Jugs mini3 Softball Pitching Machine

The Jugs mini3 Softball Pitching Machine is a three-wheel softball pitching machine that throws a variety of pitches at 30-70 mph with accuracy and adjustable speed. Seven pre-set pitches sit on the Select-A-Pitch dial: fastballs, risers, drop balls, and curveballs and screwballs from either side. An LCD readout shows the speed and pitch selection and beeps when the wheels reach the set speed. Pinpoint vertical micro-adjustment fine-tunes pitch height, while macro levers and full 360-degree rotation send 250 ft fly balls for full field practice. At 95 lbs. it rolls on its own transport cart.

Three 1/4 HP motors turn three patented Grip-Tite 9 in. non-marking pneumatic tires that last up to 20 years, 4x longer than solid tires. Those small wheels keep the head compact: the machine stands 36 in. tall and 32 in. wide. Power comes from 110-volt AC or the Bluetti AC70P Portable Power Supply.

How it works

Spin axis and spin
A pitch moves because the ball is spinning and the air pushes it perpendicular to that spin axis. Backspin lifts, topspin pulls down, and sidespin drives the ball left or right. A machine with one wheel can only put spin on one axis; the BP1 Softball throws risers, fastballs and drops. The mini3 Softball surrounds the ball with three wheels set around it. Drive all three at the same speed and the ball leaves with almost no spin. Slow one wheel relative to the other two and the ball rolls off the faster pair, and the axis of that rotation tilts toward whichever wheel is lagging. Tilt it one way for a riseball climbing on backspin. Tilt it the other for a drop ball falling on topspin. Tilt it sideways and the same head throws a curveball breaking one direction and a screwball breaking the other, and a fastpitch hitter sees genuinely different pitches out of one machine that never moves. The dial stores those relationships as 7 pre-set pitches, so a coach picks a pitch and never has to dial three wheel speeds by hand.

The Seven Pre-Set Pitches
The dial holds fastballs, risers, drop balls, right- and left-handed curveballs, and right- and left-handed screwballs. Because each one is a preset, a coach who wants a riseball round after a curveball round changes the setting and starts the next round, with no calibration between them.

Motors and Grip-Tite tires
Each wheel gets its own 1/4 HP motor, so each wheel speed is set independently and that is where the pitch shapes come from. The tires are patented Grip-Tite 9 in. non-marking pneumatic, held at 20 psi. Small wheels keep the three-wheel head compact; the BP3 Softball runs the same Grip-Tite construction at 12 in. and the Changeup Super at 16 in.

Speed and pitch location
Three settings sit above the pitch selection. Speed runs 30-70 mph on the speed dial, and the LCD beeps when the wheels arrive. Pinpoint vertical micro-adjustment raises or lowers where the ball crosses the plate, and the vertical and horizontal macro levers turn the head through a full 360 degrees.
