Chattanooga Intelect Legend 2 - EStim / Ultrasound / Combo Device

The Chattanooga Intelect Legend 2 is a tabletop combination unit: a clinical electrical stimulator and a dual-frequency therapeutic ultrasound generator in one case, driven from a single touchscreen. Twelve stimulation waveforms, four ultrasound applicator sizes, and a combo mode in which the sound head serves as one of the two stimulation poles. It sits on a bench, clips magnetically to the optional cart, and runs on mains or on Chattanooga's optional Li-Ion battery pack.

The Legend 2 is ordered as one of two builds and the choice is made once. The two-channel combo weighs 6.8 lb (3.1 kg) and measures 14 x 13.4 x 5.9 in. The four-channel combo weighs 8.2 lb (3.7 kg) and measures 14 x 13.4 x 7.5 in. Shipping weights are 10.8 lb and 13 lb respectively, and the two are otherwise the same machine, with the same twelve waveforms, the same ultrasound section, the same software and the same warranty term behind them.

Mains input is 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 1.0 A on both configurations, with the draw given as 1.0 to 0.42 A. The electrical safety class is Class 1, Electrotherapy Type B, Ultrasound Type B, and the device is rated IP20 with an IPX7 ultrasound applicator. The Legend 2 is built for a clinic treatment room and for an operator who sets the whole treatment: one of twelve waveforms in constant current or constant voltage, ultrasound on a 1, 2, 5 or 10 cm2 head at 1 MHz or 3 MHz, and up to 12 preset or custom protocols saved to the home screen so the treatments that room runs every day start in two button pushes.

Output

Twelve Waveforms and Two Frequencies Behind One Screen

Stimulation and ultrasound share one case on the Legend 2, twelve waveforms on one side and a dual-frequency generator on the other, and the two sides run on their own or together. Output figures are identical on the two-channel and the four-channel build, which differ only in channel count, case height and weight.

01

All Twelve Waveforms on Both Configurations

The twelve run VMS, VMS Burst, interferential, premodulated, asymmetric biphasic, symmetric biphasic, high volt, microcurrent, Russian, HAN, direct current and VMS FR. Both TENS waveforms and VMS reach 0 to 140 mA constant current or 0 to 140 V constant voltage, and VMS adds 1 to 200 pps with a 30 to 1,000 microsecond phase duration. High volt runs 0 to 500 V, microcurrent runs 0 to 1,000 microamps, and direct current runs 0 to 40 mA. The same twelve arrive on the two-channel build and on the four-channel build.

0-140 mA

02

Why the Second Frequency Reads 3.3 MHz

Ultrasound runs at 1 MHz +/- 10% and 3 MHz +/- 10%, and Chattanooga markets the second of those as 3.3 MHz. Intensity is 1 to 3 W/cm2 depending on frequency and mode, duty cycles are 10%, 20%, 50% and continuous, the beam is collimating and the beam nonuniformity ratio is under 5:1. Ultrasound treatment time runs 1 to 30 minutes on any of the four head sizes.

1 to 3 W/cm2

03

Four Applicator Sizes and Their Real ERA

Nominal 1, 2, 5 and 10 cm2 heads carry effective radiating areas of 0.9 to 1.0, 1.0 to 1.5, 2.5 to 2.7 and 6.0 to 6.8 cm2. Continuous output runs 2 W on the 1 cm2 head up to 6.8 to 12 W on the 10 cm2, and pulsed output runs 3 W up to 13.6 to 18 W. ERA sits at roughly half the nominal label across this family, which is the number to dose against when you work in W/cm2.

04

Two Routes to a Running Treatment

The SPS menu takes a clinician from the anatomical library to a running treatment in three button pushes. 2&Go holds up to 12 preset or custom protocols on the home screen and starts one of them in two pushes. The anatomical library also carries electrode and applicator placement guidance, and the software is the same on the two-channel build and the four-channel build.

Ownership

What a Legend 2 Costs After Delivery

Twelve waveforms and four head sizes arrive in a single bench unit on the Legend 2, and the costs that come after the delivery are short: electrodes as the standing consumable, three separate warranty terms, and two accessories that are each ordered on a line of their own. The cart and the Li-Ion battery pack are those two.

01

6.8 lb, or 8.2 lb

The two-channel unit is 5.9 in. tall, the four-channel 7.5 in. Both are 14 x 13.4 in. on the bench.

02

Two-year device warranty

24 months from the date of original consumer purchase, on the unit itself.

03

Applicators carry one year

Cart and ultrasound applicators are warranted 12 months and accessories 90 days, against two years on the device itself.

04

Standard clinic power

100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 1.0 A, with the draw given as 1.0 to 0.42 A.

05

Optional Li-Ion pack

18.15 V, 3250 mAh, 58.98 Wh, ordered separately. The unit also runs from mains at 100 to 240 VAC.

06

Cart is optional

The cart measures 48 cm wide, 52 cm deep and 96 cm high at 10.1 kg. It attaches magnetically.

07

Electrodes are the consumable

Self-adhesive electrodes wear out, and the ultrasound side consumes coupling gel. Budget for both from day one.

08

Three pushes to a treatment

The SPS menu starts from the anatomical library, and 2&Go holds up to 12 protocols on the home screen.

In detail

Channels Cannot Be Added After Purchase

Two channels or four

The One Decision That Changes the Hardware

Chattanooga builds the Legend 2 as two separate catalogue items. The two-channel build gives two stimulation channels in a 5.9 in. tall case at 6.8 lb. The four-channel build gives four channels in a 7.5 in. case at 8.2 lb, and ships at 13 lb against the two-channel unit's 10.8 lb. Waveforms, ultrasound performance, applicator options, software and warranty terms are identical on both units, and the taller case is the only thing a clinician sees on the bench. Channels cannot be added later, so the choice is made once, at order. A four-channel unit runs one region with four electrode pairs or up to four regions at once, where the two-channel unit does half of that.

  • Two-channel build: 2 channels, 6.8 lb (3.1 kg), 14 x 13.4 x 5.9 in.
  • Four-channel build: 4 channels, 8.2 lb (3.7 kg), 14 x 13.4 x 7.5 in.
  • Shipping weight 10.8 lb and 13 lb respectively
  • Both builds occupy the same 14 x 13.4 in. of bench, and only the height changes
  • Same twelve waveforms and same ultrasound section on both

Combo mode

Stimulation and Ultrasound on One Applicator

The two sides run independently or together, and combo mode is what puts them on the same circuit. In combo mode the ultrasound applicator carries the stimulation current as one of the two poles, with a surface electrode completing the circuit. Ultrasound treatment time runs 1 to 30 minutes, on its own or in combo. On the stimulation side, interferential runs a 2,000 Hz to 10,000 Hz carrier at 0 to 100 mA, Russian runs a 2,500 Hz carrier, and HAN runs at 80 pps with a 180 microsecond phase duration. VMS itself runs 0 to 140 mA at 1 to 200 pps with a 30 to 1,000 microsecond phase duration, and VMS Burst and VMS FR are the other two members of that family on the same channels.

  • Ultrasound, stimulation, or both from one screen
  • Interferential and premodulated: 2,000 Hz to 10,000 Hz carrier, 0 to 100 mA
  • VMS: 0 to 140 mA, 1 to 200 pps, 30 to 1,000 microsecond phase duration
  • Ultrasound treatment time 1 to 30 minutes
  • Duty cycles 10%, 20%, 50% and continuous

Fitment

Three Near-Identical Families That Never Fit

The Legend 2 has its own ultrasound applicator family in 1, 2, 5 and 10 cm2, and it is shared with no other Chattanooga platform we sell. Three further applicator families in Chattanooga's catalogue carry near-identical titles and none of them fit: the Transport 2 heads, the first-generation Intelect TranSport heads and the Vectra heads. All four families look alike in a photograph and screw into machines that sit on the same bench, so order applicators against the machine name and generation on the unit in your room, and confirm it with us before you buy. The cart is the one accessory the Legend 2 does share, because the same Chattanooga electrotherapy cart carries the Transport 2 as well.

The range

Everything Already in a 6.8 lb Box

Chattanooga's current electrotherapy generation runs to three platforms, and the Legend 2 is the one that arrives complete. There are no modules to specify and no capability to add later, because twelve waveforms and a dual-frequency ultrasound generator are already in a 6.8 lb box. The Vectra Neo trades that for modularity and a laser option, and the Transport 2 Combo trades it for 4.9 lb and a battery.

Questions

Which Legend 2 Ships on Your Order?

Stimulation channels, height and weight. The two-channel build is 6.8 lb and 5.9 in. tall. The four-channel build is 8.2 lb and 7.5 in. tall. Both are 14 x 13.4 in. on the bench, both carry the same twelve waveforms and the same ultrasound section, and both run the same software. Channels cannot be added after purchase, so buy the four-channel unit if there is any chance the room will want four.

In catalogue order: VMS, VMS Burst, interferential, premodulated, asymmetric biphasic, symmetric biphasic, high volt, microcurrent, Russian, HAN, direct current and VMS FR. All twelve are on the two-channel build and on the four-channel build, and the waveform list is not a reason to choose between them.

Both numbers belong to the same machine. The generator runs 1 MHz +/- 10% and 3 MHz +/- 10%, and Chattanooga markets the second of them as 3.3 MHz. Work to 1 MHz and 3 MHz +/- 10% when you set a protocol, and ask us if the exact centre frequency is decisive for your work.

Given as ranges: 0.9 to 1.0 cm2 on the 1 cm2 head, 1.0 to 1.5 on the 2 cm2, 2.5 to 2.7 on the 5 cm2, and 6.0 to 6.8 on the 10 cm2. ERA is roughly half the nominal label on this family, which matters if you dose in W/cm2. Continuous output runs from 2 W on the smallest head to 6.8 to 12 W on the largest.

The Intelect Legend 2 Ultrasound Applicator comes in 1, 2, 5 and 10 cm2, and the size decides the effective radiating area you dose against. The Legend 2 head is a different part from the Transport 2 head, from the first-generation Intelect TranSport head and from the Vectra head. Each of those four families runs its own applicator series and none of them crosses over, and the heads look close enough in a photograph to be mistaken for one another on a shelf. Order against the machine name and generation printed on the unit you own, and send us the model from the label if it is not clear, so the right head ships the first time.

No. Treat them as separate families: the Legend 2 and Transport 2 heads carry different part numbers and are ordered from different listings. The Transport 2 range also has no 1 cm2 head, where the Legend 2 does, so a four-size family and a three-size family are not interchangeable at any size. Order against the number printed on the head you are replacing.

An optional Li-Ion pack, rated 18.15 V, 3250 mAh and 58.98 Wh and also carried as an 18 V, 3350 mAh unit. It is ordered separately, so it does not arrive in the carton with the machine. The Legend 2 also runs from mains at 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 1.0 A.

The unit, its power cord and its documentation. The electrotherapy cart and the optional Li-Ion battery are add-ons on their own order lines, and so are extra ultrasound applicators and coupling gel. Confirm the exact carton contents with us before you order, because the accessory list depends on the configuration you buy.

No. It is a bench unit at 14 x 13.4 in. The optional Chattanooga Electrotherapy Cart attaches magnetically with no tools and measures 48 cm wide, 52 cm deep and 96 cm high at 10.1 kg. The same cart carries the Transport 2, so a clinic running both machines buys one cart design.

Three things worth knowing. The SPS menu reaches a running treatment in three button pushes, 2&Go stores up to 12 preset or custom protocols on the home screen and starts one in two pushes, and an anatomical library carries electrode and applicator placement guidance. The same software runs on the two-channel build and the four-channel build.

Two years (24 months) from the date of original consumer purchase on the device, one year on the cart and the ultrasound applicators, and 90 days on accessories. Three separate terms run at once, which means an applicator replaced in month 14 is outside its own warranty even though the unit is still inside the device term.

A trained clinician in a treatment room, on either configuration. The operator picks one of the twelve waveforms, runs it in constant current or constant voltage at 0 to 140 mA or 0 to 140 V, chooses the applicator size and the 1 MHz or 3 MHz generator for the ultrasound side, and then either steps through the SPS menu in three button pushes or starts one of the twelve protocols held in 2&Go. An anatomical library on the same screen carries electrode and applicator placement guidance, so the settings and the layout come off one display. Electrical safety is Class 1, Electrotherapy Type B, Ultrasound Type B, the unit is rated IP20 and the applicator IPX7, which decides how each part is cleaned between patients.

Do not use the Legend 2 in pregnancy, over cardiac pacemakers or implantable electronic devices, over cancerous lesions in the treatment area, or over swollen, infected or inflamed areas, and the system is not for use in an MRI or CT environment. Those points are a summary and no substitute for the manual, so read it in full before treating a patient.

Four. A two-channel unit runs one region with two electrode pairs or two regions at once, and the four-channel build doubles that to four pairs across as many as four regions. Both configurations carry the same twelve waveforms at 0 to 140 mA, so channel count is the only thing that separates the two builds. In combo mode the ultrasound applicator takes the place of one electrode in a pair, with a surface electrode completing the circuit.

The Legend 2 arrives complete, with all twelve waveforms and the ultrasound section already in the box. The Vectra Neo arrives as a base unit and every modality is a separate module purchase, which is what buys you sEMG and a Class 3B laser option the Legend 2 does not have. Take the Neo when you want sEMG or laser on the same console, and take the Legend 2 when twelve waveforms and four head sizes at 6.8 lb is the whole requirement.

Waveform count and head sizes. The Legend 2 carries twelve waveforms and four applicator sizes; the Transport 2 Combo carries five waveforms on the US market and three applicator sizes, at 4.9 lb against 6.8 lb. The Transport 2 Combo runs 1.5 to 3 hours of treatment on a charge, where the Legend 2's optional pack is rated 18.15 V, 3250 mAh and 58.98 Wh.
