Sweat Kingdom · Barrel Saunas · The Sweat Barrel
Handcrafted in East Idaho from highest-quality red cedar. Three sizes covering 2–6 people. Heater options reach 110–230°F in 45–90 minutes depending on the configuration you choose. Indoor or outdoor.
The Sweat Barrel is a traditional sauna designed for efficiency. The barrel shape minimizes interior volume relative to seating capacity, which means the heater hits operating temperature faster and the cabin holds heat through longer sessions. Three sizes — Regular, Large, and XL — cover everything from a couple to a six-person group. Two heater families (Harvia KIP and HUUM Drop) at multiple wattages let you size the electrical install to your space rather than overbuying. Made in the USA with a 3-year warranty.
A barrel cross-section seats the same people in less air volume than a square cabin. Less volume means faster heat-up — 45–90 minutes to operating temperature depending on size and target temperature — and lower running cost across daily use.
Highest-quality red cedar, sourced for the build. Red cedar naturally resists moisture and decay, enhances heat retention through low thermal conductivity, and produces the cedar scent that defines an authentic sauna. Handcrafted, not flat-packed from offshore stock.
Harvia KIP (6kW or 8kW) or HUUM Drop (6kW or 9kW). Pick the heater that matches your size choice and your electrical service — 6kW units run on 30A, 8kW on 40A, 9kW on 50A.
Smaller interior volume per seat means faster heat-up. The difference between 45 minutes and 90 minutes depends on your size and temperature target, but barrels are categorically quicker than cube saunas of the same capacity.
Regular (6'×4'), Large (6'×6'), and XL (6'×7') aren't marketing tiers — they're meaningful capacity steps. Pick the footprint your space and group size actually require.
The cedar shell handles outdoor exposure. Same unit, same warranty, whether you put it on a patio or in a basement.
Handcrafted in East Idaho. Standard 3-year warranty. Domestic build means parts and service are local.
The Sweat Barrel is built one cabin at a time in East Idaho. Highest-quality red cedar, selected for the build — natural moisture and decay resistance, low thermal conductivity for heat retention, and the authentic cedar aroma every traditional sauna session carries.
A barrel cross-section seats the same number of people in less interior air volume than a square cabin. Less air to heat means 45–90 minute heat-up depending on size and target temperature — and lower running cost across daily use. The curved walls also reflect heat down toward the benches more effectively than flat planes do.
Harvia KIP (6kW or 8kW) for the classic Finnish heater approach, or HUUM Drop (6kW or 9kW) for the modern Estonian-designed option. 6kW units run on 30A, 8kW on 40A, 9kW on 50A — pick the wattage that fits the breaker you have rather than upgrading the panel.
Three barrel sizes. Same construction, same heater options — choose the footprint that fits your space and seating needs.
Two heater families. Wattage and electrical service determine which fits your install.
30A breaker, 10/2 wire gauge, hardwired connection. The everyday workhorse — proven Finnish heater technology in the most common wattage class.
40A breaker, 8/2 wire gauge, hardwired. Steps up to handle the Large and XL footprints, faster heat-up under cold-start conditions.
30A breaker, 10/3 wire gauge, hardwired. HUUM's modern Estonian-designed heater — clean profile and a different aesthetic from the Harvia.
50A breaker, 6/3 wire gauge, hardwired. The high-output option — fastest heat-up across the lineup, paired well with the XL footprint.
Two to three people. Standard tooling: power drill, rubber mallet, hammer, measuring tape, and a skill saw or table saw.
Stand the staves on the base supports and ring them with the included bands. Install the front and rear face panels with the tempered glass door pre-installed.
Mount the cedar interior benches. Set the Harvia KIP or HUUM Drop heater per configuration and load sauna stones. Hardwired electrical connection by a licensed electrician.
Verify all bands are torqued to spec, door swings cleanly, and bench mounts are secure. Run a heater burn-in cycle per the manufacturer's instructions. Total assembly: 3–4 hours with 2–3 people.
Barrels have less interior air volume per seat than cube cabins of the same capacity. Less volume to heat means faster heat-up (45–90 minutes) and lower running cost across daily use. The curved walls also reflect heat down toward the benches more effectively.
Regular (6'×4') is the right footprint for one or two people. Large (6'×6') is the most popular size for households running group sessions, with room for 4–6. XL (6'×7') maximizes interior depth for the largest groups or for users who want to lie down across the bench.
Both are excellent. Harvia KIP is the classic Finnish heater — proven, widely supported, ubiquitous parts. HUUM Drop is the modern Estonian-designed option with a cleaner aesthetic. Pick by your electrical service (6kW = 30A, 8kW = 40A, 9kW = 50A) and your visual preference.
