STEPR SKI ERG
The STEPR Ski XL Erg is an air ski erg, worked standing up, with both arms driving the handles down while the hips hinge and the legs take the load. Its VPR gear system sets the tension on those handles by turning the pitch of the rotors inside the machine, so the load comes from air, with no motors and no magnets. Metrics read off an industry standard backlit console. It is in stock and dispatches in three to six days, and the frame is covered for ten years, parts for three and labor for two.
It belongs in group classes and on open training floors, the sort of places where a machine has to suit whoever walks up to it next. Metrics come off an industry standard backlit console, and the frame is covered for ten years.

TENSION CONTROL
Handles should load the same way on the first rep and the fiftieth. VPR manages that by moving rotor pitch as the speed of the stroke changes.
WHO IT SUITS
The ski erg sends the work through the arms and trunk while the legs stay in the movement. It reads well in a class setting where people rotate through stations on a clock.
IN DETAIL

Pull down hard and the rotors meet more air; ease off and they meet less. VPR moves the rotor pitch through that swing, which is how the tension keeps track of the stroke.

The Ski XL Erg carries the same industry standard backlit console as the rest of the VPR machines. A lit screen stays readable when the room lights are down or the class is running in the dark.
IN THE RANGE
The ski erg is the standing machine in this group of four. The other three are ridden or rowed from a seat, so the decision is really about which position you want to train in.
