Compression With A Screen

Therabody Jetboots PRO Plus Recovery Boots

The Therabody JetBoots PRO Plus are FDA Cleared wireless compression boots with a control screen on the boot, for settings in fine steps. Air chambers fill in sequence from the feet toward the hips. Pressure runs from 20 to 100 mmHg, the unit a blood pressure cuff uses, in 5 mmHg increments. A session runs from 10 to 60 minutes in five-minute steps. Eight preset routines are loaded on the screen, and vibration and infrared light share the boots. The boots come in three sizes: Short, Regular and Long. The pair is TSA Approved and HSA/FSA Accepted, with a 1-year limited warranty.

The eight routines are the part you buy this pair for. Each one arrives with its length, its pressure and its cycle type already set, so choosing a session is one decision and not three. Recovery runs 45 minutes at 60 mmHg and is the long one. Warm-up runs 10 minutes at 80 mmHg and is the firmest. Lower Leg, Upper Leg and Knee each run 20 minutes at 50 mmHg on one section of the leg at a time. Two more presets sit at 20 mmHg for 15 and 10 minutes, and Sleep Prep runs 10 minutes at 40 mmHg. A Quick Start entry runs 30 minutes at 50 mmHg when you want to skip the menu. The set is designed by leading sports scientists.

Weight is the trade for all of that: 11.3 lb for Short, 12.4 lb for Regular and 12.8 lb for Long. Battery life is 150 to 240 minutes and the boots keep running with the power adapter connected. The PRO Plus is FDA Cleared, a 510(k) review with the agency, and it is TSA Approved and HSA/FSA Accepted, with your plan administrator deciding an individual claim. A 1-year limited warranty covers the pair from the date of purchase.

Key Features

Key features

Compression comes with vibration and light alongside it, and all three are chosen on the screen on the boot, in steps small enough to matter.

Pressure in 5 mmHg steps
The range is 20 to 100 mmHg and it moves five at a time, which gives 17 settings between the softest and the firmest. Millimetres of mercury is the unit used on a blood pressure cuff. Session length moves in five-minute steps between 10 and 60 minutes, so a 35-minute treatment at 65 mmHg is a setting you can actually dial in.
20 to 100 mmHg
Eight routines on the screen
Recovery, Warm-up, Lower Leg, Upper Leg, Knee, Joint Therapy, Pain Relief and Sleep Prep. Each holds its own length and pressure, and each runs one of three cycle types: Sequential works chamber by chamber up the leg, Static holds a steady squeeze, and Flow moves more gently. Three of the eight isolate one section of the leg on their own.
8 routines, 3 cycle types
Vibration at three intensities
Low, medium and high are the three vibration settings, and they run underneath the compression cycle or on their own. Vibration is one of the therapies the PRO Plus adds over the Prime, and it is the reason the control screen carries a second row of options beside the pressure and the timer.
Low - medium - high
Infrared light on a 45-minute limit
An LED strip inside each boot gives off infrared light, which sits just past the red end of what the eye can see. It has one control, on or off, and it shuts down automatically after 45 minutes once the dose is complete. That limit is independent of the compression session, which can be shorter or longer than the light.
Auto off at 45 minutes

The Routines

Eight presets and what each one sets

A preset is a length, a pressure and a cycle type bundled together. Recovery is the long one at 45 minutes and 60 mmHg. Warm-up is the short firm one at 10 minutes and 80 mmHg. Lower Leg, Upper Leg and Knee hold the same 20 minutes at 50 mmHg but isolate one part of the leg. The two presets at the bottom of the pressure range both sit at 20 mmHg, for 15 and 10 minutes. Sleep Prep runs 10 minutes at 40 mmHg on the Flow cycle. Quick Start is the manual entry at 30 minutes and 50 mmHg.

  • Recovery: 45 minutes, 60 mmHg, Sequential

Inside The Boot

Four chambers and the order they fire in

Each boot carries four overlapping air chambers, and they inflate in sequence from the feet and move up toward the hips. The overlap is what stops a band of leg being missed between one chamber and the next. Both pumps are integrated, so there is no box on the floor and no hose to trip over, and the two boots talk to each other over a short-range wireless link so one leads and the other follows. The batteries are sealed in and not replaceable, which is why a full charge every six months matters even in the off season.

  • 4 overlapping air chambers in each boot
  • Sequential inflation from the feet toward the hips
  • Integrated pumps in both boots, no separate pump box
  • The two boots pair with each other, one leading
  • Sealed batteries that are not replaceable
  • Charge fully at least once every six months
  • Weights: 11.3 lb Short, 12.4 lb Regular, 12.8 lb Long

Sizing And The Kit

The size chart in full

Size comes off your outseam, measured from just below the top of your hip bone to the floor with no shoes on. The chart carries every row in centimetres and inches, including the thigh column and the inseam, measured from the bottom of your groin to your ankle bone. Short and Regular overlap between 34 and 36.5 inches on purpose, and the thigh measurement settles which one fits there. The kit is four items: the two boots, the power adapter that runs them, the splitter cable that feeds both, and a travel bag.

  • Short: outseam 68.5-92.5 cm (27-36.5 in), thigh 66 cm and over (26 in and over), inseam 63.5-73.5 cm (25-29 in), height 152-173 cm (5 ft 0 in to 5 ft 8 in)
  • Regular: outseam 86-104 cm (34-41 in), thigh under 66 cm (under 26 in), inseam 73.5-84 cm (29-33 in), height 170-185 cm (5 ft 7 in to 6 ft 1 in)
  • Long: outseam 104 cm and over (41 in and over), thigh up to 81.5 cm (up to 32 in), inseam 76 cm and over (30 in and over), height 185 cm and over (6 ft 1 in and over)
  • Outseam, the measurement the size is based on: stand tall with no shoes and measure from an inch or two below the top of your hip bone to the floor
  • Inseam: measure from the bottom of your groin to your ankle bone, and use the inseam only to confirm the size the outseam gave you
  • Thigh: "Measure the widest part of your thigh, standing."
  • Between two sizes: the guidance is to size down
  • If your outseam falls between 34 and 36.5 inches, measure your thigh circumference as well: over 26 inches, size down to Short.
  • In the box: JetBoots PRO Plus, two boots with integrated pumps
  • In the box: power adapter
  • In the box: splitter cable
  • In the box: travel bag

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Size on your outseam. The instruction is exact: "Stand tall with no shoes. Measure from an inch or two below the top of your hip bone to the floor." That is the top of the hip bone, not the groin, and the difference between those two landmarks is several inches. An outseam of 27 to 36.5 in (68.5 to 92.5 cm) is Short, 34 to 41 in (86 to 104 cm) is Regular, and 41 in (104 cm) or more is Long. Inseam confirms it: 25 to 29 in Short, 29 to 33 in Regular, 30 in and over Long. Height is indicative only: 5 ft 0 in to 5 ft 8 in Short, 5 ft 7 in to 6 ft 1 in Regular, 6 ft 1 in and over Long.
Short and Regular both cover 34 to 36.5 inches, and that overlap is deliberate. Measure your thigh circumference at its widest point, standing: over 26 inches, size down to Short. The thigh column runs the other way from the outseam, so Short takes thighs of 26 in (66 cm) and over, Regular takes under 26 in, and Long goes up to 32 in (81.5 cm). Anywhere else on the chart the rule is plain: "If you're between two sizes, we recommend sizing down."
Four items. The JetBoots PRO Plus themselves, which are two boots with the pumps already inside them, a power adapter, a splitter cable that feeds both boots from that one adapter, and a travel bag. No hoses and no pump box, because the pumps are in the boots.
Sealed rechargeable batteries in each boot, filled through the power adapter and the splitter cable. Runtime is 150 to 240 minutes, and where a session lands in that range depends on the pressure, the vibration and the light you ask for. The boots keep working with the adapter connected. The batteries are not replaceable, so give them a full charge at least every six months even if the boots are not in use.
Use a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol solution on a cloth for the inside of the boots, gently, keeping away from oil-based products and pressure on the internal surfaces. Let them dry completely before the next session. Hang them until they are completely dry before the next session. Each boot carries its own battery and its own pump, so a fault in one does not stop the other.
The PRO Plus weighs 11.3 to 12.8 lb depending on size, and the JetBoots Prime weighs 5.5 to 6.3 lb, which is the pair Therabody sells as the portable one. The Prime offers four pressure steps and three session lengths at a lower price. The boots are cut for legs, and the RecoveryPulse Arm is the one made for a bicep.
They are FDA Cleared, which is a 510(k) review with the agency and a stronger statement than the FDA Registered listing carried by most Therabody wearables. They are also TSA Approved for carriage and HSA/FSA Accepted, though your plan administrator decides any individual claim. The pair carries a 1-year limited warranty.

Stocked my size short

"This was a big decision due to cost. I was in an accident and regaining strength has meant stiffness and soreness. So far, the Jetboots seem to help. Recovery for Athletes answered some of my questions. They also had my size (short). Most sellers have standard size only. I recommend product and this company."
