Osaki | 4D Achilles
The Osaki 4D Achilles is a 4D massage chair with a footrest that turns a full 360 degrees, clockwise, counterclockwise and alternating between the two. Air cells squeeze your calf and foot rollers work your sole, and on this chair the joint between them moves too. The whole foot section turns, so your ankle travels through the arc while your calf stays in the well above, a movement found nowhere else in the Osaki line. Above the footrest, its 4D rollers move in and out of the backrest and change speed mid-stroke, and it comes in Black, Brown and Taupe.
Above the footrest sits a conventional 4D chair, and a well equipped one. A 4D massage mechanism runs an SL-track from your neck to your hamstrings. An S-track is the shorter shape, finishing at the lower back. Computerized body scanning reads you at the start of every session. Forty air cells handle full body air massage, and a carbon fiber lumbar heating system works at three intensity levels. A 3D massage chair is the kind where depth becomes a setting you choose, and this one shifts that depth while the pass is running. Nineteen auto programs sit on top of six massage styles. Voice control answers to "Hey Alice", so you can change either one without sitting up. Space saving technology brings the chair to a full recline 2.5 in. from your wall. Rated to 260 lb, in Black, Brown and Taupe.
Inside the chair
The 4D Achilles turns its attention to everything below your knee, adding a footrest that rotates through a full circle to a chair that already has a 4D mechanism, an SL-track and 40 air cells.
The numbers
Every feature on the 4D Achilles is standard in all three colors, so Black, Brown and Taupe all carry the same 360-degree footrest, 40 air cells and three levels of lumbar heat.
Closer look
Three things happen below your knee at once. The footrest rotates a full 360 degrees, clockwise, counterclockwise or alternating between the two, with the alternating mode reversing direction as it runs. Calf kneading works the muscle above it while air cells from the 40-cell system wrap your calves and feet and squeeze in sequence. The rotation is the piece you will not find anywhere else in the Osaki line, and you notice it on the first session. Your foot travels through a full circle while your calf stays held in the well, and the rest of you stays put against the backrest.
The 4D Achilles takes a touchscreen or your voice. The touchscreen holds all 19 auto programs and the six massage styles beneath them. Voice control answers to "Hey Alice" or "Hi Alice" followed by a preset command. A USB charger sits alongside the touchscreen, and surround sound Bluetooth speakers are built in, so your session runs with your own audio playing from the headrest.
The 4D massage mechanism adjusts speed, intensity and width, and its manipulators travel vertically and extend front to back for depth. The speed of that in-and-out travel changes as the stroke runs, and that change of pace is the fourth D. They ride an SL-track that reaches from your neck to your hamstrings. Before any of it starts, computerized body scanning measures your height and the contour of your back, so the roller path lands where your spine actually is. Two-stage zero gravity takes the chair into either of two reclined positions, and space saving technology gets it there with 2.5 in. of clearance behind.
Compare
Osaki's 4D chairs at this level share a 4D mechanism, and the Achilles spends its hardware on rotation at the ankles, where the others go for air coverage across the body or heat in the rollers themselves.
