Power Plate
The my5 is the first Power Plate platform with a handled column, and the first that lets you pick any whole number between 30 and 40 Hz. Eleven frequencies, in 1 Hz increments, against the three set points on the MOVE. A 5 in. touchscreen LCD console sits at the top of the column, and a nine-minute timer runs the session.
Underneath the electronics it is a 153 lb machine measuring 27 x 38.5 x 58 in., with a 27 x 23 x 10 in. platform and a 300 lb maximum load. Power is AC 100-240V at 160-320 VA, and the unit is CE marked. The finish is matte black.
The current revision is the one we sell. It brings the 5 in. touchscreen and a lower repeat button that replays your last session, alongside the DualSync Twin Motor System, the quick start programs and a remote control. It ships White Glove with a three-year hardware term.
The machine
Four published differences separate the my5 from the columnless platforms below it. All four are on Power Plate's specification for the current unit.
01
The band is 30 to 40 Hz and you can select any whole number inside it, which is eleven settings. The MOVE covers the same band with three set points. This is the largest single difference between the two machines and the reason to spend the extra.
11 settings
02
Frequency, amplitude and time are set on a 5 in. LCD touchscreen at the top of the column. It is new on the current revision; earlier my5 units carried a button display with no screen size published.
5 in. LCD
03
Power Plate names a twin motor system on the my5 and states that it holds balance across frequency and amplitude settings. No wattage or motor rating is published, so the name is as far as the specification goes.
Twin motors
04
The countdown runs up to nine minutes. Alongside it are quick start programs for flexibility, core, strength and massage, a secondary timer, and a lower repeat button that runs your last session again without walking back to the console.
Up to 9 min
Ownership
The my5 is the point in the range where delivery, footprint and floor loading start to matter. Here is what the specification says about all three.
01
178.2 lb in its packaging. This is not a machine one person carries upstairs.
02
The column brings the console to standing height and gives you handles to hold.
03
The same rating as the MOVE. The my8 goes to 350 lb and the pro5 to 400 lb.
04
Freight with a scheduled appointment and installation, no parcel on the doorstep.
05
A set of three ships with the machine, along with hand straps and an exercise poster.
06
Two of them, one for the column and one for the platform.
07
AC 100-240V at 160-320 VA. No dedicated circuit is specified.
08
3 years hardware, 1 year electronics, 1 year labor in the United States.
In detail
Console
The 5 in. LCD touchscreen sets frequency anywhere from 30 to 40 Hz in single hertz, picks Low or High amplitude, and runs the timer up to nine minutes. Four quick start programs are stored on it, covering flexibility, core, strength and massage. A lower repeat button on the frame replays your last session from platform level, and a remote control is supplied as well, so there are three ways to start the machine.
Frame and delivery
The machine stands 27 x 38.5 x 58 in. and the platform itself is 27 x 23 x 10 in. Assembled weight is 153 lb, and 178.2 lb boxed, which is why this model ships White Glove, on a freight appointment with installation. Measure the room before you order: the column needs headroom above 58 in. and the footprint needs a little over three feet of depth to stand clear of a wall.
The range
The my5 is the first home platform with a column. Below it the MOVE keeps things portable; above it the my8 adds video programming and cables. Figures come from Power Plate's product comparison chart.
The living-room platform. Three set frequencies, four finishes, still liftable at 85 lb.
You're Here
The first with a column and a touchscreen, and the first that steps frequency by 1 Hz.
Adds video programming, proMotion cables and a 350 lb user limit.
Questions
30 to 40 Hz, adjustable in 1 Hz increments. That is eleven selectable frequencies. The MOVE covers the same band with three set points, the my8 runs 30-45 Hz in 1 Hz steps, and the pro5 runs 25-50 Hz in 1 Hz steps.
Yes. The unit we sell carries a 5 in. touchscreen LCD console and a lower repeat button, and it steps frequency by 1 Hz with a nine-minute timer. Earlier my5 machines had three set frequencies, a 30 or 60 second timer and a button display. If you are cross-shopping against an older listing, those are the four things that changed.
A control mounted low on the machine that runs your last session again. It saves reaching up to the console between sets. It is one of the two features Power Plate calls out as new on the current revision, the other being the 5 in. touchscreen.
Up to nine minutes on the countdown timer. There is also a secondary timer on the console, and four quick start programs covering flexibility, core, strength and massage.
300 lb / 136 kg, the same as the MOVE. Above the my5, the my8 is rated to 350 lb and the pro5 to 400 lb.
The machine is 27 x 38.5 x 58 in. / 68 x 98 x 148 cm and the platform is 27 x 23 x 10 in. Allow headroom above the 58 in. column and enough depth to stand clear of a wall. Some older listings gave the depth as 36 in. and the platform as 27 x 28 in.; both are wrong against the current specification.
153 lb / 69 kg assembled and 178.2 lb / 81 kg in its packaging. Plan the route into the room before delivery day.
Yes. A remote control ships with the my5, alongside the touchscreen console and the lower repeat button. The my8 and the pro5 do not include a remote.
Hand straps in a set of two, a rubber mat set of three, the remote control, instructions for use, an exercise poster, the power cord and dust covers for both the column and the platform.
AC 100-240V, drawing 160-320 VA in operation. The unit is CE marked. Power Plate publishes no other certification for this model, and we do not add any.
White Glove. Freight delivery with a scheduled appointment and installation, which is standard from the my5 upward. The Personal and MOVE are the only two platforms that ship by UPS.
In the United States, 3 years hardware, 1 year electronics, 1 year labor. Outside the United States, Power Plate publishes 2 years on all three.
Two settings, published as Low and High. Power Plate gives no millimetre value for either on any platform in this range, so we cannot quote one. Frequency is the figure that is published precisely on this model.
The my8 adds video programming on its touchscreen, retractable proMotion cables, a 30-45 Hz band and a 350 lb user limit, and it weighs 245 lb. The my5 stops at 40 Hz and 300 lb, includes a remote that the my8 does not, and is nearly a hundred pounds lighter. Both come with a column, a touchscreen, White Glove delivery and the same warranty.
