Kyota | Yutaka M898 4D
The Kyota Yutaka M898 4D is a full-body massage chair on an L-Track 49 in. long, an L-shaped rail that runs from the back of your neck, under the seat, to the back of your thighs. The 4D mechanism moves the rollers up and down, side to side, in and out, and changes speed. A wireless charging pad in the armrest takes your phone. Twelve programs sit on a colour remote. A joystick beside it jumps between them. It weighs 304 lbs. and fits users 5 ft 4 in. to 6 ft 7 in. It comes in black or brown and takes users up to 300 lbs.
The mechanism riding that rail is Kyota's 4D Back and Glutes Mechanism, and it adjusts three ways: the width of the stroke, its length, and its intensity on a scale of 2 to 8. Triple rollers sit under the sole of each foot, an arrangement Kyota calls Total Sole Reflexology, and Complete Calf kneading and oscillation fills the wells above them. Chromotherapy programs run the coloured LED mood lighting, and the integrated air ionizer is a small vent near the headrest. Intelligent voice command answers spoken instructions, so a program change does not mean reaching for the handset. Across the front the chair measures 35 in., and the seat is 18 in. deep. Zero Wall Fit pushes the seat forward as the backrest lowers, so 2 in. behind the chair is enough.
The hardware
The rail sets how far the rollers travel and the 4D mechanism sets how deep they go. Everything else on this chair is fitted around that pairing, at the armrest, under the feet and in the cabin.
Standard kit
Every Yutaka M898 leaves the warehouse with all of it fitted. Black and brown are the same chair with different upholstery.
Closer look
The track runs 49 in. from the top of the backrest to the end of its curve beneath the seat. On an S-shaped rail the rollers reach the base of the spine and stop. The L shape keeps them in contact as the rail turns under you, which is why Kyota names the glutes in the mechanism itself. Over a full program the coverage takes in the neck and shoulders, the back, the arms, the glutes, the calves and the feet.
The handset is a colour menu-driven remote with a leather back, and it stores in a pouch on the side of the chair. Twelve auto programs sit on its menu with customizable manual settings underneath for building your own. The joystick on the armrest reaches those same auto programs with one thumb. Intelligent voice command covers the same ground spoken aloud, and Kyota publishes a Yutaka 4D app on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Upright the Yutaka is 35 in. across the front and 67 in. long. Reclined it stretches to 73 in. and drops to 37 in. at the side. Behind the backrest you need 2 in. and no more, because Zero Wall Fit takes the seat forward on the same motion that lowers the back. Plan the delivery around 304 lbs. of chair and a route wide enough to take it.
Compare
A 4D back mechanism is common to all three. What differs is the frame around it: 49 in. of track on the Yutaka, 44 in. on the Hatsumei, and 323.4 lbs. of Kansha built out to take a 6 ft 9 in. user.

"Though the assembly wasn't easy for one person, two people should be a lot better. The chair itself is well made and all of the features are incredible. Besides all of the automatic massage options, the air ionizer, bluetooth - so you can play music from your cellphone, the wireless phone charger, chair heater, light show, and built in different sounds all work really well. The downloadable app. is great because you can control the chair from your cellphone. It also has a voice command option, but I have not tried that yet."
