Four systems decide what the Yoga Flex reaches and how hard it presses. An independent leg mechanism sits under the seat, and a 4D roller unit works the back. The SL-track carries those rollers, and the chair takes two readings of you before it starts.

Air Walking Technology

An independent leg massager sits under the seat and works on a scissor action, one leg drawing back as the other extends, in the motion of walking. Because the leg section moves as a unit, the movement carries up through your lower back, glutes, hamstrings and knees while your back stays against the track. Airbags squeeze a limb where it lies. Swinging a leg takes a linkage, and on the Yoga Flex that linkage is the scissor action under the seat.

4D Massage Mechanism

A 2D mechanism is the simplest: it travels up and down the track and side to side across it at one fixed distance from your back. A 3D mechanism adds a third axis, which means the rollers move in and out and depth becomes a number you set. The Yoga Flex is 4D, which adds speed to that third axis. The rollers change how fast they push forward and draw back during a single pass. One stroke can run slow and firm through your lower back and quicker through your shoulders.

One Steel Rail from Neck to Hamstrings

The rollers ride one continuous rail of laser-crafted steel that starts at your neck and shoulders, follows the curve of your spine, passes under the seat and finishes at your hamstrings. An S-track is the shorter shape: it follows that spinal curve and stops at your lower back, where the seat begins. An L-track is the rail that keeps going past the tailbone and out under the seat. An SL-track is that same unbroken run, named for both of the shapes along it, which is why a single stroke here has no break at the hips.

Air Walking: A Leg Section That Moves on Its Own

The leg section of the Yoga Flex is a mechanism in its own right, with a motor and a linkage of its own under the seat. It works on a scissor action, drawing one leg back while the other extends, in the same alternating pattern as walking, and the movement travels up through your lower back, glutes, hamstrings and knees. The whole assembly runs independently of the back rollers, so the top half of the chair can be working your shoulders while the bottom half moves your hips. Alongside it, the Revolution calf system adds three modes of its own: Walk, Wave and Stretch. It layers onto any of the sixteen auto programs, so you can keep a back program running and change what the calves are doing underneath it.

One Reflexology Roller Turning Under Each Sole

Under each foot sits a reflexology roller, one per side, turning against the sole while the air cells at the feet and calves squeeze around it. The footrest extends automatically by up to 6.5 in., so it finds the length of your leg without a latch to release or a bar to kick out. A household with a 5 ft 4 in. user and a 6 ft 2 in. user gets the same fit from the same chair. Heating pads sit at the lumbar and at the calves and run roughly 75 to 83 degrees F. Zero gravity on the Yoga Flex runs in three stages. You get three set positions to choose between as the backrest goes down and the legs come up, where a two-stage chair gives you two. Space saving construction slides the base forward as the backrest lowers, which is why the chair reaches a full recline with 5 in. behind it and does not travel back into the room.
