There is no motor in the recline path: you lean back, your own weight carries the seat and the backrest through the arc, and you come forward again by shifting your weight the other way. Everything else about it lines up with the powered PC-610 exactly. The same three base finishes, Walnut, Dark Walnut and Matte Black. The same three upholstery packages, Comfort, Performance and Supreme, with the same contents. The same 400 lb maximum load weight. And the same warranty, which is the strongest Human Touch publishes on anything: 7 years structural, 7 years parts, 7 years labor. One difference decides between these two chairs, and it is the mechanism.

Upright the chair occupies 47 in. L x 31 in. W x 51 in. H. Reclined it runs to 64 in. L x 31 in. W x 31 in. H, which is 11 in. flatter at full recline than the PC-610, and it needs 9 in. of clearance behind it. The seat measures 23 in. wide by 21 in. deep by 18 in. high, the deepest seat of the three Perfect Chairs. Human Touch publishes the chair weight as a range, 73 lb to 82 lb, because the package changes what is in the pad set. It ships in two cartons, a 98 lb base and a 23 lb pad set, and no height range is published on any Perfect Chair. One caveat carries real consequence: a Performance or Supreme PC-420 has powered functions even though the recline is manual, so it still needs an outlet.

Manual Recline on Your Own Weight

Human Touch publishes it as a manual recline mechanism that uses your own body weight to transition into a wide range of reclined positions. The arc is the same shape the powered chairs travel; what moves you along it is your mass shifting behind the pivot. There is no motor, no cord and no control in the recline path, which is also to say there is no powered assistance in getting back up. Human Touch publishes no detent count, no lock positions and no count of preset positions.

Powered Parts in a Manual Chair

This is the specification most easily misread. The recline is manual on every PC-420, but the Performance package adds a power-adjustable lumbar system and the Supreme package adds the Far-infrared Jade Stone Heat System plus integrated controls with a power hub and cord management. A Performance or Supreme chair therefore needs mains power for those functions. Only a Comfort PC-420 is a genuinely cordless chair. Human Touch publishes no voltage and no wattage for any of them.

Arrives with the Performance package and carries through to Supreme, where Human Touch words it as Memory Foam PLUS conformation. It is the seating layer in the pad set, and it is one of the reasons the published chair weight climbs from 73 lb at the light end to 82 lb at the heavy end. Human Touch publishes no foam density, no thickness and no layer count, so the material name is the whole specification and we add nothing to it.

Articulating Headrest, Magnetic Clasp

The headrest angle moves separately from the backrest, and on this chair Human Touch specifies the fixing as a magnetic clasp, which is a detail it does not publish on the other two Perfect Chairs. The extended armrests come in at Comfort and run the length of the reclined position. The tuxedo back cover is Supreme only. Human Touch publishes no articulation range in degrees and no magnet strength.

Power Recline and Manual Recline

Across the six recliners on this site, five recline under power and this one does it on body weight. It is the only specification that separates the PC-420 from the PC-610, so it is worth understanding properly before you pick between two chairs that are otherwise the same.

Body Weight Does the Work

In under the arm is where a manual chair keeps its recline, and there is no motor anywhere in that path. The arc is cut into the base geometry and gravity does the rest: shift your weight behind the pivot and the seat and the back rotate together, bring it forward again and you come up. A powered chair such as the PC-610 puts a motor between the base and the seat frame, and it moves you. Here you move the chair. Human Touch publishes no count of positions, no detents and no lock points, so it settles where your weight sits.

The Manual Chair Lays Out Flatter

Fully back, the mechanism changes the geometry a little. The PC-420 reclines to 31 in. high where the PC-610 stops at 42 in., so this is the flatter of the two at full recline, and the reclined footprint is 64 in. L x 31 in. W x 31 in. H. Upright it stands 51 in. tall, the tallest of the three Perfect Chairs, on a 47 in. by 31 in. floor plan, and it needs 9 in. of clearance behind it to get there. The seat measures 23 in. wide by 21 in. deep by 18 in. high.

Pick It for the Person Who Will Sit in It

In use the test is easy to run and easy to get wrong on paper. If the person using the chair is comfortable shifting their weight to start and stop the motion, a manual chair does the same job with fewer parts to fail and no cord for the recline. Both offer the same three base finishes and the same three upholstery packages with the same contents, both carry a 400 lb maximum load weight, both need 9 in. of rear clearance, and both are warranted 7 years structural, 7 years parts and 7 years labor. The dimensions differ slightly: this chair is 47 in. L x 31 in. W x 51 in. H upright and reclines to 31 in. high, where the PC-610 is 46 in. L x 32 in. W x 46 in. H upright and reclines to 42 in.

So Performance and Supreme chairs need mains power even though the recline is worked by hand. Human Touch publishes no voltage and no wattage for any configuration, so plan an outlet within reach of the chair position.

The three packages are cumulative and identical to the ones on the PC-610. Comfort is a cushioned body pad, extended armrests and an articulating headrest, in Black SofHyde only. Performance adds Memory Foam PLUS seating and the power-adjustable lumbar system, in Premium Leather. Supreme adds the Far-infrared Jade Stone Heat System, integrated controls with a power hub and cord management, and a tuxedo back cover, in Premium Leather. The package also sets the material and therefore the color list, which the PC-610 page explains in full.

Three base finishes: Walnut, Dark Walnut and Matte Black. The pad set color follows the package. Comfort is Black SofHyde with no alternative. Performance and Supreme are Premium Leather, and Human Touch's own storefront lists Oak, Saddle, Gray, Ivory, Black and Espresso. Our variants are built as base finish crossed with package, so name the leather color you want when you order and we will confirm it with Human Touch before the order is placed.

Human Touch publishes no height range for the PC-420, and none for the PC-610 or PC-365 either. Height range appears only on their massage chairs and on the three ZG chairs. The nearest published figures are the seat at 23 in. wide by 21 in. deep by 18 in. high, the deepest Perfect Chair seat, and the reclined length of 64 in. We will not print a ceiling Human Touch has not published. If a specific user height decides the purchase, ask us and we will put the question to Human Touch in writing.

It is Human Touch's published figure for this chair, and all three Perfect Chairs carry it. It is the highest maximum load weight Human Touch publishes in this range. Do not carry it across to the ZG chairs: the Laevo ZG and the Vesta ZG are both rated 285 lb. That gap matters most on the Laevo, because it is the lift chair and the one people shop for a heavier user.

Human Touch's warranty schedule places the PC-610, PC-420 and PC-600 in this band for units purchased from 5 January 2022. It is worth stating plainly because it is unusual: on most Human Touch products the headline figure covers only the frame, and the PC-365 is 3 years structural with 1 year labor despite also being a Perfect Chair. Exclusions Human Touch names include normal wear such as foam softening, leather texture variation and creasing, damage from animals or pests, and damage from power surges.

No. The zero gravity recliner protection plans name four chairs, the Gravis ZG, Laevo ZG, Vesta ZG and PC-365, and the PC-420 is not one of them. With 7 years of parts and 7 years of labor from the factory there is nothing left for a 3-year or 5-year plan to extend. If you want that confirmed in writing before purchase, ask us.

In two cartons. The base is 38 in. L x 31 in. W x 27 in. H at 98 lb gross and the pad set is 45 in. L x 29 in. W x 9 in. H at 23 lb gross. The two arrive separately and have to be joined, so assembly is required unless you take the White Glove upgrade, which covers first-floor delivery, assembly in the room of your choice and removal of all packaging. Standard To Your Door delivery is free to the 48 contiguous states and leaves the cartons at the front door, first floor only. Inspect both at the door and document any damage, because Human Touch states in writing that shipping damage is not a warranty defect and must be reported at the time of delivery.

Human Touch publishes no certification statement on the PC-420 page, so we assert none. No UL, ETL, CSA, FDA, CE or FCC mark appears anywhere on their product page for this chair, including on the Supreme configuration that carries a powered heat system. If certification documentation is a condition of your purchase, ask us and we will request it from Human Touch in writing before you order.
