Chattanooga. Manufacturer of record on the user manual is DJO, LLC of Vista, California; Chattanooga is a DJO and Enovis company; and both tanks sell under the Chattanooga name. Performance Health distributes the E-1 under an item number of its own, badged as a Chattanooga unit. A purchase order raised against the Performance Health listing and one raised against the Chattanooga listing are asking for the same 3 gal bench tank, so match them on the model designation, the E-1, rather than on the codes. The 3 gal E-1 ships with four Standard HotPacs, and ordering by either number brings the same unit to the bench.

E-1 13 x 8 x 16 in. (33 x 20 x 41 cm). E-2 15 x 13 x 20 in. (38 x 33 x 51 cm). The height figure is the one that catches people out, because a tabletop Hydrocollator usually goes under a wall cabinet and the E-2 stands 20 in. tall with the lid closed. Leave clearance above it for the lid to open and for tongs to come out of the tank with a pack on them.

E-1 55 lb, E-2 125 lb, water and HotPacs included. Dry weights are 15 lb and 29 lb. A 125 lb E-2 on a countertop or a cart is a different proposition from a 29 lb one, so rate the bench, the shelf or the cart for the filled figure and not for the shipping weight.

Two Oversize, three Standard and one Neck Contour, six packs in all. Two Oversize packs are the largest size in the range, so the set is a real part of what the E-2 costs against the E-1, and it means you need covers in three sizes to put the unit into service on the day it lands.

Four Standard HotPacs, 10 x 12 in. each, in the 3 gal tank. Covers, tongs and a thermometer are separate items on both units, so budget for foam filled terry covers or all-terry microfiber covers with the unit.

The E-1 cabinet is 13 x 8 x 16 in. over a 3 gal tank, and the Oversize HotPac is 15 x 24 in., larger than the unit that would have to hold it. Order Standard 10 x 12 in. packs for an E-1, and ask us to confirm any other size against your unit before you buy a set. The E-2 ships with two Oversize packs, so on the larger tank the question is already settled.

Four with the E-1 and six with the E-2. The E-1 set is four Standard 10 x 12 in. packs; the E-2 set is two Oversize, three Standard and one Neck Contour. If you want to run more packs than the supplied set, tell us the model and the sizes you have in mind and we will confirm the loading with Chattanooga before you order.

Both are Class 1, Type B and UL 60601-1 certified. The E-2 carries Can/CSA C222 No. 601.1 as well. If your facility requires CSA certification on the paperwork, specify the E-2.

The contraindications on a moist heat pack are short. Do not apply a HotPac directly to skin. Do not apply over insensitive skin or in the presence of poor circulation. Do not use a HotPac directly over cuts, abrasions or wounds. Treatment time should not exceed 30 minutes, and a health care professional should be consulted before using HotPacs on non-communicative individuals. Always wrap a HotPac in a towel or terry cover before handling it or applying it to a patient.

A hospital grade electrical outlet with a ground terminal receptacle, which Chattanooga requires for both units. Both units are 1000 W at 110 to 120 V, 50/60 Hz with an internal 15 amp fuse. There is also a risk of explosion if the unit is used in the presence of flammable anesthetics, so the outlet you choose should be well clear of any such store.

The MB cart carries the SS, E-2 and E-1 heating units, so a tabletop tank and a cart go together on a floor that has no bench to spare. A filled E-2 is 125 lb, so confirm the pairing with us before you buy them as a set and we will check the cart configuration against your unit. The stainless steel cart comes in three builds: the two-shelf MB, the three-shelf MB-T and the MB-TD, which trades a shelf for a drawer.

The tank is filled and drained by hand and there is no plumbing connection, so water changes are a manual job on whatever schedule your clinic sets. Chattanooga issues a separate cleaning-instructions document for the Hydrocollator range and we will send you the current version with the unit. Drain before you move either model: a filled E-1 is 55 lb and a filled E-2 is 125 lb, and the water in the tank is sitting at 160 to 165 F.

One year, twelve months, from the date of original consumer purchase, with repair or replacement without charge within thirty days for a covered defect. It excludes misuse, unauthorised repair and failure to maintain the unit as instructed, which on a water bath means keeping the tank filled and clean. Register the unit and keep the invoice with it.

Tabletop if floor space is the constraint and one or two rooms draw from the tank. The mobile SS-2, M-2 and M-4 start at 10 gal and 8 packs, run to 27 gal and 24 packs, and move on their own casters, but they take 4 to 8 hours to reach temperature against 2 hours on an E-1, and an M-4 is 340 lb filled. A clinic that wants a tank in the room and a tank on the floor often runs an E-1 for quick turnaround alongside a larger mobile unit.
