Hyperice Normatec 3 Leg and Hip Recovery System

This is the Normatec 3 with the hip attachment in the box. The hips are where the leg system stops: boots finish at the hip crease, and everything above it — glutes, hip flexors, the top of the hamstring attachment — sits outside the treatment. The hip attachment wraps that band and works it with 2 overlapping zones, driven by the same control unit over the same hose.

Legs get 5 overlapping zones and 7 levels of compression across 40 to 110 mmHg, the same figures as the leg-only system. The control unit weighs 3.2 lbs, measures 4 × 4.5 × 8.5 in and runs up to 3 hours on battery. ZoneBoost adds extra time and pressure in a particular zone. Bluetooth connects to the Hyperice App.

Under the Hood

Normatec 3 Leg and Hip Specs & Features

Two attachment shapes, two zone counts, one pump. Here is how the hip half differs from the leg half.

🧗
2 Overlapping Zones in the Hips
The hip attachment holds two overlapping chambers, where a boot holds five. It is a shorter run of tissue, so it needs fewer stages to cover it, and the overlap keeps the two from leaving a gap where they meet.
2 zones, hips
🌊
5 Overlapping Zones in the Legs
Patented Pulse technology delivers precise treatment to five overlapping zones per leg, using biomimicry to replicate the natural muscle pumps and one-way valves of the legs.
5 zones, per leg
🎯
ZoneBoost™ Technology
Provides extra time and pressure in a particular zone. On this system that choice extends to the hips, so a single glute can take more of a session than the quads below it.
Zone-level control
📱
Bluetooth® and the Hyperice App
Connects via Bluetooth® to the Hyperice App for curated routines, or set time, pressure and ZoneBoost yourself on the unit. Normatec was created by an MD, PhD with input from top pro athletes and sports medicine professionals.

Intuitive, refreshed design

One unit, two attachment types, one hose between them. Normatec 3's refreshed design features an intuitive interface and reduced weight, with further customization through the Bluetooth® connected Hyperice App. Everything below is what ships with it.

  • Normatec 3 control unit — the actual device, 3.2 lbs at 4 × 4.5 × 8.5 in
  • Attachments — leg attachments (2), hip attachment (1)
  • Power supply — connect and charge your device, 15V wall charger with 3 international adapters
  • Hose — connects the control unit to the attachments

The hip attachment

Where the boots stop, this starts

The hip attachment wraps around the pelvis and buckles at the front, sitting over the glutes and hips. Two overlapping zones fill and hold in sequence. It ships in one size, so unlike the boots there is no measuring to do — and it plugs into the same hose the legs use.

  • 2 overlapping zones across the hips
  • One size, worn over the pelvis and glutes
  • Same 7 compression levels, 40 to 110 mmHg
  • ZoneBoost can be applied to a hip zone
2 zones One size Buckle closure

The boots

Sized by inseam, in three lengths

The leg attachments are the same ones the leg-only system uses, and they are the only part of this box that needs a size chosen. Normatec sizes boots by inseam measurement, and the size you pick applies to both legs.

  • Short — inseam under 31"
  • Standard — inseam 31" to 35"
  • Tall — inseam over 35"
  • To find your inseam, measure the length between just below your crotch and the bottom of your ankle
  • Between sizes, Hyperice recommends sizing down for a more secure fit

Legs, hips, arms — picking your coverage

Every Normatec runs the same Pulse compression. The choice is really about which parts of the body you want covered and whether you want a control unit at all.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

It applies dynamic air compression in a moving sequence. Chambers inflate one after another while the ones already filled hold their pressure, so the pressure wave travels along the limb. Hyperice's Pulse technology drives 5 overlapping zones in each leg and 2 overlapping zones in the hips, at 7 levels covering 40 to 110 mmHg.
Yes. Hyperice sells it as Normatec 3 Lower Body; retailers list it as Normatec 3 Leg and Hip. Same box: one Normatec 3 control unit, leg attachments (2), hip attachment (1), hose and power supply.
Normatec 3 control unit (the actual device), attachments — leg attachments (2) and hip attachment (1), a power supply to connect and charge your device, and the hose that connects the control unit to the attachments. Hyperice's spec list adds a 15V wall charger and three international charging adapters.
It wraps the pelvis and glutes — the band of tissue above where a boot ends. Hyperice specifies 2 overlapping zones in the hips, compared with 5 in each leg. If your training loads the glutes and hips heavily, that band is the part a leg-only system leaves out.
Hyperice states that one control unit drives both attachment types via the Normatec Hose. It does not publish a simultaneous-use spec, so we are not going to claim one. The safe answer is that the system runs the attachment you have connected, and swapping between legs and hips is a hose change.
The boots do. Normatec Legs come in three sizes chosen by inseam: Short under 31", Standard 31" to 35", Tall over 35". Normatec Go, Normatec Arms and Normatec Hips are all one size, so the hip attachment in this box fits without a size choice.
Hyperice's instruction: measure the length between just below your crotch and the bottom of your ankle. Stand upright, bare feet, soft tape. If your measurement lands on a boundary between two sizes, size down — Hyperice recommends the tighter fit as the more secure one.
Mechanically: the attachment surrounds the limb or the hips and pulsates between different zones while other areas hold. The RFA listing goes on to say Normatec is scientifically proven to reduce inflammation and swelling and increase circulation and is well known for its rehabilitation capacity. Those are the listing's claims. Hyperice publishes no FDA status for Normatec, so treat the outcome language as manufacturer marketing and speak to a clinician about any specific condition.
The compression, the control unit, the battery and the boots are identical. The only difference is the hip attachment. Buy this version if you want the glutes and hips in the session; buy the legs-only system if you do not. Hyperice sells hip attachments separately and describes them as being for use with any Normatec control unit, so the upgrade also exists later.
ZoneBoost provides extra time and pressure in a particular zone. That is Hyperice's complete description of it. With the hip attachment connected, the zone you boost can be a hip zone as easily as a leg one.
Hyperice recommends 20 to 60 minutes, with 20 to 30 minutes typical and 15 to 20 minutes at medium intensity given as a worthwhile short session. Up to 3 hours of battery covers several of those between charges.
No. The control unit carries up to 3 hours of battery life, charged from the 15V wall supply. Three international charging adapters are included, which matters if the system travels with you.
Hyperice lists Normatec 3 as TSA friendly, and the RFA listing says approved by TSA for carry-on. The control unit is small at 4 × 4.5 × 8.5 in, and the attachments roll flat. Confirm current battery rules with your airline.
Yes, over Bluetooth®. The app carries curated routines and further customization on top of the time, pressure and ZoneBoost controls on the unit. It also runs perfectly well without a phone.
Hyperice lists it as FSA/HSA eligible. Final eligibility is decided by your plan administrator, so confirm before submitting and keep the receipt.

Recovery boots

"I love these boots for recovery from runs. The hips are an added bonus for recovery too. I use them after my runs during the week and my legs feel more refreshed for the next run day, which makes me less likely to skip training and more likely to push myself harder. It feels like a sort of massage on the legs, so I do enjoy the compression. Productive arrived quickly so I could use it for my next race."
