Chattanooga Intelect Mobile 2 RPW - Shockwave Therapy System

The Chattanooga Intelect Mobile 2 RPW Shockwave Therapy System is the portable radial pressure wave unit in Chattanooga's range. A compressor sits inside an 8.2 kg benchtop housing and drives a pneumatic R-SW handpiece, in which a projectile is fired down a guiding tube against a transmitter head held on the skin. Pulses are triggered from the handpiece itself, and pressure, frequency and pulse count are read from an illuminated display on the front panel.

The figure to plan a room around is the pressure-dependent frequency ceiling. The R-SW handpiece runs to a maximum of 21 Hz between 1.0 and 4.0 bar, 15 Hz at 4.6 bar and 12 Hz at 5.0 bar, and the V-ACTOR handpiece runs to 31 Hz between 1.4 and 3.0 bar, 22 Hz at 3.8 bar and 13 Hz at 5.0 bar. A session at the top of the pressure range therefore delivers fewer pulses per second than one in the middle of it, which is the trade the portable unit makes against its trolley-mounted sibling.

The housing measures 490 x 290 x 400 mm and draws a maximum of 200 VA from 100 to 240 VAC, so the unit runs from any standard outlet it meets. Chattanooga backs the control device for two years from the date of original consumer purchase, one year less than the trolley-mounted Intelect RPW 2 carries, with two years or three million shocks on the handpiece and one year or one million shocks on transmitters. The unit ships new, so all three terms run from your purchase as the original consumer purchaser.

Why the Frequency Ceiling Moves With Pressure

Pressure sets the ceiling on how fast the handpiece can pulse, and that behaviour sits alongside the weight and the footprint, the two handpieces that mount on the unit, and what the whole machine draws from the wall when a practice settles on a radial platform.

01

Frequency Is Tied to Pressure

The R-SW handpiece runs 1.0 to 4.0 bar at a maximum of 21 Hz, 4.6 bar at a maximum of 15 Hz, and 5.0 bar at a maximum of 12 Hz. The V-ACTOR handpiece runs 1.4 to 3.0 bar at up to 31 Hz, 3.8 bar at up to 22 Hz and 5.0 bar at up to 13 Hz. The trolley-mounted Intelect RPW 2 holds a flat 1 to 21 Hz across its whole pressure range, so a practice that works at the top of the bar range gets more pulses per second out of that machine.

02

8.2 kg With the Compressor Inside

Control device weight is 8.2 kg and the housing is 490 x 290 x 400 mm, which is 19.3 x 11.4 x 15.7 in. Portability is what puts this model ahead of the RPW 2 for a clinician working across two sites, so measure the case you plan to carry it in against the larger figure. The compressor sits inside that same housing, so nothing trails the unit except the mains lead and the handpiece cable.

Two Handpieces That Swap in Seconds

The R-SW therapy handpiece weighs 510 g and the optional V-ACTOR II vibration handpiece 370 g. Both connect through a standard handpiece connector with a red dot alignment mark, so a swap between them takes seconds. Service life is approximately 5 million shocks for the R-SW and approximately 5 million pulses for the V-ACTOR.

200 VA From Any Mains Supply

Input is 100 to 240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz, maximum 200 VA, fuse T4AL/250 VAC. Ingress protection is IPX1 on the control device and IPX0 on the handpieces. Operating range is 10 to 40 deg C, storage 0 to 60 deg C and frost free, humidity 5 to 95 percent non-condensing. Control device service life is approximately 3,500 hours.

Ownership

The Two-Year Term Covers the Control Device Only

A clinic reads the contraindication list and the hearing protection note first, then works down through the gel, the wear parts and the two-year term on the control device before it commits to a radial platform.

01

About 3,500 Hours on the Control Device

Service life is approximately 3,500 hours on the control device and approximately 5 million shocks on the R-SW handpiece, and the machine runs from 100 to 240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz, drawing a maximum of 200 VA through a T4AL/250 VAC fuse.

02

A Contraindication List to Read First

Malignant tumours in the treatment area, a fetus in the treatment area, unexplained calf pain, wounds and infected areas sit among the contraindications, and the full list runs in the user manual.

03

Hearing Protection for Both of You

Chattanooga recommends that the user and the patient wear suitable hearing protection, so keep two sets with the machine if it travels between sites.

04

Two Years on the Control Device

Two years on the control device from the date of original consumer purchase, two years or three million shocks on the handpiece, one year or one million shocks on transmitters.

05

Everything Reads on the Front Panel

Pressure, frequency and pulse count show on an illuminated display on the front panel, and the kit ships with the R-SW CD user manual. USB export and the Intelect Connect App belong to the Intelect RPW 2.

06

Pressure Runs 1 to 5 Bar

Compressed air output runs 1 to 5 bar on the R-SW handpiece, with the frequency ceiling stepping down as pressure climbs. The 0.1 bar power increment belongs to the trolley-mounted Intelect RPW 2.

07

Eight Named Clinical Settings

Orthopedics, rheumatology, physical medicine, physiotherapy, acupuncture, athletic training, podiatry and chiropractic care are the named user settings. Chattanooga sells a separate Intelect Vet line for veterinary work.

08

Gel and Wear Parts

Conductor transmission gel in a 250 ml bottle is the coupling medium. Projectiles, guiding tubes, sealing sets and the shaft cushion are wear parts serviced by the R-SW revision kit.

In detail

Console and handpiece

A Trigger on the Handpiece and a Lit Display

Pulses are triggered by a mechanism on the R-SW handpiece itself, and the front panel shows pressure, frequency and pulse count on an illuminated display. Mode is single shock or continuous shock, chosen before the handpiece goes on the skin, and the pulse count runs up on the display as the session goes. The compressor is built into the 8.2 kg housing, so the unit travels to a sports field or a second site as a single case, and the whole machine runs from a 100 to 240 VAC supply at a maximum of 200 VA.

Fitment

What Screws Onto an R-SW Handpiece

Transmitters are wear items and the head is chosen by diameter and stated depth of penetration. Nine D-ACTOR family heads pair with the Mobile 2, and all nine also fit the Intelect RPW 2, so a two-unit clinic keeps one set of heads and one stock of spares. The handpiece side works the other way round: the R-SW handpiece, its wear parts, the carry bag and the shaft cushion are Mobile 2 parts, and no FALCON or Intelect Focus part fits this machine.

Questions

Fitting Transmitters and Handpieces to an R-SW Unit

Radial pressure waves, generated pneumatically. A compressor inside the 8.2 kg housing fires a projectile down a guiding tube in the R-SW handpiece, and the projectile strikes the back of a transmitter head held against the skin. Output is metered in bar, 1 to 5 bar, with the frequency ceiling stepping down as pressure climbs. The focused Intelect Focus Shockwave meters in mJ/mm2 and shares no part of this hardware, so nothing carries between the two ranges.

The named user settings run to orthopedics, rheumatology, physical medicine, physiotherapy, acupuncture, athletic training, podiatry and chiropractic care. Whoever operates it should be competent with the handpiece and the mode selection before the first session, and suitable hearing protection is recommended for the operator and the patient. Veterinary work sits outside that list, and Chattanooga sells a separate Intelect Vet product line for it.

The device must not be used with: malignant tumors in the treatment area; a fetus in the treatment area; swollen or inflamed areas or skin eruptions; unexplained calf pain; children, unconscious patients, or those unable to consent; wounds, infected areas, skin tumors, open sores or recent surgical scars. The manual also warns to avoid areas near large nerves, vessels, the spine or the head, and to keep the handpiece moving over the treatment area because concentrated repetitive pulses risk bruising.

Compressed air output is 1 to 5 bar, and the frequency ceiling moves with pressure. R-SW handpiece: 1.0 to 4.0 bar at a maximum of 21 Hz, 4.6 bar at a maximum of 15 Hz, 5.0 bar at a maximum of 12 Hz. V-ACTOR handpiece: 1.4 to 3.0 bar at up to 31 Hz, 3.8 bar at up to 22 Hz, 5.0 bar at up to 13 Hz. Plan a high-pressure session around 12 Hz, because the trolley-mounted Intelect RPW 2 is the machine in this range that holds 21 Hz from bottom to top.

8.2 kg, in a housing of 490 x 290 x 400 mm, which is 19.3 x 11.4 x 15.7 in. Measure a flight case or a car boot against the 490 mm side, because that is the dimension that decides whether the unit travels with you or stays on a bench. Portability is what puts this model ahead of the trolley-mounted RPW 2 for a clinician working across two sites or a sports field, and the built-in compressor means there is no second box to carry.

From the illuminated display on the front panel, which carries all three while the handpiece is running. Pulses are triggered at the handpiece itself, so the operator sets the machine once and then works from the patient side of the bench. The kit ships with the R-SW CD user manual, while USB export and the Intelect Connect App belong to the trolley-mounted Intelect RPW 2.

The standard accessory list runs the Revision Kit R-SW, the Ro40 Beam D-ACTOR transmitter at 15 mm, the D20-S standard D-ACTOR transmitter at 20 mm, a US shockwave power cord, the R-SW handpiece applicator set, the R-SW CD user manual and a 250 ml bottle of Conductor transmission gel. Keep the manual with the machine, because it carries the contraindications and the operating limits the operator works to. Gel is the one item that runs out on a weekly basis, so a busy room orders it by the case alongside the projectile, guiding tube and sealing set that the handpiece consumes.

Nine D-ACTOR family heads: T10, C15, DI15, F15, D20-S, D20-T, D35-S, Atlas and Ro40, all of which share the same screw fitting on the R-SW handpiece. Three of them, D20-S, D35-S and Ro40, are called out for the Mobile 2 by name, and the remaining six pair with the Intelect RPW 2 and the Intelect Mobile 2 RPW alike. Every head that fits one radial machine fits the other, so a clinic running both buys one set of heads and keeps one shelf of spares. Confirm with Chattanooga if a particular head is central to how your practice works.

No. The Mobile 2 takes only the R-SW handpiece set and the V-ACTOR II handpiece set. The FALCON belongs to the Intelect RPW 2, and its short-shaft revision kit holds FALCON parts that will not service an R-SW handpiece. Transmitter heads cross between the two machines, but handpieces and their internals stay with the machine they were built for. Name the machine and the handpiece, R-SW or FALCON, when you order service parts and we will confirm them against the unit on your floor.

The V-ACTOR II handpiece set, with a 31 Hz ceiling, running the V25 and V40 transmitters. The Intelect RPW 2 takes the V-ACTOR HF, which runs 1 to 50 Hz. The V-ACTOR HF is built for the trolley-mounted machine, and the two handpieces differ in ceiling even where a transmitter will mate with both, so a vibration handpiece is ordered against the machine it will live on.

Two years on the device from the date of original consumer purchase, two years or three million shocks on the handpiece, whichever occurs first, and one year or one million shocks on shock transmitters. The trolley-mounted Intelect RPW 2 carries three years on its control device, so the portable unit gives up a year of cover in exchange for its 8.2 kg. Buying new makes you the original consumer purchaser, so all three clocks start with your purchase. Excluded are parts or labour furnished by anyone other than the company, the selling dealer or a certified company service technician, and consumables.

Approximately 3,500 hours for the control device, approximately 5 million shocks for the R-SW handpiece and approximately 5 million pulses for the V-ACTOR handpiece. The revision kit exists to replace the projectile, guiding tube and sealing set inside the handpiece well before those limits arrive, and the shaft cushion is the other part that goes in normal use.

Same hardware either way, and the same standard accessory list. Buying new makes you the original consumer purchaser, so all three warranty terms run their full length from the date of your purchase: two years on the device, two years or three million shocks on the handpiece, one year or one million shocks on transmitters. On the open-box unit the remaining term depends on the individual machine, so tell us which one you are looking at and we will read the R-SW handpiece shock counter and check the carton against the standard accessory list before anything ships.

Input is 100 to 240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz, a maximum of 200 VA, through a T4AL/250 VAC fuse, so the unit runs from any standard outlet it meets on the road. Ingress protection is IPX1 on the control device and IPX0 on the handpieces, the operating range is 10 to 40 deg C, storage is 0 to 60 deg C and frost free, and humidity runs 5 to 95 percent non-condensing. Conductor transmission gel in a 250 ml bottle is the coupling medium, and the projectile, guiding tube, sealing set and shaft cushion are the wear parts the R-SW revision kit replaces.
