Osaki | 4D+3D Bravo Duo Flex
Tired legs are usually the last thing a massage chair reaches, so the Osaki 4D+3D Bravo Duo Flex Massage Chair puts two roller units on one track and gives the lower half of your body its own. The upper unit is 4D, meaning its rollers move up, down, across and in and out of the backrest while changing speed, and it works your back. The lower unit is 3D, the same movement at a steady pace, and its Walking Technology copies the action of walking through your lower back, glutes, hamstrings and knees. Below both, the footrest extends up to 6 inches by itself.
Your back is still covered by the upper of the two mechanisms, which runs from your neck to your lower back. The lower unit sits on your glutes and upper hamstrings. Both ride the same self-adaptive flexible SL-track, which is the single rail that takes the shape of the back pressed against it. It keeps extending as the chair reclines, so the stroke reaches further into the hamstrings the further back you go. Around them sit 38 air cells at the shoulders, arms, calves and feet for a full body air massage, with heating pads at the lumbar and calves running roughly 75 to 83 degrees F. Two-stage zero gravity is the recline that lifts your knees above your heart. A computer body scan reads your shoulders before the first stroke. User capacity is 270 lb. Space-saving construction is the frame that slides forward as the backrest drops, so the chair reclines fully with 4 inches behind it.
Inside the chair
The Bravo Duo Flex puts its engineering below the waist, with a walking motion, a footrest that extends by itself and heated calves, all working your legs, glutes, hamstrings, knees and feet while you sit still.
The numbers
The Bravo Duo Flex takes a user up to 270 lb, wraps you in 38 air cells, extends its footrest up to 6 in. and reclines with only 4 in. behind it.
Closer look
A working day keeps the bottom half of you in one position for hours, and Walking Technology answers that with movement. The mechanism replicates a natural walking motion, traveling through your lower back, glutes, hamstrings and knees and stretching each one gently as it passes. It runs while the rest of the chair works your back and arms. A single program covers both halves of you, so you are not choosing between a back routine and a leg routine. Underneath the motion, the self-adaptive flexible SL-track carries the upper rollers from your neck down to your thighs, so the two meet across your lower back.
A legrest fixed at one length puts short legs past the calf mechanism and long legs off the end of it. The automatic extendable footrest on this chair travels up to 6 inches to meet whatever leg it finds. Measure from the back of your knee to your heel if you want to know where you will sit in that range. Once your calves are in position, three things reach them. Specialized foot rollers turn under your soles with a kneading motion against reflexology ridges shaped to sit on acupuncture points. Air cells squeeze your calves and feet from the sides. Heating pads warm your calves at roughly 75 to 83 degrees F.
An LED lighting effect shifts slowly between two colors, and with the lights down it is the first thing you notice. Everything else in the cabin is built so you never have to get up once a program starts. There is a wireless charging surface for your phone and Bluetooth speakers for whatever is playing on it. A removable headrest and side panels on the arm let you move the chair or start a program without picking up the touchscreen. Intelligent voice control does the same job with your hands where they are, and a computer body scan maps you before the rollers move.
Compare
Among the dual-mechanism chairs Osaki builds below the flagship group, the Flex gives its second, lower unit the job of walking. On the Bravo Duo Flex that unit runs Walking Technology through your legs, glutes, hamstrings and knees, with a footrest that extends 6 in. to meet them. It shares its chair dimensions and flexible track with the 4D Bravo Duo Mech, which brings 22 auto programs to the back.
