Jugs | Softball Backyard Package
The Jugs Michele Smith Softball Backyard Package is a fastpitch batting cage and pitching machine setup for the backyard: the three-wheel mini3 Softball Pitching Machine, a 55 ft net with its frame, a C-shaped protective screen and 2 dozen LeatherLast softballs. One machine throws risers, drops, fastballs, curves and screwballs at up to 70 mph, the movement a fastpitch hitter has to read. The net runs 12 ft wide and 12 ft high. The screen shields the pitcher or coach feeding balls.
The package holds the mini3 Softball Pitching Machine, the #10 Backyard Net in #42 twisted knotted black polyethylene at 55 ft long by 12 ft wide by 12 ft high, the Frame, the Protector Blue Series C-Shaped protective screen, 2 dozen LeatherLast softballs, and the Backdrop and Pitcher's Trainer.
The machine is the mini3 Softball, with a 30-70 mph range. The package suits backyard players, youth leagues, high schools and colleges. The mini3 plugs into a standard 110V AC outlet and carries a 2-year guarantee on parts, normal wear and factory defects.
Net, machine and screen
A heavier net, a three-wheel softball machine and a C-shaped screen make up the working parts of the package.

Closer look
The contents run A through F, and the machine is where setup starts. Insert the mini3's three legs into the base and tighten the leg bolts, then lift it upright with two people. Two legs go in front, facing the pitching screen and the batter, and one leg faces back toward the operator. Keep the Grip-Tite tires at 20 psi so the pitch stays consistent from session to session.
The net in this package is a foot wider and a foot higher than the 11 ft BP2 and Hit at Home baseball cages, and ten feet shorter than the 65 ft BP2 cage. That shape suits what a fastpitch machine does: a riseball climbs and a drop falls, so the ceiling and the width carry the movement while the pitcher's circle sits closer than a baseball mound. The net is designated #10, knotted from #42 twisted black polyethylene twine and paired with the steel frame in item C. The polyethylene twine takes on no water, which suits wet or humid climates.
The mini3 Softball challenges hitters with fastballs, right- and left-handed curves and screwballs, risers and drops up to 70 mph. One machine covers the whole fastpitch movement set, so the package serves college hitters as well as backyard players. The 55 ft net gives the pitch its full flight before it hits anything.
Compare
The softball package is the fastpitch build: a 12 ft x 12 ft net in #42 twine, the heaviest twine of the four packages, and a machine that throws risers and drops.
