120 V, 50/60 Hz, 11 A on both the single FLU110D and the double FLU115D, with the units classified Class I, Type B and certified to UL 60601-1. Eleven amps is a real draw for a treatment room, so put the cabinet on an outlet that is not already carrying the rest of the room. Export versions, FLU110DE and FLU115DE, run 210 to 250 VAC at 8 A.

From Chattanooga's manual. The device should not be used for symptomatic relief of pain unless etiology is established or unless a pain syndrome has been diagnosed. It should not be used when cancerous lesions or open wounds are present in the treatment area. The same warning covers patients suspected of carrying serious infectious disease, and disease where it is advisable for general medical purposes to suppress heat or fevers. Precautions apply to patients with heart problems, epilepsy and diabetes, and a medical professional familiar with those precautions should be consulted about any patient who may react to dust and pollen.

Either cabinet ships with 30 lb of Cellex included, and the sleeved treatment opening is built into the cabinet, not bought separately. A single FLU110D holds approximately 30 lb at a full charge, so the included medium fills it on day one. A double FLU115D holds approximately 40 lb, so add one 10 lb container of MED0001 to the order and the second cabinet is ready when it lands. Budget three containers a charge on the single and four on the double from the first six-month change onward.

Every six months, on Chattanooga's required maintenance schedule. That works out at six 10 lb containers a year for a single unit and eight for a double. Blower motor and distributor replacement sit at the same six-month service, so the medium change and the mechanical service are one visit.

Chattanooga sets it out by interval. Daily: clean the inlet filters, inspect sleeve condition. Weekly: launder all sleeves in mild antibacterial detergent, remove and inspect top and end sleeves. Quarterly: internal cavity inspection and cleaning, intake filter replacement, full functional and performance tests, distributor replacement if needed. Every six months: change the Cellex medium, replace the blower motor, replace the distributor. Annually: calibration. Quarterly work is specified for a certified technician.

Chattanooga puts this in a warning: "Failure to perform the Required Maintenance could result in the Cellex medium entering the heat chamber of the unit(s) and cause severe injury to patients as well as smoke damage to the facility and the Fluidotherapy unit(s)." Do not use the unit in the presence of flammable anesthetics, where there is an explosion hazard. Put the quarterly technician visit in the calendar before the machine is delivered.

11.5 in. for the single FLU110D and 18.5 in. for the double FLU115D, both over a 34 in. length and a 33 in. height. Cabinet width is the figure to plan the room from, since the double fits two extremities into the same length and height as the single. One year from the original purchase date, 90 days on accessories, and 180 days on motors and distributors, with repairs without charge within thirty days on return. It excludes unauthorised repair, misuse, failure to perform the required maintenance, and damage caused by non-certified technicians, which is one more reason to keep the quarterly technician service on the books.

A third model exists, the FLU210D, at 44 x 12.5 x 35.75 in., 140 lb, with a 60 lb medium capacity. The two current US units are the single FLU110D and the double FLU115D, so ask us if the larger cabinet is what your room needs and we will check availability with Chattanooga before you write the order.

Different machines for different work. Fluidotherapy is an extremity cabinet with a timer, a temperature setting and an air speed control, and the limb goes inside it. A Hydrocollator is a 160 to 165 F water bath that keeps HotPacs hot for application anywhere on the body, with no timer and no per-treatment settings on the unit itself. A clinic that wants a set timer for extremity work and hot packs for everywhere else runs one of each, and the two machines have nothing in common on the maintenance schedule.
