iRESTORE Essential | Laser Helmet

iRESTORE Essential Laser Hair Growth System

The iRESTORE Essential Laser Hair Growth System is a laser helmet carrying 120 diodes in one shell, 51 laser diodes and 69 LEDs, every one of them emitting at 655 nm. Total optical power measured across the whole shell comes to 600 mW. You wear it for 25 minutes every other day, on non-consecutive days, and the shell weighs 1.03 lb, so it sits on your head with nothing held in your hands once the timer is running.

A handheld controller with a timer display runs the session and connects to the helmet on a cable. The helmet takes a universal power adapter rated for AC 100-240V in and DC 5V out at 50/60Hz, so it works on the socket you already have. Nothing in the box runs without a cable, and the rechargeable battery pack that lets you move around during a session is bought on its own.

The emitters face the top of the scalp and the crown, and that is the area this shell is built around; the two larger helmets in the range stretch the same shape further forward and further down the sides. The box holds the device, the universal power adapter, the controller with its timer display, a user manual and a quick start guide.

The device carries a 2 year warranty from iRESTORE. Returns on the hair devices close 12 months from the date of purchase, the return authorization is requested between 365 and 400 days from purchase, and a 25 percent service fee applies to the refund. The iRESTORE Essential holds FDA 510(k) clearance K213094. It is a Class II device, product code OAP, under 21 CFR 890.5500. The helmet is a Class 3R laser product with each laser diode running at under 5 mW, and the cautions that come with it are worth reading before the first session.

The hardware

Six Hundred Milliwatts Across One Hundred and Twenty Diodes

Two kinds of emitter share one shell and one wavelength here, and the count, the split and the output figure are the three numbers that separate this helmet from the two above it.

01

Fifty-One Lasers Beside Sixty-Nine LEDs

The shell holds 120 emitters in total: 51 laser diodes and 69 LEDs, mounted on the inner face so they point in at the head while the helmet is worn. Both kinds run at the same wavelength, so the two differ by the type of emitter and not by the colour of the light. The laser diodes are the edge-emitting type and the LEDs are super-luminescent diodes. Added together they make up the 600 mW of total optical power for the whole helmet.

120 diodes

02

Every Diode Sits at 655 nm

One wavelength runs through the whole shell from one end to the other. Lasers and LEDs alike emit at 655 nm, in the red part of the visible range, with no second wavelength to select and no mode button to press. Three wavelengths at once is what marks out the iRESTORE Elite, which carries 625, 655 and 680 nm in one helmet. On this one the only thing you set is the timer, and the controller does that for you.

655 nm

03

Twenty-Five Minutes Every Other Day

A session runs 25 minutes and the helmet goes on every other day, on non-consecutive days. The controller counts the time down on its display and closes the session at the end of it, so nothing has to be timed by hand or watched. A day off between sessions is part of how the device is meant to be worn. The iRESTORE Elite works to a different pattern, 12 minutes on a daily cycle.

04

Do Not Look Into the Laser Light

This helmet is a Class 3R laser product and each laser diode runs at under 5 mW. Class 3R is a laser-product classification, and what it means for you is the eye instruction that comes with the device: do not look directly at the laser light, and do not use magnifiers, microscopes or any other optical instrument to look at it. The emitters face inward at the head once the shell is on, and the cautions section further on carries the rest of the wording that ships with the helmet.

Eight Figures Behind the iRESTORE Essential

Eight figures and facts do most of the work when somebody is choosing a laser helmet: the emitter count, the wavelength, the total output, the weight, the controller, the power adapter, the battery option and the warranty term.

01

One Hundred and Twenty Diodes in the Shell

120 emitters sit inside the helmet, 51 of them laser diodes and 69 of them LEDs.

02

Six Hundred Milliwatts in Total

Total optical power for the whole shell is 600 mW.

03

One Wavelength and Nothing to Select

Both emitter types run at 655 nm, so no wavelength or mode has to be chosen.

04

The Helmet Weighs 1.03 lb

At 1.03 lb the shell is carried on the head alone, with no stand and nothing to hold.

05

A Controller That Counts the Time Down

The handheld controller carries a timer display and connects to the helmet on a cable.

06

The Adapter Takes 100 to 240 Volts

The universal power adapter accepts AC 100-240V and puts out DC 5V at 50/60Hz.

07

The Battery Pack Is Bought Separately

The rechargeable pack fits an iRESTORE Essential purchased after April 2022 and is ordered on its own.

08

Two Years of Warranty From iRESTORE

Cover on the helmet runs 2 years, and returns on the hair devices close at 12 months with a 25 percent service fee.

In detail

Where It Sits and What Powers It

Coverage

The Shell Covers the Top and the Crown

The shell is shaped to sit over the top of the head, and the emitters inside it face the top of the scalp and the crown. The iRESTORE Professional and the iRESTORE Elite both carry a longer shell that reaches forward to the hairline, out to the temples and down the sides, and they carry more emitters to fill it. You put this one on, start the timer and leave it alone for the 25 minutes, so nothing is repositioned partway through a session.

  • Emitters face the top of the scalp and the crown
  • Worn on the head at 1.03 lb
  • Nothing to hold once the timer starts
  • 25 minutes per session, every other day

Inside

Two Emitter Types on One Inner Face

The inner face carries both emitter types together, 51 laser diodes and 69 LEDs, laid out across the area the shell covers. Every one of the 120 sits at 655 nm. The figure worth putting beside that count is the output: 600 mW here, against 1,410 mW on the iRESTORE Professional and 2,500 mW on the iRESTORE Elite. Counting emitters on its own misses that gap, so read the two numbers together when you compare the three helmets.

  • 51 laser diodes of the edge-emitting type
  • 69 super-luminescent LEDs
  • 120 emitters, all of them at 655 nm
  • 600 mW of total optical power
120 diodes 655 nm 600 mW

Power

The Battery Pack Clips to Your Belt

Out of the carton the helmet runs on a cable, with the universal power adapter taking AC 100-240V and feeding the controller DC 5V at 50/60Hz. The rechargeable pack is a separate product that clips to a belt and joins the digital remote magnetically, with no cable running between the two. The iRESTORE Rechargeable Battery Pack - Professional and Essential fits an iRESTORE Essential purchased after April 2022, so check the purchase date of your own helmet and compare the photographs against it before ordering.

  • Universal power adapter at AC 100-240V in

Questions

What Buyers Ask About the iRESTORE Essential

120 in total: 51 laser diodes and 69 LEDs. Both types are mounted on the inner face of the shell and both emit at 655 nm. Total optical power for the helmet is 600 mW. The iRESTORE Professional carries 282 emitters at 1,410 mW and the iRESTORE Elite carries 500 at 2,500 mW.

655 nm, one wavelength, on every emitter in the shell. The laser diodes and the LEDs are the same red as each other, so there is nothing to switch between. A three wavelength set of 625, 655 and 680 nm belongs to the iRESTORE Elite alone.

25 minutes, every other day, on non-consecutive days. The timer on the controller runs the clock and ends the session. The iRESTORE Elite works to a 12 minute daily pattern, and the iRESTORE Professional keeps the same 25 minutes on the same alternating days as this one.

1.03 lb. The whole weight goes on the head, since the controller is held in the hand or set down and the power adapter stays at the socket. The iRESTORE Professional comes in at 1.25 lb and the iRESTORE Elite at 1.20 lb.

The device, a universal power adapter, the controller with its timer display, a user manual and a quick start guide. The rechargeable battery pack is a separate order. No case is packed with this helmet, and the one case iRESTORE sells on its own is the iRESTORE Professional Carrying Case, which is shaped to the iRESTORE Professional.

Yes, once you add the iRESTORE Rechargeable Battery Pack - Professional and Essential. It clips to a belt and joins the digital remote magnetically. The fitment rule to check is the purchase date, since the pack fits an iRESTORE Essential purchased after April 2022. The pack carries a 30 day return window and cannot be shipped internationally.

Anyone under the age of 18, and anyone the cautions that ship with the device apply to. Do not use it if you have a medical condition that makes your skin sensitive to sun or light, if you have cancer on your scalp, or if you have sensitive skin or are allergic to light at 640 to 665 nm. Discontinue use and consult a doctor if scalp itching persists for more than an hour after a session.

The helmet is a Class 3R laser product with each laser diode running at under 5 mW, and the instruction that comes with it is plain: do not look directly at the laser light, and do not use magnifiers, microscopes or other optical instruments to look at it. The emitters face in at the head while the shell is worn.

A 2 year warranty from iRESTORE. Returns on the hair devices close 12 months from the date of purchase, the return authorization is requested between 365 and 400 days from purchase, and a 25 percent service fee applies to the refund.

By count, by output and by how often it goes on. This one runs 120 emitters at 600 mW, the iRESTORE Professional runs 282 at 1,410 mW, and the iRESTORE Elite runs 500 at 2,500 mW. The first two share 655 nm and a 25 minute session every other day; the Elite adds 625 and 680 nm and runs 12 minutes daily.
