Chattanooga Vectra Genisys

Chattanooga Vectra Genisys Transport Laser

The Chattanooga Vectra Genisys Transport Laser is a portable low-level laser therapy console with real-time dosage feedback and independent control over every parameter. The console holds the controls, the display and the dosimetry, and the diodes live in interchangeable applicators that plug in and identify themselves. Heads run from 100 to 1440 mW across 670 to 950 nm. They range from a single diode for a trigger point to a 33-diode cluster for a broad muscle group. Dose reads in joules or joules per cm2 while the treatment is still running. It is a Class 3B laser, light enough for a table, a wall mount or a bag.

Laser safety and output

How it works

A Class 3B console comes with its own safety rules, and the applicator fitted sets the optical power from 100 to 1440 mW.

The Applicator Fitted Sets the Hazard Distance
The Transport Laser is a Class 3B laser light product and emits visible and invisible laser light radiation (IR). Its nominal ocular hazard distance runs 6.2 to 15.24 m, depending on the power output of the applicator fitted: 6.2 m on the 100 mW single diode and on the 540 mW and 415 mW clusters, 12.4 m on the 200 mW head and the higher-power clusters, and 15.24 m on the 300 mW single diode.
By applicator
Eyewear and the Beam Warning
Laser protective eyewear should be worn by the operator and patient to block infrared light energy from the eyes during treatment. DO NOT point the laser light beam directly into human or animal eyes. The lens of the eye does not detect the invisible, coherent laser light beams, potentially resulting in permanent retinal damage. Further pairs are sold as the Chattanooga Laser Protective Eyewear.
Operator and patient
Applicators Set the Output
Eight interchangeable applicators run from a single 850 nm laser diode up to a 33-diode cluster that mixes laser diodes, superluminescent diodes and LEDs. The head on the end of the cable decides what the console delivers, 100 to 1440 mW across 670 to 950 nm. Each applicator carries an Electronic Signature the console reads on connection, and a head change is plug and use.
8 applicators
Dose Control and Power
Pulse frequencies run from 8 Hz to 10,000 Hz plus a continuous mode, with duty cycles of 90 percent pulsed and 100 percent continuous, and delivered dose is reported in joules or joules per cm2 in real time. Mains input is 120-240 V, 1.0 A, 50/60 Hz, 75 W max, and the electrical classification is Class 1, Type B. The NiMH pack keeps the console working on a ward round or in a room with no free outlet.

Built to travel

Key features

A lightweight console, a battery option and a mount for table top, wall or cart make the Transport Laser easy to move between rooms and out of the clinic.

Clinical protocols
A useful selection of clinical indications sits on the console beside user-defined protocols.
Independent control
Every parameter is set independently, on a fully functional device with continuous and pulsed treatment modes.
Mobile carrying bag
A custom-designed carrying bag, sold as an option, takes the console and its battery out of the clinic.
Clean the lens before every use
Use the NOVUS Polish System on the plastic lens. Failure to clean the lens between patient therapy sessions could cause beam fragmentation.
Patient stop switch in the box
The patient stop switch ships with the console and puts a way to stop the beam in the hand of the patient.
Light enough to carry
6.4 in. tall with base, 12.9 in. deep, 9.4 in. wide without an applicator. The pack adds 1.87 lb.
Warranty on console and heads
Chattanooga backs the console for 24 months from the date of original consumer purchase and each applicator for 12 months.
Module version for Genisys systems
A clinic that already runs a Vectra Genisys electrotherapy or combination system can add laser as a module instead.

How it compares

Each of these portable Chattanooga units works a different modality: laser on the Transport Laser, stimulation with sEMG on the VitalStim Plus, and two-channel stimulation on the Continuum.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

The console, two pairs of laser protective eyewear, the patient stop switch and the user manual on CD. The applicator is sold separately: the diodes live in it, so the unit emits only once one is fitted. Eight Vectra laser applicators are available, from a single 850 nm laser diode to a 33-diode cluster.

A single diode for trigger point work, a cluster for a larger area. Higher power probes allow a shorter treatment time or a higher dosage, and the 9, 13 and 33-diode clusters cover bigger muscle groups and joints. The head you fit sets both the output, 100 to 1440 mW, and the wavelength, 670 to 950 nm.

Do not use it: where analgesia may mask progressive pathology; for direct aim into the eyes of humans or animals; over areas injected with steroids in the past 2-3 weeks; over areas that are suspicious or contain potentially cancerous tissue; over areas of active hemorrhage; over a pregnant uterus; over the neck (thyroid or carotid sinus region) or chest (vagus nerve or cardiac region of the thorax); directly over areas with open wounds, unless covered with a clear protective barrier; over sympathetic ganglia; for symptomatic local pain relief unless etiology is established or unless a pain syndrome has been diagnosed; on patients suspected of carrying serious infectious disease and or disease where it is advisable, for general medical purposes, to suppress heat or fevers; over or near bone growth centers until bone growth is complete; over the thoracic area if the patient is using a cardiac pacemaker; over or applied to the eye; or on ischemic tissues in individuals with vascular disease where the blood supply would be unable to follow the increase in metabolic demand and tissue necrosis might result. Patients with an implanted neurostimulation device must not be treated with or be in close proximity to any shortwave diathermy, microwave diathermy, therapeutic laser diathermy or laser diathermy anywhere on their body.

Yes. The laser requires annual calibration, from the date placed in service, by a service technician certified by Chattanooga Group, and the applicators are recalibrated annually too.

Yes. The NiMH pack of twenty AA cells at 1.2 V gives 2 to 5 hours of treatment, depending on the power, pulsed mode and frequency used. It weighs 1.87 lb and is sold as the Transportable Battery Pack. The console itself is 5.07 lb with an applicator and base fitted.

The eight Vectra laser applicators, the TranSport carry bag and the Vectra Genisys therapy cart. The console sits on a table top, mounts on a wall or docks to that cart.

Yes, laser therapy can be controlled from the laser applicator, and the operator works with the head in hand and the dose in view on the console.

The Transport Laser is the standalone console. The Vectra Genisys Laser Therapy Module adds the same capability to a Vectra Genisys electrotherapy or combination device you already own, so a clinic with a Genisys console usually takes the module and a clinic without one takes this console.

The console is covered for two years (24 months) from the date of original consumer purchase and each applicator for one year (12 months).
