Contoured Vibrating Roller

Theragun Wave Duo Vibrating Roller

Contoured to the back, spine, and neck. The Wave Duo is a two-lobe roller with a concave channel down the middle: the two high points land on the muscle either side of the spine while the valley clears the bones between them. That shape is the whole product. It is 7 inches long, 3.9 inches wide and 2.6 inches tall, and it weighs 2.0 lbs.

The outer is textured silicone with the Wave pattern moulded across it, which gives the lobes grip against skin, a shirt, or a wall. Vibration runs through both heads and pairs to the Therabody app over Bluetooth. Battery life is 200 minutes, and the whole unit fits in a laptop bag.

How it works

Wave Roller Features

Four design decisions, starting with the one that gives the Wave Duo its silhouette.

🦴
Scientifically-calibrated shape
Therabody attributes the size and shape to founder Dr. Jason Wersland. Two high points sit either side of the spine and neck; the concave centre between them keeps pressure off the spine itself. That geometry is what lets you lean into a wall and work the muscle either side of the midline.

Customized vibration settings
The live RFA product copy lists 5 customizable vibration frequencies, adjustable to your comfort level. Therabody's own comparison chart is vaguer, giving only "more than 3 vibration intensity settings", so we quote the live listing and flag the difference.

🌊
Innovative Wave Texture
Muscle work is about applying varied angles of pressure. The wave grooves moulded into the silicone add a second dimension of pressure across each lobe and hold traction when the roller is pinned between your back and a wall.

Smart connectivity
A smart device with Bluetooth connectivity. Pair it to the Therabody app to adjust vibration intensity from your phone and to open the guided Wave Series recovery routines.

A closer look

Three details worth seeing up close

Surface

Textured silicone, wave grooves

The outer is textured silicone, which matters for two reasons: silicone grips when the roller is trapped between your back and a hard surface, and it damps the motor noise so the vibration stays quiet at close range. Foam does neither as well at this size. The wave pattern runs across both lobes so the contact point keeps changing as you shift your weight along it.

Power

200 minutes, then a USB-C top-up

Battery life is 200 minutes of run time. At a realistic ten minutes a session that is a long stretch between charges, which is the point of a device you keep at a desk or in a bag. Charging is over USB-C from the supplied cable. Therabody does not publish a charge time for the Wave Duo, so we do not quote one.

App

Bluetooth control and the Wave Series routines

The Wave Duo is a smart device with Bluetooth connectivity. Pairing it to the Therabody app moves the intensity control to your phone, which is useful when the roller is behind your back and out of reach. The app also carries the Wave Series guided rolling routines, so you can follow a set sequence when you would rather not plan one.

  • Adjust vibration intensity from the app
  • Guided Wave Series recovery routines
  • Controls also work on the device itself

Three formats of the same wave surface

All three share the wave texture and Bluetooth app control. The difference is the shape of the contact area.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The live RFA product copy states 5 customizable vibration frequencies. Therabody's own product comparison chart is less specific and says only "More than 3 vibration intensity settings". We publish the live listing's figure and tell you where it came from. Neither source gives a vibration frequency in Hz, so we do not quote one.
Two raised lobes with a concave centre. The lobes sit on the muscle either side of the spine and neck while the channel between them clears the spine. Therabody credits the shape to founder Dr. Jason Wersland.
7.0 in x 3.9 in x 2.6 in (17.9 cm x 10 cm x 6.6 cm), weighing 2.0 lbs (0.9 kg). Small enough for a backpack or a desk drawer.
200 minutes of run time. Therabody does not publish a charge time for this model, so we will not estimate one.
The Wave Duo, a protective carrying pouch, and a charging accessory. Our sources differ on the last item: therabody.com lists a USB-A to USB-C cable while the live RFA listing says power adapter. The product photography shows a USB-C cable. We list both descriptions and leave the choice of wording to Therabody.
A textured silicone outer with the wave pattern moulded into it. The live copy describes it as noise dampening silicone.
Yes, and the silicone texture is what makes that work. The high-traction wave grooves hold position when the roller is pinned between your back and a wall, which is the usual way to reach the neck and upper back on your own.
Yes. It is a smart device with Bluetooth connectivity. The app adjusts intensity and holds the Wave Series guided routines.
No. The vibration settings are controlled on the device. The app adds phone control and the guided routines on top.
Pick by area. The Wave Roller is 12 inches of foam cylinder for hamstrings, quads and broad back passes. The Wave Duo is 7 inches of contoured silicone for the neck, upper back and the muscle either side of the spine.
That is the use case Therabody writes it for. The two lobes are sized to sit either side of the neck, and the concave centre keeps pressure off the cervical spine. We stop short of promising a result. The shape is the verifiable part.
No. The Wave Duo is vibration only. Nothing on the therabody.com page lists a heat feature or a temperature setting.
Therabody labels the Wave Duo HSA/FSA Accepted. Your plan administrator has the final say on any individual claim.
Therabody lists it as FDA Registered, which is a different designation from FDA Cleared. We quote the wording exactly as published.
