Power Plate
The my8 is the top of Power Plate's home range. It runs 30 to 45 Hz in 1 Hz increments, which is 16 selectable frequencies, and its timer moves in 15 second increments up to nine minutes continuous. The touchscreen console carries video programming, and Power Plate states it holds over 250 coach-led workouts and a library of 1000 exercises.
It is also the only home model with retractable proMotion cables. Power Plate's electronic proMOTION system offers three preset resistance settings selected from the console, with no manual adjustment at the cable.
The machine measures 33 x 39 x 59 in., weighs 245 lb, and is rated to a 350 lb maximum user weight. The platform is 33 x 24 x 10 in. Delivery is White Glove with installation, and the warranty is three years hardware, one year electronics, one year labor.
The machine
The two home column machines share a shape and a warranty. These are the published differences that account for the gap between them.
01
Retractable resistance cables run from the column and are controlled electronically. Power Plate publishes three preset resistance settings, chosen with one button and with no manual adjustment required. No home model below the my8 has them.
3 resistance presets
02
The touchscreen plays video content. Power Plate states the my8 carries over 250 coach-led workouts and a library of 1000 unique exercises. Its page does not say whether that library needs a subscription, so ask us and we will confirm with the rep before you order.
250 workouts, per Power Plate
03
Five hertz more headroom than the my5, still selectable one hertz at a time, which is 16 settings. The pro5 goes wider again at 25-50 Hz. Amplitude is published as Low or High, with no millimetre figure on any model in the range.

04
The console displays heart rate and syncs with Myzone and compatible Bluetooth devices. Power Plate publishes no list of supported straps beyond that, so check your own device against it before you count on the pairing.

Ownership
At 245 lb with a 59 in. column, the my8 is a permanent installation. Here is what the specification says about room, power and delivery.
01
Ninety-two pounds more than the my5. Pick the room once.
02
Fifty pounds above the my5 and the MOVE, fifty below the pro5.
03
Six inches wider than the my5's platform, standing 10 in. off the floor.
04
Power Plate includes delivery and installation with the machine.
05
A set of two ships with the machine for use with the resistance cables.
06
Two, one for the column and one for the platform, plus straps and a rubber mat.
07
Everything runs from the console. The my5 and MOVE are the models that ship with a remote.
08
3 years hardware, 1 year electronics, 1 year labor in the United States.
In detail
Console
The my5 has a touchscreen; the my8 has a touchscreen that plays coached video. Power Plate states the library runs to over 250 coach-led workouts and 1000 unique exercises. The home screen carries a quick start, a bend-your-knees reminder and a three-second countdown before the platform moves. Frequency, amplitude and the timer are all set here, and the timer moves in 15 second increments up to nine minutes continuous.
Cables
Two retractable cables run from the column, with a set of proMOTION handles in the box. Resistance is electronic: Power Plate publishes three preset settings, chosen with a button on the console, with no manual adjustment at the cable itself. Among the home models this is the my8 alone. Above it, the pro8 and pro7HC carry the same cables; the my5, MOVE and Personal have no cable system at all.
Frame and delivery
The machine stands 33 x 39 x 59 in. and the platform is 33 x 24 x 10 in., six inches wider across than the my5's. Assembled weight is 245 lb and the maximum user weight is 350 lb. It arrives White Glove, with delivery and installation included, so the crew brings it in and sets it up. Measure the doorway and the route first, and plan on the machine staying where it lands.
The range
The my8 is the last of the home machines and the pro5 is the first of the commercial ones. Figures come from Power Plate's product comparison chart.
The first with a column and a touchscreen, and the first that steps frequency by 1 Hz.
You're Here
Adds video programming, proMotion cables and a 350 lb user limit.
The entry commercial platform. 25-50 Hz and a 400 lb limit, without a touchscreen.
Questions
30 to 45 Hz, adjustable in 1 Hz increments, which is 16 selectable frequencies. The my5 stops at 40 Hz. The pro5 and everything above it run 25-50 Hz in the same 1 Hz steps.
Retractable resistance cables built into the column, with a set of two handles in the box. Power Plate publishes three preset resistance settings, selected from the console with no manual adjustment at the cable. The my8 is the only home Power Plate that has them.
Power Plate states the my8 carries over 250 coach-led workouts and a video library of 1000 unique exercises. That is Power Plate's figure, quoted as published. Its page does not say whether the library requires a subscription to keep, and we would rather put that question to the rep for you than guess at the answer.
350 lb, from Power Plate's product comparison chart. That is above the 300 lb rating on the my5 and MOVE and below the 400 lb rating on the pro5. Power Plate's product page does not repeat the figure in its specification table, so the chart is the source we are citing.
The timer moves in 15 second increments and runs continuously up to nine minutes. The console also shows a three-second countdown before the platform starts moving.
The machine is 33 x 39 x 59 in. / 84 x 98 x 149 cm. The platform is 33 x 24 x 10 in. Allow headroom over the column and space around the platform to use the cables, which extend from the sides of the column.
245 lb / 111 kg. Power Plate does not publish a packaged weight for the my8. Delivery and installation are included, so the crew handles the move.
No. The my8 is run entirely from its console. Power Plate ships a remote with the Personal, the MOVE and the my5; the my8, pro5 and pro8 do not have one.
White Glove delivery and installation, proMOTION handles in a set of two, a strap set of two, a rubber mat, instructions for use, the power cord, and dust covers for the column and platform.
The console has a heart rate display that syncs with Myzone and compatible Bluetooth devices. Power Plate publishes no wider list of supported hardware, so check your own strap before you rely on it.
Power Plate does not publish a power supply rating, a nominal wattage or a certification list for the my8. We are not carrying figures the manufacturer has not printed. If your installation needs an electrical spec in writing, ask us and we will get one from the rep.
White Glove, with delivery and installation included by Power Plate. You will be given a freight appointment. Everything from the my5 upward ships this way.
In the United States, 3 years hardware, 1 year electronics, 1 year labor. The same term as the MOVE, my5 and pro5.
The pro5 is the wider machine in every physical sense: 25-50 Hz, a 400 lb user limit, a 34 x 30 in. platform and 298 lb of frame. What it gives up is the console. The pro5 has no touchscreen, no video programming and no cables. If the screen and the cables are what you want, the my8 is the machine; if the range and the load rating are, the pro5 is.
