Theragun percussion massage routines for basketball can be very beneficial for players of any skill level. By stimulating the lymph system, the massage helps to reduce inflammation and pain in the joints. Additionally, with regular use, percussive massage can help players maintain their mobility and performance.
To reap the benefits of this type of massage, follow along with our basketball specific Theragun regime.

Method:
Whether it be training or on court performances, DOMS is a common symptom of playing basketball. To help relieve muscle soreness, take one of the larger massage gun attachments and put your Theragun percussion massager to work.
To begin, target the back, shoulders, and chest with one of the three speed settings - 1750, 2100, or 2400ppm. Move the massage head over each area using a slow sweeping motion. Begin with the less tender regions and progressively move towards tension or areas of most discomfort.
The glutes and legs are next.
Start in the small of your back, move towards the glutes, and continue on down the back of the hamstrings. Target each muscle group's origin and insertion points, to be sure you are maximizing the effectiveness of a deep tissue massage. Finish on the quadriceps and finally the calves.
Take no more than 30 seconds to a minute in each area. If niggles remain, you can always administer another round of percussive therapy later in the day.

To relieve any tension or soreness around the knee, first take the wedge attachment and target the entire length of the IT bands. Run the massage head up and down a few times, making sure to pay particular attention to the point of the hip and the outer side of the top of the knee.
Swap the wedge for the dampener or supersoft attachment and finish this area by working on the muscles that support the knee joint - including the hamstring, tibialis, and quadricep muscles.

Finish off your NBA massage gun routine with a quick blast of the hands and feet. Set the gun to the highest speed setting and, like we did with the ankle, just touch the massage head to the top of the skin.
Be sure to massage the entire sole of the foot and both sides of the hand, bringing flood flow into both areas.
