Theragun Wave Duo Vibrating Roller

The Theragun Wave Duo is Therabody's contoured vibrating roller, a small twin-lobed block you lean back against on the floor or a wall. Two raised halves land on the muscle on each side of your spine while the channel between them clears the bone. More than three vibration intensity settings run through both halves. It measures 7.0 in x 3.9 in x 2.6 in, or 17.9 cm by 10 cm by 6.6 cm, and weighs 2.0 lbs. A USB-A to USB-C charging cable comes with it. The Wave Duo is FDA Registered and HSA/FSA Accepted, with a 1-year limited warranty.

The shape is the entire reason this one exists. A cylinder can only ever give you a straight line of contact, and a straight line laid across your back bridges the spine and presses on it. Two separate lobes give you two contact points with a gap in the middle, which is the geometry you want for the long muscles running up either side of the back and into the neck. You get more control over pressure as well: leaning against a wall lets you dial your body weight up or down by moving your feet, and dropping to the floor gives you all of it at once. The Shape

How it works

The split body sets the Wave Duo apart, with vibration through both halves, a texture that keeps it in place and phone control for a device you cannot see while you use it.

Two lobes sit either side of a channel, so the pressure lands as two points with a gap between them. A cylinder can only ever lay one straight line across you, and this does not. Why two lobes and not one tube

Lie a cylinder across your upper back and it touches the highest points on you, which includes the line of the spine. The Wave Duo splits that contact in two. Each lobe takes one side and the channel between them passes over the middle, so your weight goes into muscle on both sides at once. It is a small block doing a specific job, and the job is the part of the body a long roller handles worst.

Standing up or lying down changes everything

Pinned between your back and a wall, you set the pressure by how far your feet are from the skirting board: step out and it bites, step in and it eases. No. The two lobes are moulded into the body and nothing comes off. It is a single sealed unit with the motor and battery inside, and the only accessory in its life is the charging cable.
