Chattanooga TX
The Chattanooga TX Traction Unit is a benchtop mechanical traction unit that mobilizes muscles, joints and ligaments with graduated static, intermittent and cyclic traction, mimicking hands-on therapy with controlled, repeatable forces. A motor winds the cord through a load cell to the belting or cervical applicator and holds the pull you program. Tension runs 0 to 200 lb (0 to 90 kg) in 1 lb steps, so a cervical pull rises a pound at a time. It is easy to operate, and it comes as the head alone or as a kit with bolsters and belting.
Hold and rest times run 0 to 99 seconds each in 1 second steps inside a traction period of 1 to 99 minutes, with 1 to 9 progressive and regressive steps to ramp the pull on and off. Up to 10 user-defined treatment protocols are stored on the high contrast monochrome touch screen, enough for a clinic working from a settled set of cervical and lumbar parameters.
The unit measures 9.5 x 17.5 x 17.5 in. (24 x 45 x 45 cm) and weighs 30 lb (14 kg / 134 N), 40 lb (18 kg / 178 N) shipped. The table, the belting and the cervical applicator are each ordered separately. The head is also known as the Tru-Trac Traction Device.
The head
The TX keeps a measured pull, three modes, per-protocol timers and three safety features on one easy-to-operate panel.
TX in the clinic
A TX head records each patient on a card, bolts on with its own bracket, and runs on 120 V or 230 V.
The range
The Triton runs eighty protocols on a color screen. The Traction Kit supplies this same TX with belting, the cervical device and a flexion stool.
Questions
No. The TX is a benchtop head. The securing bracket ships in the carton, and it bolts the unit to a traction table or a table-mounted traction pedestal. The Galaxy TTET-300, the Galaxy TTET-400, the Triton 6M and the Triton 6E are sold separately and each carries the head.
The TX Patient Interrupt Switch, part 48082. Test its cable before each use.
The carton holds the TX Traction Unit, Patient Data Cards (5), the Patient Interrupt Switch (9 ft cable, shielded, 26 AWG), the Patient Interrupt Switch Hook Kit, the Securing Bracket, the Mains Power Cord (80 in. cable, shielded, 18 AWG) and the User Manual. The belting, the cervical applicator and the table are sold separately.
100 V to 240 V at 50/60 Hz, drawing 75 VA (75 W) and 3.2 A max, Class I, Type B. The unit conforms to ANSI/UL STD 60601-1 and is certified to CAN/CSA Standard C22.2 No. 601.1-M90 w/A2. The head measures 9.5 x 17.5 x 17.5 in. (24 x 45 x 45 cm).
The TX head carries a two-year warranty. Annual factory calibration is required for TX traction units, and the traction cord should be inspected for wear before each use; the replacement cord is part 48031.
Static holds one force for the whole traction period. Intermittent alternates between the set pull and a lower level on the hold and rest timers, each of which you set from 0 to 99 seconds in 1 second steps. Cyclic works the force up and down through the progressive and regressive steps, which run 1 to 9.
Traction is contraindicated for a list that includes structural disease from tumor or infection; vascular compromise; acute strains, sprains, inflammation; joint instability; pregnancy; osteoporosis; hiatus hernia; claustrophobia; and cardiac or pulmonary problems. The clinician running the head must have read all of the instructions before administering treatment, including the full contraindication list.
It is the TX Traction Kit with a flexion stool, with a two-section height-adjustable stool in place of the knee bolster set.
