Osaki | Atlas XL 4D
The Osaki Atlas XL 4D is a 4D massage chair built for a broader frame, and it answers a fit problem before it answers a feature problem. Inside is a single 4D mechanism on an SL-track, the same class of hardware that drives Osaki's other 4D chairs. Everything around that mechanism got bigger, so shoulder width is 26 in., seat width is 23 in., the armrest and calf openings are cut wider, and the legrest drives itself out 11 in. A broader body sits inside the working range of the rollers, where a narrower chair pushes you toward the edges and leaves the rollers tracking the wrong part of your back. Osaki call the whole approach size-accommodating, and the two figures that carry it are the 23 in. seat and the 26 in. shoulders. For comparison, a standard Osaki 4D chair runs a seat around 19 to 20 in. wide, so the Atlas XL adds three to four inches across the part of the chair your hips sit in.
Around that frame you get 48 air cells for full body compression, 20 auto programs with 5 manual programs underneath them, and a smart body scan that maps your back before a program starts. The SL-track runs the rollers in one path from your neck and shoulders through the lower back and down to the hamstrings, where an S-track massage chair would stop where the spine meets the seat. Heat runs at the lumbar and the feet. Your calves sit against 14 air cells and 4 bumpers, your feet against 16 air cells and 6 rollers, so the lower leg gets air, rollers and warmth in the same program. Space saving technology lets the chair recline all the way with 12 in. behind it, the chair weighs 325 lb, and it takes a user up to 280 lb. Closer look
Seat width is 23 in. Shoulder width is 26 in. Both sit on a wider frame in reinforced steel, and those two figures decide how the whole chair feels. A body that fits between the side panels sits square on the track, which puts your spine under the middle of the roller path where the 4D mechanism does its best work. The backrest is extended to match, so a taller torso still has track above the shoulders. To check yourself against it, sit on a dining chair and measure the widest point across your hips, then across your shoulders, and hold both against the 23 in. and 26 in. figures. The frame is rated to a 280 lb user.
The armrest openings are cut wider for the same reason the seat is. An arm that sits loose in the sleeve lets the air cells wrap it and compress along its length. An arm already pressed against the sides has nowhere to go once the cells inflate, so the squeeze arrives as pressure against the frame. Your armrest also carries the quick side control panel, so you change intensity and programs under your hand while the 4D rollers keep working, with a USB-C port within reach for a phone you left charging.
The legrest drives out 11 in., split 6 in. at the foot section and 5 in. at the calf section, so a long leg reaches the foot rollers with your calves still seated in their sleeves. Inside the legrest your calves press against 14 air cells and 4 bumpers. Under your soles, 6 foot rollers work alongside 16 more air cells, and your feet are one of the two places the chair puts heat. The calf openings are cut wide here the same way the armrests are.
