Programmable Three-Wheel Pitching

Sports Attack Elite eHack Attack Baseball Pitching Machine

The Elite eHack Attack is a three-wheel baseball pitching machine run from a 12" touch screen. Eight standard pitches sit one tap away, and every one of them can be re-cut for speed, spin and location without a coach touching the throwing head. Sports Attack rates the machine at 100+ MPH and lists it as pitches only, so its whole job is live at-bat work.

Three wheels grip the ball in three places, which is where the machine gets its control and its recovery. Sports Attack publishes a recovery time of less than 8 seconds between pitches and notes that with three wheels it is close to instant. The frame weighs 325 lbs, heavy enough to absorb recoil, and comes off the field on two heavy-duty transport wheels that are separate from the throwing wheels.

Interface

One menu, four routes to a pitch

The main menu splits the machine into Standard Pitches, Favorite Pitches, Manual Pitches and Settings. A coach running a station picks the route that matches the drill: pre-sets for a quick round, favorites for the pitch a hitter has been working on, manual mode to build something new.

  • Oversized 12" touch screen monitor for navigation through the software
  • Standard default pitch selection, favorite pitches, favorite sequences and manual mode all reached from here

Favorite Sequences

Build an at-bat, then run it four ways

A sequence holds as many as 10 pitches per sequence and saves to the favorite sequences screen, which is how you challenge the mechanics of a hitter or replicate a specific pitcher. Each sequence carries four run types, and the order is yours to set on the fly.

  • "auto" runs the pitches once in the order you saved them
  • "repeat" pitches the sequence in order continuously
  • "random" randomizes the list
  • "manual" selection lets you change the order as desired
  • Inside a sequence, the speed, spin and location of a single pitch can be modified and re-saved within that sequence

Standard Pitches

Eight pre-sets, and a strike zone you can move

The standard pitches screen holds the eight defaults for quick, simple operation. Each one is a starting point: adjust speed and spin to the skill of the hitter, then place it in the strike zone or in the enlarged strike zone that covers a two strike count.

  • Fastball, change-up, heater, split finger, curveball right and left, slider right and left
  • Speed and spin on any standard pitch adjust to the requirement of the drill
  • Location moves within the strike zone or the enlarged strike zone (two strike count)
  • Settings hold a skill level for standard pitches, adult or youth
  • Any fine-tuned pitch saves to favorites from the standard pitches screen

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Sports Attack lists the speed as 100+ MPH. The same spec sheet lists the machine under Fungo as pitches only, so its single job is pitching.
The Standard (pre-set/default) Pitches screen holds fastball, change-up, heater, split finger, curveball right and left, and slider right and left. Each one is instantly accessible, and the speed and spin of any of them can be customized to the requirement of the drill or the skill of the hitter.
Sports Attack publishes a recovery time of less than 8 seconds, and notes that with three wheels it is almost instant.
Yes. The location of any standard pitch can be modified in the strike zone or the enlarged strike zone that represents a two strike count. Between pitches, the location adjusts instantly using arrows on the screen.
You can save 20 pitches to your favorites file and call any of them back in any order at any time. A pitch saves to favorites from either the manual mode screen or the standard pitches screen, and from the favorites screen you can alter its spin, speed and location and re-save it.
On the favorites screen, last pitch calls up the pitch you were throwing before the machine was powered down, so the next session starts where the last one stopped.
A sequence holds as many as 10 pitches per sequence. Every sequence carries four run types: auto selects the pitches once in the order you saved them, repeat pitches the sequence in order continuously, random randomizes the list, and manual selection lets you change the order as desired.
In manual mode the machine functions as a basic Hack Attack, giving you access to each motor so you can develop each desired pitch. Individual pitches or sequences built in manual mode can be saved to favorites for instant access.
Within Settings you select the skill level for the standard pitches, either adult or youth.
Settings include a screen lock-out option that lets you establish a password before machine operations can be reached.
Utilities holds machine diagnostics and error code definitions, software updates downloaded from the Sports Attack site, and a counter that tracks the number of pitches thrown by the machine during the life of the unit. Speed units switch between MPH and KMH in Settings, alongside language, auto shut-down time, buzzer volume and screen brightness.
The three-wheel design lets the hitter see the ball clearly and fully through the feeding motion, acceleration and release, the way it looks off a live pitcher, so the stride and the angle of release are visible. Sports Attack also credits the three-wheel grip, which holds the ball in three locations, with the machine's control and accuracy.
The machine weighs 325 lbs and measures 48 × 40 × 42 in. It moves by tilting it, un-socketing the legs and rolling it on two heavy-duty transport wheels that are separate from the throwing wheels. The extra wide tripod base gives it stability on pitching mounds and typical baseball playing surfaces, and the weight is there to absorb recoil.
Sports Attack stands behind the material and workmanship of its machines and all wear components, including throwing wheels, controllers and motors, for two years for residential and institutional buyers and one year for commercial buyers, from the date of original purchase based on the serial number and date codes on the unit.
