NOHRD SlimBeam Resistance Cable

The NOHRD SlimBeam Resistance Cable is the running cable for the NOHRD SlimBeam cable machine, sold in three transmission ratios: 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1. A SlimBeam leaves the factory fitted with a 3:1 cable, so 3:1 is the like-for-like replacement and 2:1 or 1:1 are the cables you fit to change what the stack feels like at the handle.

The cable is the part you change to move the resistance range without touching the plates, so the ratio you choose is the only real decision on it. A higher ratio number puts less resistance in your hands and finer steps between the plates, and a lower number does the reverse. At 3:1 the 75 kg stack of 15 rubberised plates gives 0.83 to 12.5 kg on a single extension and 1.65 to 25 kg on a double; at 2:1 it gives 1.25 to 18.75 kg and 2.5 to 37.5 kg; at 1:1 it gives 2.5 to 37.5 kg and 5 to 75 kg. Cable length tracks the ratio, a 2:1 cable being twice the length of a 1:1, and extension on the SlimBeam cable machine reaches 8 m.
