Jugs | Baseball Backyard Package
The Jugs BP2 Baseball Backyard Package is a backyard batting cage and pitching machine setup in one order: the three-wheel mini3 Baseball Pitching Machine, a 65 ft cage on an outdoor frame, an L-shaped pitcher's screen and 2 dozen Pearl baseballs. The mini3 throws eight preset pitches at 30-80 mph, so the same machine feeds a backyard hitter and a college lineup. Pinpoint micro-adjustment moves the pitch around the zone. The 65 ft net gives every hit ball its full flight, and the #7 net arrives with the frame cut to fit it.
The contents are the mini3 Baseball Pitching Machine, the Backyard Batting Cage #7, #27 Breaking-Strength at 11 ft x 11 ft x 65 ft, the Outdoor Frame for Batting Cage #7, the Protector Blue Series L-Shaped Pitchers Screen and 2 dozen Pearl baseballs. Put together, they cover the machine that throws, the net that catches, the frame that holds the net up, the screen the feeder stands behind, and the balls to start with.
The package suits backyard players, high schools, colleges, professionals and hitting facilities. The mini3 plugs into a standard 110V AC outlet, and Jugs backs it with a 2-year guarantee on all parts, normal wear and factory defects.
Machine, cage and screen
The mini3 throws, the 65 ft cage catches, and the L-shaped screen covers the person feeding the machine.

Closer look
The contents run A through E, and each one is matched to the next: the machine, the cage it throws into, the frame that holds that cage, the screen in front of the machine and the balls it throws. Setup starts with the mini3. Slide the three pinned legs into the base until the pins engage, add the rubber crutch tips if the machine works indoors, and lift it upright with two people. Two legs face the pitching screen and the batter, and one faces back, with the speed dial at OFF before the cord goes in.
The cage carries two numbers, a net designation and a twine grade. The #7 is the net designation, and the frame is cut to fit it. The #27 is the twine, graded by breaking strength, and a higher number is a heavier twine. The cage runs 11 ft wide, 11 ft high and 65 ft long, the same net that goes into the baseball build of the Backyard Net Package. The frame in this package is the Outdoor Frame for Batting Cage #7, sold for the same net.
The net has to match the frame it hangs on, the frame has to be the outdoor version if it is going to live outside, and the balls have to be ones the machine's wheels will grip. Those decisions are made in one order: the #7 net comes with the frame cut for the #7 net, the L-shaped screen comes with the machine it protects the feeder from, and the Pearl baseballs are on the mini3's own recommended ball list. Keep the mini3's tires at 20 psi and wipe them with a damp cloth only, and the grip stays consistent from the first dozen to the last.
Compare
The BP2 Baseball Backyard Package is the long-cage baseball build: 65 ft of net, an outdoor frame and a machine that throws to 80 mph. The Hit at Home and softball backyard packages also carry a machine; the Backyard Net Package is the cage without one.
