NOHrD | Sling
The NOHRD Sling is a suspension trainer built around two solid wood gymnastic rings hanging from a single wooden housing 22 cm across. The rings are 24 cm in diameter and take a hand or a foot equally well, so rowing, pressing and suspended leg work all run on the same setup. Rope length adjusts anywhere from 20 cm to 270 cm through a quick-adjust system inside the wooden housing, so there are no buckles or webbing ladders to work through between exercises. The whole thing weighs 5 kg and is rated for a user up to 150 kg (331 lb).
The Sling hangs from a single overhead point. Carabiners are included, and the Sling is mounted to a ceiling fixing or fastened securely to an overhead tree branch, a climbing frame or a goalpost, which is how a 5 kg trainer ends up being used in a garden as readily as in a room. Whatever it goes on has to take a person's full weight in motion, so the anchor point deserves the same attention the rest of the installation gets.
Nothing is assembled and nothing is adjusted at setup: the Sling arrives in one package, ready to hang. It comes in the six NOHrD finishes that run across the rest of the range, so a Sling can be matched to a wall bar or a cable machine already in the room.
The adjustment
Rope length is the only setting a suspension trainer has, and it gets changed several times in a session. On the Sling that adjustment lives inside a 22 cm wooden housing and covers everything from 20 cm to 270 cm.
01
The quick-adjust system sits in the solid wood housing at the top, 22 cm across, and it is what sets the rope length for both rings. Most suspension trainers use buckles, cam locks or a webbing ladder, all of which are fiddly with cold hands and slow between exercises. Here the length changes in one movement and holds where you leave it, which matters when a circuit moves from a low row to a high press every ninety seconds. Nothing is threaded, unclipped or re-fed through a loop to make the change.

02
Rope length runs from 20 cm at the shortest to 270 cm at the longest, which is a span of two and a half metres on one trainer. The short end is for pressing and dip-style work with the rings held high; the long end drops the rings almost to the floor for supine rows and suspended leg work. That range is also what lets one Sling work under a low ceiling indoors and from a tree branch outside. Set it once for an exercise and it stays there under load.

The handles are gymnastic rings in solid wood, 24 cm in diameter, and they work as foot holders as readily as handholds. Wood grips well under a sweating hand and does not get cold or slick the way a moulded plastic handle can. A 24 cm ring is large enough to take a whole foot for suspended work, which is the movement most nylon-handled trainers make awkward. All the natural materials on the Sling are chosen for that grip.

The Sling weighs 5 kg in total and carries a user rating of 150 kg (331 lb). Those two numbers together are the reason it travels: it goes in a bag, hangs from whatever is overhead at the other end, and still takes a full-sized adult through a session. Carabiners are included for the mounting, so nothing else needs buying to put it up. The anchor it hangs from is the part that has to be sound, because everything the rating describes passes through it.

Ownership
Five kilograms in one package, no assembly, and a decision about where it hangs. The Sling is rated to a 150 kg user, hangs indoors or outdoors from the carabiners it ships with, and comes in the same six wood finishes the rest of the NOHrD range is cut in.
01
331 lb through the rings, the ropes and the housing, which is the rated limit on the trainer.
02
Light enough to pack for a trip and hang at the other end from whatever is overhead.
03
The clips for mounting and dismounting come with it, so nothing else is needed to put it up.
04
One package, ready to hang. There is nothing to build, thread or tension before first use.
05
Ceiling-mounted indoors, or fastened securely to an overhead tree, climbing frame or goalpost.
06
Six finishes, landing on the wooden housing and the pair of 24 cm rings.
07
24 cm wooden rings, wide enough for a whole foot in suspended work.
08
NOHrD covers the Sling for one year from shipment, going to two years on components and wood if you register inside that year.
In detail
Mounting
The Sling hangs from a single point, with carabiners included for clipping it up and taking it down. Indoors that point is a ceiling fixing; outdoors it can be an overhead tree branch, a climbing frame or a goalpost, fastened securely. The rating on the trainer is 150 kg, and all of it arrives at that one anchor along with whatever force a moving body adds to it, so the fixing is the part of the installation to get a second opinion on. There is no door-frame option on this trainer, which is worth knowing if that is how you planned to use it.
In use
Suspension training means your own body weight is the load and the angle you stand at is the setting, so the two things that matter in the hardware are how fast the length changes and how the handles feel. The Sling answers the first with a quick-adjust housing that moves the rope anywhere between 20 cm and 270 cm in one movement. It answers the second with 24 cm solid wood rings that take a hand or a whole foot, so suspended leg work does not turn into a wrestle with a nylon loop. A circuit that runs rows, presses, splits and suspended leg work only needs the rope set differently between them.
The wood
Every NOHrD product runs the same six-finish ladder, and on the Sling it lands on two components: the solid wood housing that carries the quick-adjust system and the pair of 24 cm rings. The rope, the webbing and the carabiners are the same parts whichever finish you order, so the wood here is the surface your hands meet and the part of the trainer a room sees. Shadow is the black-stained entry finish and Walnut sits at the top of the ladder, with four more between them. Because the rings and the housing are the only wood on the trainer, the finish reads as an accent in a room, and it is easy to match to a piece already there.
The range
The Sling is the one standalone NOHrD piece that works above you rather than under you or in your hand. At 5 kg it is the third lightest of the six, a group that runs from a 300 g leather hand ball to a 40 kg folding frame and needs no wall fixing anywhere in it.

Questions
From a single overhead point: ceiling-mounted indoors, or fastened securely to an overhead tree, a climbing frame or a goalpost outdoors. Carabiners are included for clipping it on and taking it down. Whatever it hangs from carries the full 150 kg rating plus the movement of the person using it, so have the fixing checked by whoever installs it.
Anywhere from 20 cm to 270 cm, set through the quick-adjust system in the wooden housing. The short end holds the rings high for pressing work and the long end drops them near the floor for rows and suspended leg work, so a single trainer covers a low-ceilinged room and a tall garden anchor.
Through the quick-adjust system housed in the 22 cm solid wood casing at the top. It is a one-movement change with no buckles to release and no webbing to re-thread. A circuit keeps moving when the rope length changes between exercises.
150 kg, which is 331 lb. It applies to the rings, the ropes and the housing together. The trainer's own weight is 5 kg, and the anchor point it hangs from has to carry the whole rated load in motion.
24 cm in diameter, in solid wood. They are gymnastic rings, so they work as handles or as foot holders depending on the exercise, and 24 cm is wide enough to take a whole foot for suspended work.
No door-frame anchor comes with the Sling and none is offered for it. The mounting options are a ceiling fixing, an overhead tree, a climbing frame or a goalpost. If a door frame is the only anchor available to you, a different trainer is the better buy.
One year from the date of first shipment, extended to two years on components and two years on wooden components by registering the product within the first year of purchase. Spare parts carry ninety days, and the cover reads the same for private and commercial use.
No. It arrives in one package, ready to hang, with the carabiners included. The only job on the day is the anchor point.
Cheapest first, they run Shadow, Oak, Vintage, Club, Cherry, Walnut. The wood lands on the housing and the rings only, while the rope, the webbing and the carabiners are the same parts in every finish. Oak is real oak, with the aged character finish of Vintage a rung above it. Because so little of the trainer is wood, the finish works as an accent against a larger piece in the same species.
It is 5 kg in total and unclips at the carabiners, so it packs into a bag and goes up again wherever there is a sound overhead anchor. That portability is the practical case for a suspension trainer over a fixed frame, and the wooden rings survive being thrown in a bag better than moulded handles do.
The Sling needs one overhead anchor and comes down in seconds; a SlimBeam cable machine needs a load-bearing wall and stays where it is bolted, and the WallBar needs 230 cm of wall. For bodyweight work that comes down between sessions, the Sling is the smallest install of the three: one anchor point overhead and 5 kg of hardware.
