BioLight ReStore Full-Body Panel

The ReStore is a 36 in. by 12 in. panel carrying 300 LEDs at 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared, and the control that separates it from a plain emitter is the pulse rate. Every LED can be switched on and off at a rate you set, anywhere up to 10,000 cycles per second, or left running continuously. That single control is what the touchscreen on the front is mostly there to reach.

BioLight quotes its output at 56.9 mW/cm2 at 6 in. at full brightness, and publishes the whole ladder underneath it: 56.5 mW/cm2 at 75%, 44 at 50%, 32 at 25% and 13 at 1%, all at the same 6 in. The panel is 3 in. deep, weighs 18 lbs, draws 476W through 8 cooling fans, and takes 100-240VAC at 50/60Hz. It ships with both a floor stand on wheels and a door hanging kit, which is the only device in BioLight's range that arrives with two mounting options in the same box.

What It Means to Pulse a Light Source

Most light panels run continuous wave: the diodes are on for the whole session. The ReStore can also run pulsed, switching every LED on and off at a rate you choose. Here is what that setting is, and what BioLight does and does not publish about it.

Hertz Is a Count of On-Off Cycles
A pulsed emitter switches off and on again at a fixed rate, and the Hz figure counts how many of those cycles happen in one second. At 10 Hz an LED completes ten cycles a second. At 10,000 Hz a cycle lasts one ten-thousandth of a second, far too fast for an eye to resolve, so the panel looks steady while it is pulsing. Because the diode spends part of each cycle dark, a pulsed session puts less total energy on a surface than a continuous session of the same length at the same brightness. BioLight publishes the range and nothing beyond it: no preset modes and no recommended frequency. Their own page attaches an outcome claim to one specific frequency and names no author, journal, year or identifier for it, so that passage is not on this page.

The Full Ladder at 6 Inches
BioLight publishes an irradiance figure for every brightness step, all measured at the same 6 in.: 56.9 mW/cm2 at 100% brightness, 56.5 at 75%, 44 at 50%, 32 at 25% and 13 at 1%. The distance is the part that makes the ladder readable, and BioLight quoting all five at 6 in. is what lets the five be compared with each other.

BioLight removed the physical buttons on this generation and put brightness, light setting, pulse rate and timer on a touchscreen. Behind it, 8 fans handle the heat of a 476W array, and the panel takes 100-240VAC at 50/60Hz so it runs on North American and international supply. Published light flicker is 1.2% modulation at 60Hz and LED lifespan is 100,000 hours.

Three Hundred Emitters Across Three Feet

The ReStore's face is 36 in. tall and 12 in. wide on a 3 in. body, with 300 LEDs across it running 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared. Each LED sits behind a 30 degree focusing lens, which pushes more of its cone forward at whatever is in front of the panel and less of it out into the room. Three settings decide what comes out: both wavelengths together, red only, or near-infrared only. At 18 lbs the panel is light enough to move between the floor stand and the door hanger without help.

Four Settings Behind One Screen

BioLight took the physical buttons off this generation and put everything on a touchscreen: which of the three light settings runs, brightness anywhere from 1 to 100%, the pulse rate up to 10,000 Hz, and the timer. Brightness and pulse rate are independent, so a session can run bright and continuous, dim and continuous, or pulsed at any brightness. One note on BioLight's own numbers: they publish the pulsing floor two ways on the same page, as 0 Hz in the description text and 1 Hz in the specification block. The ceiling is 10,000 Hz in both places.

A Stand and a Door Hanger, Both in the Box

The ReStore arrives with a floor stand on wheels and a door hanging kit, and you do not choose between them at purchase. The stand rolls the panel to wherever the session is happening and holds it upright; the door hanger puts it on the back of a door and gives the floor space back. BioLight publishes no wall mount for this model. The box also carries protective eyewear, the owner's manual and their Red Light Therapy Guide ebook, and the panel ships with a plug matched to the country on the shipping address.

Frequently Asked Questions

Up to 10,000 Hz. BioLight publishes the bottom of that range two different ways on the same page: the description text says 0 to 10,000 Hz and the specification block says 1 to 10,000 Hz. We have printed both figures because BioLight prints both, and we have asked them to confirm which is correct. The ceiling of 10,000 Hz is consistent everywhere on their page.

No. A pulsed emitter is dark for part of every cycle, so over the same number of minutes at the same brightness setting a pulsed session puts less total energy on the surface than a continuous one. BioLight publishes their irradiance ladder against brightness only, so the figures above describe continuous output. They publish no derating table for pulsed operation.
BioLight publishes no recommended frequency and no preset modes for this panel, only the range. Their product page does attach an outcome claim to one particular frequency, with no author, journal, year or reference number behind it. We have left that passage off this page for exactly that reason, and we are not going to substitute a recommendation of our own.
660nm red and 850nm near-infrared, across all 300 LEDs, with three settings: both together, red only, or near-infrared only. Near-infrared at 850nm sits past the visible band, so the near-infrared-only setting looks close to dark while it is running.
BioLight's own name for the emitter in this panel, which they describe as patent-pending and as letting each individual LED produce both wavelengths. Two caveats, both about BioLight's page and neither about the hardware. The sentence they use to explain it on this product page contradicts itself; their clearer wording elsewhere describes each LED emitting red and near-infrared at the same time. And no patent number, application number or jurisdiction is published anywhere, so the patent-pending description is theirs, attributed to them, and not a claim we are making.
