Osaki | Model Ziva 2D
The Osaki Ziva 2D is a 2D massage chair, so its rollers run up and down the track and side to side across it at a fixed depth. For a first chair it brings hardware that a buzzing recliner does not have. A laser-crafted steel SL-Track runs from your head to your glutes, and an automatic body scan reads where your shoulders sit before the rollers move. A Zero Gravity recline leaves your knees higher than your heart. Around the track sit 24 air cells at your shoulders, arms, hips, calves and feet, with foot rollers under the seat as well.
Twelve auto modes and five manual modes come off a touch tablet controller, with lumbar heating available through any of them. Press forward with your legs and the spring-loaded footrest gives up to 7 in. more length. The headrest pillow lifts off when you want the rollers closer at the neck. Space saving technology means the frame slides forward as the backrest goes down, so the Ziva 2D reclines all the way with 4 in. between it and the wall. Put it against a finished wall in a living room and it still gets there. Upright it measures 30 by 57.0 by 44.5 in. and it needs a 32 in. doorway. Those are the two figures worth checking before the delivery is booked.
Inside the chair
The Ziva 2D pairs a laser-crafted steel track with a 2D mechanism, a scan that aims the rollers and a recline that changes where your own weight sits.
The numbers
The Ziva 2D gives a first massage chair 24 air cells, 12 auto massage modes, an automatic body scan and lumbar heating.
Closer look
Air compression around your feet is common at this price. Rollers under your soles are not, and they feel like a different machine: something solid turning under the arch and the ball of your foot, reaching the acupressure points airbags alone never touch. They run quietly. The footrest they sit in is spring-loaded and slides out up to 7 in. when you press forward with your legs. A taller user gets the calves supported, and a shorter user is not left reaching for the end of it.
The main controller is a touch tablet, and that is where the twelve auto modes and five manual modes live, along with chair position and lumbar heating. For the changes you make mid-session without opening your eyes, a quick side panel sits on the armrest. The headrest pillow detaches, and it is the one padding change on this chair. With the pillow in, the rollers reach your neck and shoulders through an extra layer. With it out they reach them direct. Bluetooth speakers are built into the chair, so audio pairs from a phone without a separate speaker in the room. Between the tablet, the side panel and the pillow, everything you change on this chair is inside arm's reach of the seat.
The Ziva 2D occupies two footprints, one upright and one reclined, and the floor has to hold the reclined one. Upright, the chair is 30 in. wide, 57.0 in. deep and 44.5 in. tall. Reclined, it stretches to 67.5 in. deep and drops to 34.3 in. tall. The 10.5 in. of extra depth goes out in front of the chair, because space saving technology walks the base forward as the backrest goes down, leaving only 4 in. behind it. You need a 32 in. doorway to get the Ziva 2D into the room, so measure the smallest inner width of your frame with the door open as far as it will go.
Compare
The Ziva 2D puts a full SL-Track, a body scan, Zero Gravity and foot rollers behind the simplest roller mechanism in the group, and the chairs beside it trade that simplicity for deeper 3D rollers.
