Six Speeds Of Percussion

Hypervolt 3 Pro Massage Gun

Six speeds, 1500 to 2500 RPM, 2.5 lbs in the hand and 51 dB in the room. The Hypervolt 3 Pro sits at the top of the Hypervolt line, and that sixth speed is the clearest thing separating it from the five-speed Hypervolt 3 one step below.

Five heads ship inside the premium carry case, and one of them is the Heated Head Attachment 3, which adds warmth to percussion and charges over its own USB-C cord. The gun itself takes an 18V wall charger and Hyperice rates it at four hours of runtime per charge. A pressure sensor reads how hard you are pressing, Bluetooth® links the gun to the Hyperice App, and QuietGlide® keeps the motor at a level Hyperice measures at 51 dB.

The Hardware

Inside The Hyperice Hypervolt 3 Pro Percussion Massager

Four things define this gun against the rest of the Hypervolt range: the speed ladder, the sensor, the noise floor and the head that heats.

6 Speeds Of Percussion
Six steps across a 1500 to 2500 RPM band. The Hypervolt 3 and Hypervolt Go 3 give you five steps over the same band; the Hypervolt 2 gives you three and states no RPM figure at all. A sixth step means smaller jumps between settings, which is the whole argument for the Pro over the standard Hypervolt 3.
1500–2500 RPM
📊
Pressure Sensor Technology
The Pro reads how hard you are pressing into the muscle and shows it back to you, so the amount of force you apply becomes a number you can repeat from session to session. Hyperice describes it as guidance for your intensity.

🔈
QuietGlide® Technology
Hyperice publishes a 51 dB figure for this gun. The Hypervolt 3 is quoted quieter at 48 dB and the Go 3 louder at 55 dB, so the Pro sits in the middle of the 3-series on noise while sitting at the top on speed.

Heated Head Attachment 3
One of the five heads in the case warms as it works, and it carries its own USB-C cord because it charges separately from the gun. Hyperice lists the Heated Head Attachment as compatible with the Hypervolt 3 line, which covers this gun, the Hypervolt 3 and the Go 3.

In Detail

What Comes In The Case

Hypervolt 3 Pro premium carry case open with five head attachments
Five Heads

The Full Attachment Set, Packed

Hyperice states the count as five head attachments including the Heated Head Attachment. The Recovery For Athletes listing itemises them, and that itemisation is the source for the individual names below. Everything travels in the premium carry case, which also holds both chargers.

  • Heated Head Attachment 3, the head that warms as it percusses
  • Flat, for broad surfaces and general work
  • Wedge, for scraping along a muscle border
  • Fork, for either side of a tendon or the spine
  • Cushion, the softest of the set
  • 18V wall charger for the gun, plus international plugs
  • USB-C charging cord for the Heated Head Attachment

In The Hand

The Pill-Shaped Slanted Handle

The grip is pill-shaped and set on a slant. At 2.5 lbs this is the heaviest gun in the Hypervolt range, so the angle of the handle matters when you are reaching a shoulder blade or the back of a calf on your own. The light ring around the base doubles as the battery gauge.

  • 2.5 lbs / 1.1 kg, the full weight of the 3-series flagship
  • Slanted grip angle, pill-shaped in section
  • Light ring reports battery level and operating status
  • A green light ring means the gun holds an optimal charge
  • Pressure sensor reads applied force while you work

Running It

Six Steps, Four Hours, One App

Start at speed one for a foot or a forearm and climb as the tissue allows. Six steps across 1500 to 2500 RPM give you finer control than the five-step ladder on the Hypervolt 3. Connect over Bluetooth® and the Hyperice App will run personalised massage programs on the gun.

  • Six speeds across the 1500 to 2500 RPM range
  • Four hours of battery per charge, per the Hyperice rating
  • Charging: plug the supplied charger into the port, then into an outlet
  • Hyperice App connects over Bluetooth® for personalised programs
  • Hyperice lists the uses as sports recovery, pain management, stress reduction and general wellness

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Six. Hyperice specifies 6 speeds of percussion across a range of 1500 to 2500 RPM. The Hypervolt 3 and Hypervolt Go 3 give five steps across the same band, and the Hypervolt 2 gives three.
Three published differences. The Pro has six speeds where the Hypervolt 3 has five. The Pro weighs 2.5 lbs against 2.0 lbs. And Hyperice quotes the Pro at 51 dB against 48 dB for the Hypervolt 3. Both ship five head attachments including the Heated Head Attachment, and both run up to four hours.
2.5 lbs, or 1.1 kg. That makes it the heaviest of the four Hypervolt guns. The Hypervolt 3 is 2.0 lbs, the Hypervolt 2 is 1.8 lbs and the Hypervolt Go 3 is 1.6 lbs.
Hyperice publishes 51 dB for the Hypervolt 3 Pro and credits QuietGlide® technology for it. Within the 3-series, the Hypervolt 3 is quoted at 48 dB and the Hypervolt Go 3 at 55 dB.
Hyperice states five head attachments including the Heated Head Attachment. The Recovery For Athletes listing names them as the Heated Head Attachment 3, Flat, Wedge, Fork and Cushion.
Yes. The head charges over a USB-C cord that ships in the case, separately from the gun's 18V wall charger. Hyperice lists the Heated Head Attachment as compatible with the Hypervolt 3 line.
Hyperice rates the Hypervolt 3 Pro at up to 4 hours per charge, the same rating given to the Hypervolt 3 and the Hypervolt Go 3. The Hypervolt 2 is rated at 3 hours. Hyperice does not publish a charge time for any of them.
Connect the supplied 18V wall charger to the port on the device, then plug it into an electrical outlet. The light ring reports charge level, and Hyperice states that a green light ring indicates an optimal charge.
It reads the force you are applying and reports it back, which Hyperice describes as pressure sensor technology to guide your intensity. It turns applied pressure into something repeatable from session to session.
Yes. The gun pairs to the Hyperice App over Bluetooth®, and Hyperice states the app offers personalised massage programs and lets you customise settings.
Hyperice states that all Hypervolt massage guns are suitable for air travel as they are TSA friendly for carry-on. The premium carry case includes international plugs for the wall charger.
Yes. Hyperice lists the Hypervolt 3 Pro as FSA/HSA eligible.
Hyperice does not publish either figure for any Hypervolt, and neither is stated on this listing. The published motion specification is the speed range: 1500 to 2500 RPM across six speeds. Percussions per minute, amplitude in millimetres and stall force in pounds are all absent from the manufacturer's specification.
Hyperice publishes neither dimensions nor a motor specification for the Hypervolt 3 Pro. The only Hypervolt with both published is the older Hypervolt 2, at 7.5 × 2.5 × 9.5 in with a brushless high-torque 60W motor. Those figures belong to that gun and should not be read across to this one.
It is the choice for someone who wants the finest speed control in the range and does not mind carrying 2.5 lbs. Hyperice lists the intended uses as sports recovery, pain management, stress reduction and general wellness. If a lighter gun matters more than a sixth speed, the 2.0 lb Hypervolt 3 or the 1.6 lb Hypervolt Go 3 cover the same 1500 to 2500 RPM band with five steps.

Quiet, powerful

"It is well built. My issue was it worth the $100 for that 6th speed. For me it is not but I'm sure someone with bigger muscle mass would thoroughly enjoy it. Plus it comes with the added weight. Too bad the go version didnt have better attachments otherwise that would have been perfect I think."

Excellent results

"I used ours at the gym that was recently purchased. I’m an exercise physiologist and CES. I IMMEDIATELY knew I needed this. I just purchased it, not even 5 minutes ago."

Worth spreading the word

"We are so pleased with the Hypervolt 2 Pro Massage Gun, that we bought 2 so we could 'dual gun' massage to save time. We have also encouraged family members to try it and they are equally impressed!"

Julie H. (5/5)

Don’t blindly buy the Pro model, choose the model that is right for you

"I’ve been using a cheap, $40 pulsating massage gun from Amazon for the last couple years and finally decided to upgrade. This thing has A LOT of power, so much that I’ve wondered if the Pro model with 60w motor is even the right one for me. It’s a lot quieter than the cheap one I’ve been using, but the biggest difference is how powerful this is. I believe there are 5 settings and I don’t thing I’ve been able to tolerate going higher than 3. I’ve wondered if the Pro model is too strong for me and if I should have gotten the standard Volt model or even the Mini with less power. My girlfriend can’t use this at all because the first setting is too intense for her. My recommendation would be to not go right for the Pro model. If you have bulky muscle that gets cramped and inflamed, this is probably great for you. I’m personally pretty lean and probably should have gotten the non Pro model with less power."
