Jugs BP1 Combo Baseball/Softball Pitching Machine

The Jugs BP1 Combo Baseball/Softball Pitching Machine is a pitching machine that helps baseball and softball hitters build timing, confidence and consistency with game-like pitches at 15-70 mph. A single 16 in. pneumatic tire, spun by a motor and set by a digital control, throws every pitch to the same place round after round. Digital speed adjustment dials in the exact mph, from a coach-pitch tempo at 15 to high school batting practice at 70. It is the most widely used youth-league pitching machine in the world.

Both sports come in the box. For baseball the BP1 Combo ships with a 9 in. chute and long straight legs; for softball, a 12 in. chute and short curved legs. The adjustable release point mimics the downward plane of a live pitcher. Power is 110V AC, with the Yamaha EF2000iS V2 Generator and the Complete Practice Battery Pack as compatible options for fields with no outlet.

How it works

A single wheel on a 16 in. pneumatic tire throws the ball, and a digital control sets how fast that wheel turns.

How a single wheel throws
The BP1 Combo is a single wheel design on a 16 in. pneumatic tire, and that design explains most of what the machine does. One wheel spins against the ball as it drops out of the chute and drives it out at whatever speed the wheel is turning, so speed is the variable the digital control sets. The payoff is repeatability: one motor, one tire, one contact point, and a pitch that arrives in roughly the same place every time.

The adjustable release point on the BP1 Combo mimics the downward plane of a live pitcher for a true game-like experience. A real pitch arrives on a descending line because it leaves a hand above the hitter's head. The long straight legs set that plane for baseball and the short curved legs set the flatter softball delivery.

The digital speed adjustment on the BP1 Combo dials in exact speeds from 15-70 mph, a range it shares with the BP1 Baseball and BP1 Softball, and it covers two age groups off one machine. It comes with the right chutes and legs to switch quickly between baseball and softball. Once the BP1 Combo is set down at the field, the swivel base turns the machine to mix in fly balls, grounders and pop ups without repositioning it, so batting practice becomes infield work without anybody lifting anything.
