NOHrD | Fitness Walls
The NOHRD Wall Compact is a wall-mounted fitness station that carries a cable machine, a ski trainer, a full set of free weights and a touchscreen training system in one wooden unit measuring 121.5 x 217 x 50 cm (47.8 x 85.4 x 19.7 in.). It weighs 250 kg (551 lb) and sits just 4 cm (1.6 in.) off the wall face, which is how a full functional training station takes up half a metre of room depth. The left-hand section is NOHrD's SlimBeam cable machine, built in, running a 75 kg (165 lb) weight stack on a 3:1 cable ratio. The right-hand section is a cross-country ski trainer working on an eddy current brake with an adjustable resistance setting.
Between them, on the wall itself, sits a full set of eight hand-stitched leather NOHRD SwingBells, one pair each at 2, 4, 6 and 8 kg, which is 40 kg (88 lb) of free weight stored in plain sight. The touchscreen training system runs the guided sessions, covering cable training, ski work, free weights and bodyweight exercise, and a daily streamed Workout-of-the-Day sits on the same screen. A Bluetooth chest belt pairs to it for heart rate, and other Bluetooth equipment can be brought into the software alongside it.
Two things decide whether the Wall Compact can go where you want it. It is a wall-mounted unit, so 250 kg of equipment, the SlimBeam column's 75 kg stack in motion and the person training all pass into the wall behind it, which makes the wall the first question in the order and never an afterthought. It also needs a power connection, with the cord plugging into the back of the unit, so the socket has to be planned in before the panel goes up. Six finishes are offered, every one of them real wood veneer over panel and not solid timber, and the price ladder between them runs differently on this unit from the way it runs on the rest of the range. It ships on one pallet, it is assembled on site, and NOHrD backs it for one year from shipment, going to two years on components and wooden components when you register inside that first year.
The hardware
The Wall Compact puts a cable machine on the left, a ski trainer on the right and the free weights between them, and drives the lot from a single screen. Four pieces of hardware share 121.5 cm of wall, which is the entire proposition and the reason the unit weighs a quarter of a tonne.
01
The left-hand section is NOHrD's SlimBeam cable machine built into the wall unit, with a 75 kg (165 lb) weight stack and a 3:1 cable ratio, which is the ratio that turns a heavy stack into a usable range at the handle. The butterfly arms swivel and set at the height you want, so pressing, pulling, rotating and pulldown patterns all come off the same column without rehanging anything. The stack is the only adjustable resistance on the unit and it is the part that makes the Wall Compact a strength machine as well as a cardio one.

The right-hand section is a cross-country ski trainer built to reproduce the double-pole action, and the resistance comes from an eddy current brake with its own setting. An eddy current brake has no pads and nothing to wear through. NOHrD uses the same principle across its bike line, and it keeps the resistance quiet enough for a unit that lives in a house. Cable training on the left and ski work on the right means one wall covers strength and cardio without a second machine on the floor.

A full set of NOHRD SwingBells comes with the Wall Compact, eight bells in one pair each at 2, 4, 6 and 8 kg, which is 40 kg (88 lb) of free weight. They are hand-stitched genuine leather over iron granules, and they store directly on the wall unit where the set is visible and reachable, so the free-weight part of a session needs nothing brought in from another room. The same bells are sold on their own as the NOHRD Swing Bells set, on a tower or a board.

The touchscreen training system is built into the unit and carries the guided sessions for cable training, ski work, free weights and bodyweight exercise, so the four pieces of hardware are programmed from one place. A daily streamed Workout-of-the-Day runs on the same screen for people who would rather be told what to do than plan it. Pair a Bluetooth chest belt and heart rate comes onto the display, and other Bluetooth equipment can be brought into the software alongside the wall itself.

Installation
One part of a Wall Compact order has to be settled first, because nothing else can be fixed afterwards. A 217 cm unit weighing 250 kg is carried entirely by the wall behind it, and it needs a power connection at the back, so the wall and the socket decide the room.
01
551 lb of unit, the SlimBeam column's 75 kg stack in motion and the person training all pass into the wall. Send us your wall construction and we will get NOHrD's installation requirements for it.
02
85.4 in. tall and 47.8 in. wide, so the wall needs a clear run with no window head, beam or duct crossing it.
03
The unit sits 1.6 in. off the wall face and is 50 cm deep in total, which is less room depth than most sofas take.
04
The cord plugs into the back of the unit, so the outlet has to be behind the panel. Ask us to confirm the supply your site needs before the install date.
05
It ships on a single pallet and is built and hung in the room, so plan access for the pallet as well as the wall.
06
Allow clear floor for cable work, the ski action and floor exercise in front of a 121.5 cm wide unit.
07
Six veneers over hardware that is identical inside whichever one you order.
08
One year from shipment, going to two years on components and wooden components when you register inside the first year.
In detail
The cable side
The cable machine in the Wall Compact is NOHrD's SlimBeam, the same column the company sells as a standalone wall-mounted cable trainer, integrated into the left-hand section of the unit. It runs a 75 kg (165 lb) weight stack through a 3:1 cable ratio, and the butterfly arms swivel and lock at the height you set them to, putting a chest press, a row, a pulldown, a rotation and a low pull on a single column. If a cable machine on its own is what the room actually needs, the standalone NOHRD SlimBeam is 20 x 40 x 215 cm, mounts to a load-bearing wall at a 10 cm standoff, and runs the same 75 kg stack at the same ratio.
The cardio side
The right-hand section is a cross-country ski trainer, which is how the unit covers cardio without a treadmill or a bike in the room. It reproduces the double-pole action with two cable handles pulled down from above, and the resistance comes from an eddy current brake with a setting you dial in. Eddy current braking is contactless, so there are no pads wearing down and nothing to replace on a service schedule, and it is quiet in a way friction braking is not. Ski work on the right and cable work on the left means the unit covers both halves of a session on 121.5 cm of wall.
The range
NOHrD builds its fitness walls in two different ways. The Wall Compact is the finished single unit, 121.5 x 217 x 50 cm, with the cable machine, the ski trainer, the SwingBells and the screen already in it, and it is the one we stock. The modular NOHRD Wall is the other route: up to five freely combinable modules in real wood veneer, all selectable in a 220 to 240 cm height range, where a main module carries the screen and the free weights and separate modules add the cable stack, the ski erg, wall bars in 60 to 80 cm widths with up to 11 bars, and shelving in 40 to 80 cm widths. The modular route lets a commercial room be configured to its wall; the Compact lets a house have the whole thing on one panel.
The range
NOHrD answers the whole-gym-in-one-object brief three times, and the three answers differ mainly in how much floor they take and whether they touch a wall. The Wall Compact is the only one that mounts to the wall and the only one that plugs in, and it is the only one with a weight stack.
Bench-height box at 121 x 57 x 45.5 cm holding three pairs of SwingBells, four tubes, a jump rope and a cork mat.
Upright cabinet at 141 cm tall on a 50 x 48 cm base, carrying four pairs of dumbbells and a cork floor kit.

Questions
Yes. It is a wall-mounted unit with no freestanding version, standing 217 cm (85.4 in.) tall, 121.5 cm (47.8 in.) wide and sitting 4 cm (1.6 in.) off the wall face. The unit alone is 250 kg (551 lb), and the stack, the ski trainer and the person training all add to what the wall is holding. Which wall it can go on is therefore the first decision in the order. Send us the construction of the wall you have in mind and we will get NOHrD's installation requirements for that wall type before anything is confirmed.
Four things, all built into or stored on the one unit: the SlimBeam cable machine in the left-hand section with its 75 kg (165 lb) stack, a cross-country ski trainer in the right-hand section, a full set of eight hand-stitched leather SwingBells at 2, 4, 6 and 8 kg in pairs, and the touchscreen training system. Nothing on that list is an optional extra.
One year from the date of shipment, covering private and commercial use, with repair or replacement at NOHrD's works in Nordhorn or a nominated service centre. Register the unit within that first year and the term becomes two years on all components and all wooden components. Spare parts carry ninety days. Cables, handles and upholstery are treated as wear items, and the cover excludes modification and missed maintenance.
Yes. A power connection has to be available and the cord plugs into the back of the unit, which means the outlet needs to be behind the panel and planned in before it goes up. Ask us to confirm the supply requirement for your site with NOHrD before the install date is set, because the socket position is not something you can change once 250 kg of unit is on the wall.
75 kg, which is 165 lb, on the SlimBeam column built into the left-hand section, running on a 3:1 cable ratio. That ratio is what makes a stack of that size usable: it divides the load at the handle and multiplies the travel, so the same column suits light single-arm work and heavy pulling. The butterfly arms swivel and set at the height you choose. One machine covers a press, a row, a pulldown and a rotation.
The wall carries the SlimBeam column's 75 kg (165 lb) stack and a 250 kg (551 lb) unit weight, and those are the two figures a fixing has to be specified against. The 250 kg is the unit itself, hung 4 cm off the wall face across a 121.5 x 217 cm panel, so the fixings carry that mass before anyone touches a handle, and the wall behind it has to be sound over the full 217 cm of height. For reference, the standalone SlimBeam cable machine carries its own 100 kg (220 lb) user rating, and that figure belongs to the standalone column.
A full set of eight bells, one pair each at 2, 4, 6 and 8 kg, which is 40 kg (88 lb) of free weight. They are hand-stitched genuine leather over iron granules and they store directly on the wall unit. The same bells are sold separately as the NOHRD Swing Bells set, on a freestanding tower or a wall-mounted board, so the set on the Wall Compact is the complete one and not a partial version of it.
It runs the training system for all four pieces of hardware, covering cable training, ski work, free weights and bodyweight exercise, and it carries a daily streamed Workout-of-the-Day. A Bluetooth chest belt pairs to it so heart rate appears on the display during a session, and other Bluetooth equipment can be brought into the software alongside the wall. The four pieces the software addresses are the SlimBeam cable machine on the left, the ski trainer on the right, a full set of eight hand-stitched leather SwingBells and the bodyweight work the frame itself supports, so one screen covers the whole wall rather than one station on it. The cable side runs at the SlimBeam's 3:1 ratio, which is the figure the training programmes are built around.
The SlimBeam is the cable column by itself: 20 x 40 x 215 cm, 120 kg, the same 75 kg stack at a 3:1 ratio, mounted to a load-bearing wall at a 10 cm standoff, and rated to a 100 kg (220 lb) user. The Wall Compact takes that column and adds the ski trainer, the SwingBells and the touchscreen across a 121.5 cm panel weighing 250 kg. Buy the SlimBeam if cable training is the whole requirement, and the Wall Compact if one wall has to cover cardio and free weights as well.
With an eddy current brake and an adjustable resistance setting. Eddy current braking is contactless, so nothing rubs, nothing wears out and there is no pad to replace on a maintenance schedule, and it stays quiet at effort, which matters in a house. The action is the double-pole pull of cross-country skiing, worked on two handles from the right-hand section of the unit.
It ships on one pallet and is assembled and mounted on site. Plan the access route for a pallet and not for a carton, and have the wall and the power position confirmed before the delivery date. Tell us about stairs, lifts or tight turns when you order and we will flag them on the delivery so nothing arrives that cannot get into the room.
Six, all of them real wood veneer: Shadow, Oak, Vintage, Club, Cherry and Walnut. Shadow opens the ladder and Walnut closes it, and on the Wall Compact the middle runs differently from the rest of the range: Club and Vintage price level with each other, and Oak prices level with Cherry above them. Shadow is the black-stained one, Oak is real oak veneer and Vintage carries an aged character finish. The hardware behind the veneer is identical whichever you choose. The NOHRD Care Set covers the wood care oil and cloths for keeping the finish up.
The Wall Compact is one finished unit with everything already in it. The modular NOHRD Wall is a system of up to five freely combinable modules in real wood veneer, all selectable in a 220 to 240 cm height range, where the main module carries the screen and the free weights and the others add the cable stack, the ski erg, wall bars at 60 to 80 cm wide with up to 11 bars, and shelving at 40 to 80 cm wide. We stock the Compact. If a commercial room needs the modular configuration, ask us and we will quote it from NOHrD.
The unit itself is only 50 cm (19.7 in.) deep including its 4 cm standoff, so the panel takes very little of the room. What needs planning is the working space in front of it: enough floor to stand and pull the cables through their full travel, to work the ski action, and to get down on the floor for bodyweight exercise, across the full 121.5 cm width of the unit.
