Radial pressure waves, generated ballistically. A compressor drives a projectile down a guiding tube inside the FALCON handpiece, the projectile strikes the back of the transmitter head, and the head passes the pressure wave into whatever it is held against. A focused machine such as the Intelect Focus Shockwave meters its output in mJ/mm2 instead of bar, and the two ranges share no parts.

Physical therapists, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, chiropractors, osteopaths, podiatrists and medical doctors. Those are the clinicians it is built for, working from the FALCON handpiece and the on-board protocol library.

The device must not be used where there is: brain or spinal column in the treatment area; any body part during pregnancy; direct application over cancerous tumors or malignant lesions; polyneuropathy areas, particularly in diabetic patients; treatment within six weeks of a local cortisone injection; haemophilia, thrombosis, deep vein thrombosis or coagulation disorders; a patient taking anticoagulants; neoplastic tissues or space-occupying lesions; reduced thermal sensitivity, unless a physician is notified; or proximity to large vessels, the spinal column or the head, the face excepted. The FALCON accepts A6, T10, C15, DI15, F15, D20-S, D35-S, D20-T, Ro40 and R15, plus the Peri-Actor, Spine-Actor and Atlas heads. The head is chosen by diameter and depth of penetration. The cased set of nine holds the A6, T10, C15, Ro40, DI15, F15, D20-S, D20-T and D35-S, from the 6 mm A6 point to the 35 mm D35-S, in steel, ceramic, titanium and Teflon, and every head in it also pairs with the Intelect Mobile 2 RPW.

Three terms run at once: three years (36 months) on the control device from the date of original consumer purchase; two years or three million shocks on the handpiece, whichever occurs first, valid only where the handpiece is revised every one million shocks; and one year or one million shocks on shock transmitters. Exclusions include parts or labour furnished by anyone other than Chattanooga, the selling dealer or a certified company service technician.

The RPW 2 ships with 8.5 oz (250 ml) Conductor transmission gel, the Ro40 Beam D-ACTOR transmitter at 15 mm, the D20-S standard D-ACTOR transmitter at 20 mm, the Revision Kit Falcon Handpiece Short Shaft, a power cord and a USB drive. The revision kit holds two projectiles, two short guiding tubes, two O-ring sets and an O-ring guide for the revision every one million shocks that renews the projectile, guiding tube and O-rings inside the handpiece. The optional V-ACTOR HF vibration handpiece set is sold separately.

The trolley stands 43.31 in. high on a 16.15 x 16.54 in. footprint, or 420 x 410 x 1140 mm. The device weighs 64 lb (29 kg) on its own and 72 lb (32 kg) in the standard configuration with one handset. Power is 120 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz, 350 VA, Class I, Type B, conforming to EN/IEC 60601-1, CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.601.1 and UL 60601-1, with operation at 10 to 40 deg C and 30 to 75 percent humidity and storage at 0 to 60 deg C. Keep portable RF communications equipment at least 30 cm (12 in.) away, and hold the room at 35 percent relative humidity or more for ESD.

Yes, by two routes. Bluetooth runs 2400 MHz to 2483.5 MHz, and a USB drive ships in the kit, with the Intelect Connect App moving patient data from the device to a PC for reports and sharing across Chattanooga devices.

The limits that govern a session: offer the patient hearing protection before each use; do not apply more than 300 shocks to the same spot; interrupt therapy after a maximum of 6000 pulses to let the transmitter cool; the surface of the transmitter can reach 47 deg C and extended skin contact can cause minor burns; do not trigger pulses unless the transmitter is in contact with the treatment zone. The device must not be used in water, and it is not built for an oxygen-rich environment.

The hardware and the standard accessory list are the same either way. Buying new makes you the original consumer purchaser, so all three warranty terms run their full length from the date of your purchase. On the open-box Intelect RPW 2 the warranty runs from the date of that unit's original consumer purchase.
