Hips, IT Bands, Lower Back

Hyperice Normatec Elite Hips

Every other Normatec treats a limb. This one treats the pelvis. The Elite Hips is a single 3.4 lb wrap that buckles around the hips and works the glutes, IT bands and lower back with two zones of gapless compression — the band of the body that a boot ends just below and never reaches.

It is fully cordless. No hose, no control unit on the floor, no setup beyond fastening the buckle. Seven levels of compression cover 40–110 mmHg, ZoneBoost adds extra time and pressure, and battery runs around 4 hours from a 12V wall charger. Bluetooth connects it to the Hyperice App.

The Normatec Difference

What a two-zone hip system does

Fewer zones than a boot, because the hips are a shorter stretch of tissue. Here is what runs inside the wrap.

🧗
2 Zones of Gapless Compression
Two overlapping chambers cover the hips and glutes with no uncompressed band between them. A leg attachment needs five stages to travel from the foot to the hip crease; the pelvis is crossed in two.
2 zones
🎯
ZoneBoost™ technology
Provides extra time and pressure to a particular zone. With only two zones on this device, that choice is simply which side of the hips gets more of the session — useful when one side is doing more work than the other.

Get science-backed recovery
Science is in Normatec's DNA. The system was created by an MD, PhD and designed with input from top pro athletes and sports medicine professionals, and Hyperice calls this the first fully portable dynamic air compression device for the hips.

📱
Bluetooth® Controls
Connects over Bluetooth® to the Hyperice App. The controls are on the unit as well, so a session starts with the wrap buckled and the phone anywhere else.

A Closer Look

The wrap, and what is inside it

Normatec Elite Hips wrap, front view with buckle closure
Fit

A wrap shaped for the pelvis

The Elite Hips fastens with a front buckle and pulls to a tailored fit around the hips. Because the pump and the interface sit inside the wrap, the only thing between you and a session is the buckle. Hyperice describes it as the first fully portable dynamic air compression device made for the hips.

  • Buckle closure with an adjustable, tailored fit
  • Covers the hips, glutes, IT bands and lower back
  • 3.4 lbs complete, with nothing else to connect
  • 7 levels of compression, 40–110 mmHg

Inside

Two zones, and the pump that fills them

Inside the wrap sit two overlapping air chambers and the compressor that drives them. Normatec's patented approach pulses pressurized air through the zones in sequence, which Hyperice describes as mimicking the natural muscle pump of the body. There is no hose leaving the device and no separate box to plug it into.

  • 2 zones of gapless compression
  • Integrated pump, battery and controls
  • ZoneBoost™ technology — provides extra time and pressure
  • Charged from the included 12V wall charger; ships with a drawstring bag

The Normatec Range

The only Normatec that is hips and nothing else

Two other systems reach the hips, but both do it as part of a larger box with a control unit. This is the standalone version.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Because nothing else in the Normatec range treats them on their own. Hyperice's own answer is that the hips are your foundation and when they move well everything else follows, and they position the device for hips, glutes, IT bands and the lower back. The practical version: a Normatec boot stops at the hip crease, and this is the device that covers what sits above that line.
Hyperice's description: dynamic air compression works by pulsing pressurized air through zones, and Normatec's patented technology mimics the natural muscle pump of the body. Static compression holds one steady pressure; a dynamic system moves the pressure through the tissue in a repeating cycle. The outcome claims Hyperice attaches to that — circulation, inflammation, soreness — are theirs, and we quote them as theirs.
Yes. Normatec Elite Hips and Normatec Elite Hips Compression System name the same single-piece cordless device. There is no separate control unit and no other configuration of it.
Weight 3.4 lbs. Battery around 4 hours per charge. Compression 7 levels covering 40–110 mmHg over 2 zones of gapless coverage. ZoneBoost™ technology provides extra time and pressure. Travel: TSA friendly for carry-on. FSA/HSA: approved for use with FSA/HSA cards. Hyperice publishes no dimensions or materials for it, so we are not going to quote either.
2 zones of gapless compression. That is fewer than a Normatec leg attachment, which uses 5, and fewer than a Normatec Go calf sleeve, which uses 3. The hips cover a shorter stretch of tissue, so the pressure wave crosses them in two stages.
No. Hyperice's line for it is no cords, no setup. The pump, battery and controls are built into the wrap, the same architecture as the Normatec Elite boots. You buckle it on and start.
It ships as a single option and Hyperice publishes no size chart, hip range or waist range for it. Fit is handled by the adjustable buckle closure. Normatec's three-size Short / Standard / Tall chart applies to leg attachments only.
The Normatec Elite Hips unit, a 12V wall charger and a drawstring bag for storing and transporting it. Nothing else is needed, because there is nothing else to connect.
ZoneBoost provides extra time and pressure to a particular zone. Hyperice describes it exactly that far, so that is where we stop. On a two-zone device it means choosing which of the two gets the larger share of the session.
Hyperice gives a range of 20 to 60 minutes, with 20 to 30 minutes as the typical duration, and notes that as little as 15 to 20 minutes at medium intensity is already a worthwhile session. Around 4 hours of battery covers several of those.
Architecture. The Normatec 3 hip attachment is a fabric wrap with no pump of its own — it connects by hose to a Normatec 3 control unit, and Hyperice describes attachments as being for use with any Normatec control unit. The Elite Hips is a complete device: pump, battery and controls inside the wrap, nothing to plug it into. Both work the hips at 40–110 mmHg across 2 zones.
The Elite Hips is self-contained, so it does not share a control unit or a hose with anything. Hyperice publishes nothing about running it in parallel with another Normatec device, and we are not going to invent a compatibility claim. Physically, there is no cable to conflict with.
Yes, over Bluetooth®. Hyperice does not publish a feature list for the app on this product beyond the connection itself, so treat the on-device controls as the full picture of what you are guaranteed.
Hyperice lists it as TSA friendly for carry-on. At 3.4 lbs as a single piece with a drawstring bag and no separate console, it packs as one item. Confirm current battery rules with your airline before you fly.
Hyperice lists it as approved for use with FSA/HSA cards. Your plan administrator decides what actually qualifies, so check with them before submitting and keep the receipt.
