NOHrD | Swing Bells

NOHrD Swing Bells Leather Free Weights With Tower or Board

The NOHrD Swing Bells are a set of eight hand-stitched leather free weights supplied with a wooden rack, sold either as the free-standing Swing Tower or the wall-mounted SwingBoard. The set is two pairs each of 2, 4, 6 and 8 kg, which is 40 kg (88 lb) of bells across eight pieces, and both racks hold all eight. Each bell is a leather pouch filled with iron granules, hand-stitched in genuine leather, with a body measuring 20 x 25 x 12 cm. A training book comes with the set to cover the movements the weights are built around.

The granules are what separate a SwingBell from a fixed dumbbell of the same weight. Iron fill moves inside the pouch as the bell travels, so the load arrives a fraction behind the hand through a swing and the grip and the shoulder take a shifting load instead of a static one. On slow, controlled movements the bell behaves close to a fixed weight; through a fast swing, the fill is the part you notice.

The Swing Tower is a free-standing column 87 cm tall on a 34 x 34 cm base plate (13.4 x 13.4 in.), weighing about 10 kg (22 lb) empty and roughly 50 kg (110 lb) with the full set of bells on it, and it carries a holder for a tablet or a phone. The SwingBoard is the wall-mounted version at 157 x 22 x 8.6 cm, and it takes the same eight bells on a wall with no floor space at all. Six wood finishes run across both, Shadow, Oak, Vintage, Club, Cherry and Walnut, cheapest to dearest in that order, with Walnut also offered with black leather. The set ships as three packages and is assembled on site, and NOHrD backs it for one year from shipment, taken to two years on components and two years on wooden components by registering inside the first year.

Iron Granules Inside Stitched Leather

Each bell is hand-stitched genuine leather over a fill of iron granules, in a body 20 x 25 x 12 cm, and the fill is what gives the set its character. Eight of them come in the box across four weights, and the rack you choose decides whether they live on the floor or on a wall.

01

Eight Bells From Two to Eight Kilograms

The set is two pairs each of 2 kg, 4 kg, 6 kg and 8 kg, eight bells and 40 kg (88 lb) in total. Having two of every weight is what makes the set work for two-handed swings and for alternating work, and the 2 kg step between sizes is a sensible jump on a movement driven by the hips. Both the Swing Tower and the SwingBoard hold the complete set of eight, so nothing has to sit on a floor between sessions.

02

Hand-Stitched Leather Over Iron Granules

Every bell is a genuine leather pouch, hand-stitched and filled with iron granules, measuring 20 x 25 x 12 cm in the body. Leather over a granule fill lands softly if a bell is set down on a wooden floor, which is not something a cast iron kettlebell of the same weight can be trusted to do. The stitching is the part that does the structural work, and it is why these are made by hand and priced as a leather good as much as a free weight.

03

Fill That Moves With the Swing

Iron granules shift inside the pouch as the bell travels, so the weight arrives slightly behind the hand at the top and bottom of a swing. The grip, the forearm and the shoulder take a load that is moving and not fixed, and the effect grows with the speed of the movement. Held still or moved slowly, a SwingBell behaves much like any other free weight of the same mass. Swing Bells take their name from that fill, and it is why the set is cased in leather.

04

A Training Book in the Box

A training book comes with the set, which matters more here than on a rack of dumbbells because swing work is technical and the movements are less familiar than a curl or a press. The Swing Tower also carries a holder for a tablet or a phone at the top of the column, so a video sits at eye level while you work. Between the book and the holder, the set arrives with somewhere to start.

The bells

Granules That Shift as the Bell Moves

Eight bells come in the set, two each of 2, 4, 6 and 8 kg, giving 40 kg of leather-cased weight. Each one is a hand-stitched genuine leather pouch filled with iron granules, 20 x 25 x 12 cm in the body, and the fill is loose enough to travel inside the pouch while the bell is moving. Through a fast swing that gives a load which arrives a fraction late at the top and the bottom, so the grip and the shoulder work against something moving. Held or pressed slowly, the bell is simply a 6 kg or an 8 kg weight in a soft case. Walnut sets are offered with natural or black leather, and the leather is the surface that ages with use.

  • Two pairs each of 2, 4, 6 and 8 kg
  • 40 kg (88 lb) of bells across eight pieces
  • Hand-stitched genuine leather over iron granules
  • Bell body 20 x 25 x 12 cm
  • Natural or black leather on the Walnut sets

The SwingBoard

A Wall Board 157 Centimetres Wide

The SwingBoard is the wall-mounted way to keep the set, measuring 157 x 22 x 8.6 cm and holding all eight bells. It uses no floor at all, which is the argument for it in a room that is already doing another job, and at 8.6 cm deep it projects less than a shelf. The wall it goes on has to carry the 40 kg of bells plus the board itself, so a solid substrate and fixings chosen for it are part of the installation. Both racks hold the same eight bells and the choice between them is a question about the room and not about the training.

  • 157 x 22 x 8.6 cm, wall-mounted
  • Holds all eight bells, 40 kg of load
  • 8.6 cm of projection from the wall
  • Available in the same six wood finishes
  • Needs a wall and fixings that will carry the set

The Swing Tower

A Standing Column With a Tablet Holder

The Swing Tower is the free-standing option: a column 87 cm tall on a 34 x 34 cm base plate, which is 13.4 x 13.4 in. on the floor. Empty it weighs about 10 kg (22 lb), and with the full set of bells on it a loaded tower comes to roughly 50 kg (110 lb), all of it standing on that small base. No wall is involved, so it can be moved between rooms and it suits anyone who cannot drill where they train. A holder at the top takes a tablet or a phone at eye height, which is where the training videos go while you work. Both the tower and the board arrive across three packages for assembly on site.

  • 87 cm tall, 15 x 15 cm column
  • Base plate 34 x 34 cm (13.4 x 13.4 in.)
  • About 10 kg (22 lb) empty, near 50 kg (110 lb) loaded
  • Tablet and phone holder at the top
  • Free-standing, with no wall fixing

The range

Free Weights Beside the Racks and Benches

Free weights among five larger NOHrD strength pieces, the Swing Bells are the lightest individual weights in the group, 40 kg spread across eight hand-stitched leather bells running 2 kg to 8 kg. The DumbBell Set and WeightPlate Tower carry far more weight, the SquatRack and WeightBench hold a loaded bar, and the TriaTrainer folds into three shapes.

Questions

Which Bells Come With Which Rack

Two pairs each of 2, 4, 6 and 8 kg, which is eight bells and 40 kg (88 lb) of bells in total. Both the Swing Tower and the SwingBoard hold the full set of eight, so the rack you choose does not change the weights you get.

The eight bells come to 40 kg (88 lb). The Swing Tower weighs about 10 kg (22 lb) on its own, so a tower with the full set loaded onto it stands at roughly 50 kg (110 lb). Use 40 kg when you are working out what you will be lifting and 50 kg when you are working out what the floor is carrying.

It is a question about the room. The Swing Tower is free-standing, 87 cm tall on a 34 x 34 cm base, needs no wall and moves between rooms, and it carries a tablet holder at the top. The SwingBoard is wall-mounted at 157 x 22 x 8.6 cm and uses no floor at all, which suits a room with furniture already in it. Both hold the same eight bells.

Hand-stitched genuine leather over a fill of iron granules, with a body measuring 20 x 25 x 12 cm. The leather is the visible surface and it ages with handling; the granules are the mass. Walnut sets come with natural or black leather.

The fill moves. A cast iron kettlebell is one solid mass and behaves the same whatever the speed; a SwingBell is a leather pouch of iron granules, so the load shifts inside the case and reaches the hand a fraction late through a fast swing. The leather case also means a bell set down on a hardwood floor does not land like cast iron. Held still, the two are much the same thing at the same weight.

One that will carry 40 kg of bells plus the board hanging off it. Masonry, concrete and solid structural timber all do; a hollow partition on its own does not. The board is 157 cm wide, so the fixings can be spread across more than one stud where the wall is framed. Tell us what your wall is built from and we will talk it through before the order goes in.

Yes, there is a dedicated tablet and phone holder at the top of the column, which puts a screen at eye level while you train. With the training book in the box and a video on the holder, the set covers both ways of learning the movements.

Six: Shadow, Oak, Vintage, Club, Cherry and Walnut, cheapest to dearest in that order, on either the Tower or the Board. Walnut is also offered with black leather on the bells. Shadow is the black-stained wood-veneered entry, Oak is the pale open grain, Vintage carries an aged character finish, Club prices level with Vintage in the middle of the ladder, and Cherry runs warm toward red in real cherry veneer.

The base plate is 34 x 34 cm, or 13.4 x 13.4 in., and the column stands 87 cm tall in a 15 x 15 cm section. Roughly a third of a square metre carries 50 kg of tower and bells, so a level floor matters more than a large one. Allow clear swinging room around it, which is a bigger number than the base plate.

Yes, a training book ships with the set. Swing work is more technical than a curl or a press, and the book covers the positions the eight weights are built around. It is a useful thing to have in the room at the start, alongside the tablet holder on the Tower.

Three packages, assembled on site. That covers the rack and the bells, and it keeps each carton to a weight one person can move, which matters with 40 kg of bells in the consignment. The Board is fixed to the wall as part of that installation.

One year from the date of shipment, taken to two years on components and two years on wooden components by registering the set inside that first year. Spare parts carry ninety days. The term covers private and commercial use, and it excludes normal wear, which on a leather product means the patina the bells pick up with handling.
