Chattanooga Intelect Transport 2 Combo

The Chattanooga Intelect Transport 2 Combo is a portable electrotherapy and ultrasound combo unit: two stimulation channels and a therapeutic ultrasound generator in one 4.9 lb case, 13.6 x 9.8 x 4.7 in. Combo mode runs stimulation and ultrasound together, with the sound head acting as one pole of the circuit. Five waveforms include VMS, made for stronger, more efficient contractions. A keypad and color LCD set every treatment, on a bench or on the optional magnetic cart. It runs from mains or from the optional Li-Ion pack, and one 5 cm2 ultrasound head ships with the unit.

Output

How it works

The Transport 2 Combo carries two stimulation channels and a dual-frequency ultrasound generator, and combo mode runs them together on a single circuit.

Waveforms up to 500 V
The five are interferential, premodulated, Russian, high volt and VMS. VMS runs 0 to 140 mA constant current or 0 to 140 V constant voltage, at 1 to 200 pps with a 30 to 1,000 microsecond phase duration. Interferential runs 0 to 100 mA on a 2,000 Hz to 10,000 Hz carrier with a 1 to 200 Hz beat, and premodulated works from the same carrier. Russian runs on a 2,500 Hz carrier at 1 to 100 bursts per second, and high volt runs 0 to 500 V constant voltage at 1 to 200 pps.
0-500 V HVPC
Dual-frequency ultrasound
Ultrasound is fully functional at 1 and 3.3 MHz. Duty cycles are 10%, 20%, 50% and continuous, pulse repetition rate is 100 Hz and pulse duration is 1 to 5 ms. The beam is collimating and the beam nonuniformity ratio is under 6:1.
1 and 3.3 MHz
Head sizes and ERA
Effective radiating area, the part of the face that actually emits, is 1.5 cm2 on the 2 cm2 head, 3.0 cm2 on the 5 cm2 and 5.8 cm2 on the 10 cm2, at both frequencies. Continuous output on the 5 cm2 head is 6 W at either frequency and 9 W pulsed. On the 10 cm2 head it is 12.7 W continuous at 1 MHz and 6.9 W at 3.3 MHz.
ERA 1.5-5.8 cm2
Ultrasound coupling detection
With US Coupling switched on, the applicator LED stays lit while the head is properly coupled and administering ultrasound, and it flashes if the head becomes uncoupled. The unit then stops the treatment timer, beeps, or does both. The LED sits on the applicator head itself.

Key features

The lightweight, durable design and the battery option give the Transport 2 Combo the versatility to work with patients and athletes in any professional environment, on the bench or on the optional cart.

VMS waveform
VMS is made for stronger muscle contractions and a more comfortable experience for the patient.
Responsive keypad
A faster refresh rate and a more reactive keypad make the Transport 2 quicker to set between patients.
User Protocol Library
The User Protocol Library holds up to 15 stored protocols of your own on top of the factory set.
Carried in one hand
13.6 x 9.8 x 4.7 in., 8.5 lb shipping. One hand carries it between rooms or into a car.

The range

How it compares

The current Chattanooga electrotherapy line runs from the portable Transport 2 pair up to the modular Vectra Neo console. The Combo is the smallest unit in the group that carries both modalities, at 4.9 lb against 6.8 lb for a two-channel Legend 2 and 20.7 lb for a Vectra Neo head. The Transport 2 Ultrasound is lighter again at 4.2 lb, and it drops the stimulation channels to get there.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

No. This is the Intelect Transport 2 Combo, the second-generation platform. The first-generation Intelect TranSport Combo is a different chassis with a different applicator family behind it, and its applicators, batteries, carry bags and cart adapters do not cross over to the Transport 2.

The unit ships with one 5 cm2 ultrasound head. The 18 V, 3350 mAh Li-Ion pack, the cart and the 2 and 10 cm2 heads are separate orders, and the same pack fits the Transport 2 Ultrasound. Self-adhesive electrodes and coupling gel are the running consumables.

Five on the US market: interferential, premodulated, Russian, high volt and VMS. Both channels carry all five. If you need twelve, the Legend 2 and the Vectra Neo each carry twelve from a single touchscreen.

The Transport 2 series, in 2 cm2, 5 cm2 and 10 cm2, sold as the Transport 2 Ultrasound Applicator. First-generation Intelect TranSport heads do not fit this machine.

No, it is a bench unit at 13.6 x 9.8 in. The optional Chattanooga Electrotherapy Cart attaches magnetically with no tools and is built for the Legend 2 and the Transport 2. It measures 48 cm wide, 52 cm deep and 96 cm high at 10.1 kg, with the device sitting at 108.5 cm.

The waveform, the channel, the amplitude and the timer, before the applicator goes on. Electrotherapy timers run 1 to 60 minutes and ultrasound and combo mode run 1 to 30 minutes, and with US Coupling on, the LED on the applicator head stays lit while the head is coupled and flashes when it is not.

Do not use the device when cancerous lesions are present in the treatment area, on pregnant women, or with implantable neurostimulating cardiac demand pacemakers, ICDs or other implantable electronic devices. Do not apply it transthoracically or across the chest, at the anterior neck or in the mouth, do not apply ultrasound over the eye, and do not apply ultrasound over or near bone growth centres until bone growth is complete. Chattanooga further warns against turning the unit on or off while it is connected to the patient. Read the full list in the manual before the first treatment.

The Combo, when the room runs electrotherapy. It adds two stimulation channels and five waveforms to the same chassis, battery, applicator family and coupling detection, and stimulation cannot be added to the ultrasound-only machine afterwards.

Operating range is 5 to 40 deg C at 15% to 90% relative humidity, and storage and transport run -20 to 60 deg C, whether the machine is running from mains or from the Li-Ion pack.
