Everything the Studio Plus charges over an M3i is in the screen. Below it the two machines are the same object: 49 in., 92 lb, four-way Studio Curve bar, four-way seat, self-tensioning Poly-V belt, 4 ft 10 in. to 7 ft. What the Studio Display adds is 72 gears in place of 24, a colour Ride by Color readout with 86 percent more screen area, a rider profile the display keeps, four training modes, ANT+ alongside Bluetooth, and a generator in the flywheel hub that means no AA cells ever go into the bike.

One piece of hardware: the fore and aft travel in the handlebar. The Studio Plus carries the four-way Studio Curve bar, so the grips move toward or away from the saddle and a rider sets reach as well as bar height. That travel is what opens the fit to 4 ft 10 in. to 7 ft. The M3i Studio runs the two-way Studio Align bar, which moves up and down and leaves reach to the frame, and its fit band is 5 ft to 6 ft 2 in. as a result. The frame follows the bar: 49 in. and 92 lb here, 44 in. and 87 lb there, so the reach a Studio Plus adds is bought with 5 in. of height and 5 lb of weight. Display, gear count, generator, belt and brake are identical on both.

Yes. The bottom of the range is 4 ft 10 in., two inches below 5 ft, and the fore and aft travel on the Studio Curve handlebar brings the grips back far enough to reach it. The top of the same range is 7 ft, so one Studio Plus covers both ends of a household: a 5 ft rider and a 6 ft 4 in. rider set their own saddle and bar positions on the same machine. The two-way M3i Studio covers 5 ft to 6 ft 2 in., so the Studio Plus is the bike that gives both riders room inside its band.

The emergency brake. Working gears on a Studio Plus run 1 to 72, and Gear 88 sits above all of them as the setting a rider reaches for when the bike has to stop faster than the legs can stop it. The resistance underneath is continuous, so the gear number is a scale the Studio Display lays over it, and at 72 divisions one click moves the load a third as far as a click on the M Connect Display's 24. That matters when a target wattage falls between two settings and there is still twenty minutes of the effort to go.

None, ever. The Studio Display is fed by a generator built into the flywheel hub, storing what it makes in a super capacitor, so the bike is its own power supply for as long as somebody is pedalling it. There is no battery compartment to open, no cell to keep spares of and no cord, which is why a Studio Plus can be positioned by sight lines and floor plan alone.

The CPS and CSCS profiles exist for exactly that. The Studio Display broadcasts on CPS for power, CSCS for speed and cadence, FTMS for machine control and a Keiser Proprietary profile alongside them, over Bluetooth 4.0 and ANT+ at the same time. A third-party fitness or cycling app that reads any of those standards will pick up the bike directly, and a group cycling projection system reads the same broadcast to put a rider on the wall. The Keiser M Series App and the M Series Group App sit on the same radios.

Four: % of FTP, % of HRmax, METs and Speed. Speed can be shown in MPH or KM/H and FTP can be shown as five, six or seven zone bands. Underneath the mode the display still reads speed, cadence, watts, heart rate, kilocalories, distance, time and gear, with the Ride by Color colour, progress bar and zone number over the top.

Yes, and it is 350 lb for the rider, unchanged across every position on the bike. Read it alongside the fit range, because the two together describe who the machine is built for: 4 ft 10 in. to 7 ft tall and up to 350 lb. The 92 lb the Studio Plus weighs itself belongs to delivery day and has no bearing on the rider rating.

49 in. / 1245 mm tall, 26 in. / 661 mm wide and 51 in. / 1296 mm deep, at 92 lb. Height is the figure that separates this bike from the 44 in. frames, so check the ceiling first in a basement or under a sloping roof, and add the head height of a rider standing out of the saddle on top of the 49 in. Floor space wants the 51 in. length plus room behind the saddle to mount, and the 26 in. across the bar is what has to travel the route in.

Yes. It stores weight, FTP and HRmax, so the colour zones on the screen carry the same meaning from one session to the next for the rider it was set up for. It also has a metric reset, which starts a fresh count part-way through a ride and leaves the stored profile alone.

The Keiser M Series pedal, which takes an SPD cleat or an ordinary training shoe under the pedal cage strap. Both sides being usable is what lets a class ride together without agreeing on footwear, and it lets a rider who has never clipped in take a full session in the shoes they walked in wearing. The pedal itself has been run through more than 30 million cycles at 290 lb and 120 RPM, which is the working life a studio pedal is asked for when twenty riders a day stand on it. Give the cage strap tension a look whenever you check the seat and handlebar knobs, because a foot moving in the cage is a foot that is not driving the pedal.

M Series Cardio equipment carries three years all inclusive, with labor outside that cover. Sitting outside it as well are the wearable parts, and on this bike those are the handles, the pedal cage, the straps and the saddle, all four carrying ninety days of their own. One cardio warranty applies the same terms to a studio floor and a spare bedroom. A machine taken out of the United States falls outside the cover unless it was bought through a Keiser distributor or dealer in the country it ends up in.
