Jugs | Changeup Baseball
The Jugs Changeup Baseball Pitching Machine is a single-wheel pitching machine that throws fastballs up to 70 mph and changeups as low as 44 mph, switched with one click of a remote. The coach can change speeds near the machine, beside the hitter or from the dugout, and the remote reaches up to 300 feet. Hitters see each pitch from a realistic 64 in. delivery height, on the downward plane a live pitcher gives them. At 75 lb., the machine rolls on its 16 in. pneumatic tire to any spot on the field. It is built for high school, college and travel ball hitters.
One button drops the speed, and the hitter gets no warning. The remote sits on a keychain and works virtually anywhere on the field, so the coach watching the swing decides what the next pitch will be.
Underneath the changeup circuit, the Changeup Baseball is a 75 lb single-wheel machine on a 16 in. pneumatic tire with a speed range of 15-70 mph, the same weight, tire and range as the BP1. The swivel base gives 360-degree movement for fly balls, pop-ups and ground balls. It runs on a standard 110V AC outlet, with the speed set on a dial on its digital readout panel.

Closer look
The machine throws up to 70 mph fastballs and changeups at speeds as low as 44 mph. The gap between those two numbers is 26 mph, and the machine crosses it at the touch of a button with the hitter still in the box. The machine was built for that drill: a hitter who has learned to square up 70 mph has to hold his weight back when 44 arrives, with no windup, grip or arm speed to read it off. Set the fastball between 60 and 70 mph and the drop to the changeup takes about 8 seconds, and it lands between pitches with the hitter none the wiser.
The 64 in. ball delivery height lets hitters see the pitch thrown from a realistic release point, and 64 in. is a shade over five feet, which puts the ball on a downward plane into the zone. The base under it swivels 360 degrees, so between rounds of batting practice the same machine turns to the outfield and throws fly balls, pop-ups and ground balls. At 75 lb. on a 16 in. pneumatic tire, one coach rolls it to wherever that drill needs to happen. Overall it stands 68 in. tall and 47 in. wide, and the tire runs at 16 to 17 psi.
Compare
The Changeup Baseball shares its remote changeup with one other Jugs baseball machine, the three-wheel BP3 at 40-90 mph, and does it on one wheel at 75 lb.
