titanium coil exchanger, uses R-32 refrigerant, holds the water anywhere from 37°F to 100°F, and runs from a standard 110-120V household outlet at 3.9A. Tub and chiller join with 3/4 in. camlocks, so the two come apart when it is time to pack down.

Hardware

Carry it empty, fill it where it lands

Four things decide most Journey purchases: what it weighs before water, what it weighs after, how cold the chiller takes it, and what it plugs into.

🎒
Thirty pounds before water
The inflatable tub, its insulated lid and the lockable latches come in at 30 lb dry. That is the weight you handle at setup and the weight you handle again when the season changes and it goes back into storage.
30 lb empty
💧
83 gallons, 722 pounds
Filled, the Journey holds 83 gallons and the whole assembly weighs 722 lb. Choose the surface before the hose goes in, because the tub is drained before it moves anywhere.
722 lb full
❄️
7,500 BTU through a titanium coil
Heat leaves the water through a titanium coil exchanger driven by R-32 refrigerant. Beyond Cold rates the chiller at 7,500 BTU and publishes a working range of 37°F to 100°F, so the same unit handles warm water as well as cold.
37°F floor
🔌
Ordinary household power
The chiller runs on 110-120V single phase and draws 3.9A at 450W, which is a standard domestic circuit. A 6 ft cord and a GFCI come with the unit, so the outlet you can reach is what fixes where the tub and the chiller stand.

The only Beyond Cold plunge that folds away

  • 30 lb empty, 722 lb filled
  • Inflatable tub deflates for storage or transport
  • 110-120V, single phase, 3.9A, 450W

Compare

Three Beyond Cold plunges

All three reach 37°F on the same 7,500 BTU chiller, so temperature is not the deciding factor. What separates them is whether the tub packs down, whether the chiller sits outside the tub or inside it, how deep the sit is, and which unit Beyond Cold rates for higher-volume use.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Beyond Cold publishes a temperature range of 37°F to 100°F. The chiller is rated at 7,500 BTU and moves heat through a titanium coil exchanger using R-32 refrigerant.
Beyond Cold builds and supports out of Knoxville, in East Tennessee, and describes its cold plunges as made there. For the Journey the company publishes no claim about individual components, and we have not written one on their behalf. The American Made Chiller callout belongs to the Pursuit's feature list and stays on that page. Beyond Cold's own company-wide wording keeps its qualifier, and so do we: they prioritise American engineering, US-based support, and domestic assembly or manufacturing whenever possible. If a component's origin decides your purchase, ask us before you order and we will put the question to Beyond Cold in writing.
30 lb empty and 722 lb full. That gap is the reason to buy this model over the other two. One person carries the empty tub; the filled tub is drained before it goes anywhere.
The tub is 60 in long, 31 in wide and 25 in tall. The external chiller is a separate unit and needs its own spot beside the tub, connected by the supplied camlock fittings.
Beyond Cold lists a seated depth of 24 in for the Journey, the same as the Pursuit. The Summit is the deeper of the three at 27 in.
83 gallons. That is the smallest fill of the three Beyond Cold plunges, against 95 gallons for the Pursuit and 96 for the Summit.
A standard household circuit: 110-120V, single phase, 3.9A, 450W. The cord is 6 ft and a GFCI is included.
Beyond Cold rates it at 56 dBA, the same rating that applies across all three of their plunges.
Yes. Beyond Cold lists the Journey as outdoor rated. The 6 ft cord and the GFCI requirement will decide how close it has to sit to an outlet.
With 3/4 in. camlocks. They are quick-release fittings, which is what makes the chiller straightforward to separate from the tub when the Journey is packed away.
Yes, and it is the only Beyond Cold plunge that does. The tub is inflatable, the camlocks release the chiller by hand, and the drained tub and lid come to 30 lb. The Pursuit and the Summit are both fixed installations.
The inflatable tub with lid, the external chiller with connections, an accessory kit, a mesh filter, and the one-year warranty.
Beyond Cold positions the Journey for travel and home use. The model they rate for higher-volume use is the Summit, so a facility buying for shared or scheduled access should start there.
Cold-water immersion is worth raising with a qualified health professional who knows your history before you begin. We sell the equipment and we publish its specifications; the decision about whether it suits you belongs with a clinician.
Beyond Cold provides a one-year limited warranty from the date of purchase, covering defects in materials or workmanship under normal use. Repair or replacement is at Beyond Cold's discretion. Full terms are published by Beyond Cold.
