Full-Size Soccer Ball Machine

Sports Attack Strike Attack Soccer Machine 12V DC

The Strike Attack Soccer Machine 12V DC is the full-size machine in the Sports Attack soccer line. Sports Attack rates it at 75+ mph and 70+ yards, which puts a driven ball into the box and a cross from the far touchline inside one machine's range. Placement, speed and spin lock into position, so the same ball arrives on the same line as long as the drill runs.

Two electronically controlled variable speed DC motors drive the throwing wheels independently. Setting one wheel faster than the other is what produces the bend; setting both the same produces a flat ball with no spin. Six bearings carry a full 180° rotation of the throwing head, giving a 360° variable spin plane, and the telescoping rear leg changes elevation from ground level to a high arching ball. Sports Attack has been designing sports training machines for 50+ years.

What Produces the Bend

Every shot the Strike Attack throws comes from four parts working together: two motors, a rotating head, a pair of concave wheels and a 12V lithium battery. Here is what each one contributes.

⚙️
Two Variable Speed DC Motors
The two motors are electronically controlled and independent of each other. Wheel speed sets separately on each side, which is how the machine delivers a ball with any degree of spin at any speed, or with no spin at all.
Independent wheel speed
🔄
Six-Bearing Throwing Head
Six bearings carry the throwing head through a full 180° of rotation. Rotating the head repositions the axis the two wheels spin around, which gives the coach a 360° variable spin plane to work from.

Concave Throwing Wheels
The throwing wheels measure 10" in diameter and 4" wide. The concave face conforms to the surface of the ball, which is what Sports Attack points to for gripping surface and reduced slippage across #3, #4 and #5 balls.

🔋
12V Lithium Battery Box
A 24Ah 12VDC lithium battery sits in a rubber-padded box that shields it from impact and vibration, with an LED Power Display on the outside. Charge time is 2.75 hours and a full charge runs approximately 4 hours.

What a Full-Size Machine Opens Up

Ball machines are common in almost every other major sport and relatively new to soccer. Sports Attack's position is that advanced skills can take weeks of conventional player-to-player training to reach the repetition count a machine reaches in thirty minutes of practice.

Ball Delivery

The Feed Chute and the Ring the Ball Leaves Through

The ball drops down a feed chute that carries it into the throwing head on a consistent line, so the entrance is the same on ball one and ball two hundred. The feed is long enough that the coach loads from a standing position beside the machine. Wheel guards sit over the throwing wheels for players and coaches working near the head.

  • Ball feed chute for smooth, consistent entrance into the throwing head
  • Long ball feed keeps the coach upright while loading
  • Wheel guards protect players and coaches
  • Takes #3, #4 and #5 balls with no wheel change
  • Concave wheels conform to the ball surface across all three sizes

Two Wheel Speeds Are the Whole Shot Vocabulary

Each of the two DC motors has its own speed control, and the gap between the two settings is what puts spin on the ball. Match them for a driven ball with no spin, split them for a bending cross, then lock the setting and run the drill. Location control is instant, so a session moves from a rolling ball to a high arching ball without breaking rhythm.

  • Shots: rolling, bouncing, driving, left and right ball spin and high arching
  • Location control is instant
  • Spin type, height and direction lock into place for repetition
  • Sports Attack rates delivery at 75+ mph and 70+ yards
  • Rear handle assembly plays the ball to any point across the length or width of the field

Moving 127 Pounds Between Drills and Into a Vehicle

The rear handle tips the machine onto its transporting wheels, which are heavy-duty and wide tread for grass fields, synthetic turf and ground that is damp or uneven. Six integrated handles are built into the frame for a firm grip when two people lift. For the drive home the battery and the rear leg assembly disconnect, which is how a 127 lb machine goes into an SUV.

The Two Sports Attack Soccer Machines

Sports Attack builds the soccer line in two sizes. Each carries its own published speed and distance rating, and that rating is what points a program to one machine or the other.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Sports Attack rates the machine at 75+ mph and a distance of 70+ yards. Both are published figures for this machine and both are set on the machine by wheel speed, so the coach dials in whatever the drill calls for below the top of the range.
Sizes #3, #4 and #5. The throwing wheels are concave and conform to the surface of the ball, so all three sizes run through the same head with no parts to swap.
Sports Attack lists rolling, bouncing, driving, left and right ball spin and high arching shots. In practice that covers cross kicks, indirect free kicks and penalty kicks, and the machine can also be used to start a drill with a difficult ball entry.
Two electronically controlled variable speed DC motors drive the throwing wheels, and each motor's speed is set independently. A speed difference between the two wheels produces spin; matching them produces a ball with no spin. That is the mechanism behind a realistic curve and bend.
Six bearings carry the throwing head through a full 180° rotation, which gives a 360° variable spin plane. Rotating the head moves the plane the spin acts in, so the same two wheel speeds can produce topspin, backspin or sidespin depending on where the head is set.
The battery is a Lithium 24Ah, 12VDC unit. Charge time is 2.75 hours and Sports Attack rates a full charge at approximately 4 hours of run time. The battery sits in a rubber-padded battery box that protects it from impact and vibration and carries an LED Power Display.
That is one of the uses Sports Attack calls out. Direction, speed and distance can be changed instantly for specific goalkeeper work, and the machine can deliver at ground level or in the air at any height. Sports Attack describes the keeper application as reacting to power kicks and close-range shots and anticipating attacking players on cross and corner kicks.
Tip it back on the rear handle and roll it. The transporting wheels are heavy-duty and wide tread, which is what Sports Attack points to for grass fields, synthetic turf and fields that are damp or uneven. The frame also has six integrated handles for a firm grip when the machine has to be carried.
Sports Attack states that the battery and the rear leg assembly are easily disconnected for transport in an SUV. Assembled, the machine weighs 127 lbs with a footprint of 29" W x 37.25" H x 30" D. Measure your cargo opening against that footprint before a road trip.
10" in diameter and 4" wide. They are concave, precision-balanced and white. The concave face conforms to the ball surface, which Sports Attack cites for gripping surface and for reduced slippage and wear on the ball and the machine.
Yes. The long ball feed is built for it, so the coach feeds from beside the machine while giving instruction and feedback. The rear handle assembly lets the same coach play the ball to any location across the length or width of the field.
Sports Attack covers material and workmanship as well as wear components (throwing wheels, controllers and motors) for two years for residential and institutional buyers and one year for commercial buyers, from the date of original purchase based on the serial number and date codes on the unit. Full warranty terms are on the warranty tab.
