Traditional Barrel Sauna For Two To Four

SunRay Aurora 4-Person Barrel Sauna

The SunRay Aurora 4-Person Barrel Sauna is a red cedar barrel sauna that seats two to four people on a footprint five feet deep by six feet wide. When fewer of you are inside, the spare bench space becomes room to stretch your legs out. A 6 kW Harvia electric heater comes with its stones and takes the room up to 170 degrees Fahrenheit. The interior is 69 inches across, 51 inches deep and 69 inches to the crown of the curve, with ergonomic backrests along the wall.

The shell is solid red cedar in 1 3/8-inch ball-and-socket lumber under a shingled roof built for extreme climates. Outside, the Aurora measures 72 inches wide, 61 inches deep and 76 inches tall, a footprint to plan a backyard pad or deck around.

The Aurora Build

How it works

Inside the Aurora's 1 3/8-inch red cedar staves stands a 6 kW Harvia heater, with ergonomic backrests along the wall and shingles overhead.

Harvia 6 kW heater

The Aurora ships with a 6 kW Harvia electric heater and the sauna stones that go on it. The barrel is built wet/dry, so the same heater gives you dry heat or steam off the stones.

6000 W, 220V, 30 Amp

Ball-and-socket cedar

The barrel is solid red cedar, its 1 3/8-inch staves shaped so each one locks into the next. The joint keeps the shell weather tight once it stands outside.

1 3/8" Lumber

Ergonomic backrests

Ergonomic backrests come in the box and mount against the curved wall, so you can sit back through a long session instead of hunching forward on the bench.

Included

Shingled roof

Shingles cover the top of the barrel, laid for extreme climates. The Aurora works indoors or outdoors, set on a concrete pad, a wood deck or another solid surface.

Aurora Questions

Frequently asked questions

Two to four, in an interior of 69 W x 51 D x 69 H in. with ergonomic backrests along the curved wall.

Yes, a 6 kW Harvia electric heater with sauna stones. The box also holds the flat floor kit, ergonomic backrests, stainless steel hardware, interior dome lighting, the shingled roof, tempered glass, the support cradles, and an accessory kit of bucket, ladle, thermo-hygrometer and sand timer.

A footprint five feet by six, at 72 W x 61 D x 76 H in. outside. Count the support cradles under the shell and the shingled roof at the top of that height, and leave clearance for the door to open.

Delivery is free curbside via freight to the 48 contiguous states, with free delivery damage insurance included. The freight carrier contacts you 24 to 48 hours ahead to set a day and time Monday through Friday inside a 4-hour window. The sauna arrives strapped to a pallet on a 53-foot semi-truck with a single driver, who unloads to your curbside or driveway only. When the driver unloads, inspect the boxes and note any scratches, dents or scuff marks on the delivery receipt.

The heater needs a dedicated 220V circuit at 30 amps, 50/60Hz, much like an electric dryer, and draws 6000 watts. Any licensed electrician can run that circuit, and the dome light needs no additional one.

Up to 170 degrees Fahrenheit, and its built-in delay timer takes a start time up to 8 hours ahead.

SunRay backs the Aurora with 7 years on the structure (the wooden cabin and glass) and 1 year on all parts, including the heater and electronics. Recovery For Athletes is an authorized SunRay dealer.

By an interior dome light mounted on the curved wall, which gives the cedar a soft glow during a session. It does not require an additional electrical circuit.

Assembly takes about two hours for two to three adults with a Phillips head screwdriver or a drill.
