The ReCharge is the smallest panel BioLight builds: 11.3 in. by 8.3 in. of face on a 2.6 in. body, 8 lbs on the scale, 60 LEDs at 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared. It sits on a desk or a bench and covers one area at a time, and BioLight gives it the same touchscreen, the same 1 to 100% brightness control and the same pulse rate control that sits on their full-body ReStore panel.

BioLight's reference figure for it is 63 mW/cm2 at 6 in. at 100% brightness. That number is worth reading with its distance attached, because the panel is small enough that a few inches either way changes it. The rest of the specification is short and clean: 136W, two cooling fans, 100-240VAC at 50/60Hz, a 30 degree focusing lens on each LED, three light settings, a programmable timer, published flicker of 1.2% modulation at 60Hz, and a stated 3 year warranty with a 100,000 hour LED lifespan.

Reading the controls

A Brightness Percentage Is a Setting

Every BioLight panel dims from 1 to 100%, and every one of them publishes a table of what those settings produce. Knowing how to read that table is the difference between a number you can use and a number you cannot.

What a Published Irradiance Table Is For
A brightness percentage tells you where the control is set. It does not tell you how much light lands on a surface, because that depends on the array behind the control and on how far away the surface is. An irradiance table closes that gap: the manufacturer measures the output at each brightness step, at one stated distance, and publishes both. BioLight's reference figure for the ReCharge is 63 mW/cm2 at 6 in. at 100% brightness, and that is the figure this page stands on. The per-step table BioLight publishes underneath it is internally inconsistent, listing the 75% step above the 100% step, so we are not reproducing it here as though it described a working sequence.

The Same Touchscreen as the Full-Body Panel
BioLight removed the physical buttons from this generation and put the light setting, the brightness, the pulse rate and the timer on a touchscreen. Pulse rate reaches 10,000 Hz, which is the same ceiling as their 36 in. ReStore panel, and the timer is programmable so the panel shuts itself off. Published light flicker is 1.2% modulation at 60Hz.

Sixty Emitters on an Eleven Inch Face

The ReCharge's face measures 11.3 in. by 8.3 in. on a 2.6 in. body, with 60 LEDs across it at 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared. Each sits behind a 30 degree focusing lens, so the cone is narrow and the panel is aimed at one area at a time. BioLight's reference output for it is 63 mW/cm2 at 6 in. at full brightness. Three settings decide what comes out of the array: both wavelengths together, red only, or near-infrared only, and the near-infrared-only setting looks close to dark because 850nm sits past the visible band.

Full-Panel Controls on a Tabletop Body

Nothing was removed from the control set to make this the small one. The touchscreen carries the light setting, brightness from 1 to 100%, pulse rate to 10,000 Hz and a programmable timer, the same four controls that sit on BioLight's 36 in. ReStore. Brightness and pulse rate work independently of each other. One note on BioLight's own figures: they publish the bottom of the pulsing range two ways on the same page, as 0 Hz in the description and 1 Hz in the specification block, with 10,000 Hz as the ceiling in both.

BioLight's package list for the ReCharge is four items: the panel with a plug matched to your shipping country, protective eyewear, the owner's manual and their Red Light Therapy Guide ebook. One thing to be clear about before you order, because BioLight's own page is not: their description praises the compact panel and stand design, but no stand appears anywhere in their package contents, and none is offered as an option. Plan on standing the panel on a table or a bench. We have asked BioLight to confirm whether a stand exists for this model.

Frequently Asked Questions

63 mW/cm2 at 6 in. at 100% brightness. That is BioLight's own reference figure for this panel and it is the one we publish. Six inches is the only measurement distance BioLight gives for the ReCharge, so read the number with the distance attached and expect a different reading if you sit closer or further back.
Because their step table does not hold together. BioLight publishes 63 mW/cm2 at 6 in. at 100% and 66 mW/cm2 at 6 in. at 75%, which puts the dimmer setting above the brighter one, and they offer no explanation for it. A brightness ladder that runs backwards cannot be used to plan anything, so we are publishing the 100% reference figure that BioLight themselves repeat in their specification block, and leaving the rest of the table alone. We have asked BioLight to correct or confirm it, and we will publish the corrected ladder when they do.
11.3 in. x 8.3 in. x 2.6 in. at 8 lbs. That is small enough to sit on a desk, a bench or a nightstand and light enough to carry between rooms. Shipped dimensions and shipped weight are not published.
