Touch-Screen Softball Pitching

Sports Attack Elite eHack Attack Softball Pitching Machine

The Elite eHack Attack puts a softball staff's whole pitch library on a 12" touch screen. Seven standard pitches are already loaded, including the riser, the drop and the screwball to both sides, and the operator changes speed, spin and location from the screen with no throwing head adjustments to make between hitters. Sports Attack lists the speed at 80+ MPH and lists the machine under Fungo as pitches only.

Underneath the software is the three-wheel Hack Attack head. The wheels grip the softball in three locations, which Sports Attack credits with the machine's control and accuracy, and they leave the ball in full view through the feed and the release. Recovery between pitches is published at less than 8 seconds, and Sports Attack notes that with three wheels it is almost instant.

Running The Machine

Everything Happens On The Screen

Pitches come from four places on the Elite eHack Attack: the pre-set list, your saved favorites, a saved sequence, or a pitch you build yourself. The coach stays at the screen through all of them.

📱
Interface
An oversized 12" touch screen monitor runs the software. From it you reach standard default pitch selection, favorite pitches, favorite sequences, and manual mode. Efficiency comes from the same place: the touch screen picks the pitch, and the throwing head stays where it is.

Standard (pre-set/default) Pitches
Seven standard pitches are instantly accessible for quick, simple operation: fastball, change-up, heater, riser, drop, and screwball right and left. Speed and spin on any of them adjust to the requirement of the drill or the skill of the hitter.

🎛️
Manual Mode
Manual mode turns the Elite eHack Attack into a basic Hack Attack, with access to each motor so you can develop the pitch you are after. Location shifts between pitches using arrows on the screen, and any pitch or sequence you build here saves to favorites.

Utilities and Settings
Settings carry the skill level for standard pitches (adult or youth), MPH or KMH, language, auto shut-down time, buzzer volume, screen brightness, and a password screen lock-out. Utilities carry machine diagnostics, error code definitions, software updates from the Sports Attack site, and a lifetime pitch counter.

The controller rides on the machine

The touch screen mounts to the machine, so the person calling pitches works from the same spot through a full round. Speed, spin and location all change from the screen, and the throwing head needs no adjustment between one pitch and the next.

  • Oversized 12" touch screen monitor for navigation through the software
  • Four ways into a pitch: standard default selection, favorite pitches, favorite sequences, manual mode
  • Efficiency, in Sports Attack's terms: pitch selection on the touch screen, no throwing head adjustments
  • A screen lock-out in Settings puts a password in front of machine operations

Favorite Pitches & Favorite Sequences

Save the pitch, then save the at-bat

Once a pitch is fine-tuned it saves to your favorites file from either the manual mode screen or the standard pitches screen. Strung together, saved pitches become a sequence, which is how you challenge the mechanics of a hitter or replicate a specific pitcher you are about to face.

  • 20 pitches save to the favorites file and recall in any order at any time
  • Spin, speed and location of a favorite can be altered on the favorites screen and re-saved
  • A "last pitch" option calls up the pitch you were throwing before the machine was powered down
  • A sequence holds as many as 10 pitches per sequence, with four run types: "auto" runs the saved order once, "repeat" runs it continuously, "random" randomizes the list, and "manual" lets you change the order as desired
  • One pitch inside a sequence can be modified for speed, spin and location and re-saved within that sequence

Three wheels, in full view of the hitter

The three-wheel design leaves the softball visible through the feeding motion, acceleration and release, the way it looks coming off a live pitcher. The hitter picks up when to stride and the angle of release from the machine itself. Getting it off the field is a matter of tilting it, un-socketing the legs and rolling it.

  • Complete ball vision, which Sports Attack ties to a realistic sense of timing
  • Gripping in three locations for control and accuracy
  • Two heavy-duty transporting wheels, separate from the throwing wheels
  • Heavy enough to absorb recoil, with an extra wide tripod base underneath
  • High tensile heat-treated alloy, weather-resistant aluminum casting throwing head over a powder-coated rust-proof steel frame

Frequently Asked Questions

The published speed for the Elite eHack Attack Softball Pitching Machine is 80+ MPH. Under Fungo the spec sheet reads pitches only.
The Standard (pre-set/default) Pitches screen holds fastball, change-up, heater, riser, drop, and screwball right and left. All seven are instantly accessible, and the speed and spin of any one of them can be customized to the drill or to the hitter.
The location of any standard pitch can be modified within the strike zone or the enlarged strike zone that stands in for a two strike count. In manual mode, location adjusts between pitches using arrows on the screen.
Sports Attack publishes recovery time as less than 8 seconds, adding that with three wheels it is almost instant.
The favorites file holds 20 pitches, and any of them can be called up in any order at any time. Pitches save to favorites from the manual mode screen or the standard pitches screen, and from the favorites screen you can alter spin, speed and location and re-save.
The favorites screen carries a last pitch option that calls up the pitch you were throwing before the machine was powered down, so you continue where you left off.
A sequence holds as many as 10 pitches per sequence and saves to the favorite sequences screen. Four run types are available for every sequence: auto selects the pitches once in the order you saved them, repeat pitches the sequence in order continuously, random randomizes the list, and manual selection lets you change the order as desired. A single pitch inside a sequence can be modified for speed, spin and location and re-saved within that sequence.
Manual mode gives the machine the behavior of a basic Hack Attack, with access to each motor so you can develop each desired pitch yourself. Individual pitches or whole sequences built there save to favorites for instant access.
Yes. Settings include a skill level for the standard pitches, either adult or youth.
Settings include a screen lock-out option that establishes a password before machine operations can be accessed.
Utilities holds machine diagnostics and error code definitions. Software updates are made in Utilities and download from the Sports Attack site. Utilities also carries a counter that tracks the number of pitches thrown during the life of the unit, which is a straightforward way to track how hard a machine has worked.
The three-wheel design lets the hitter see the ball clearly and fully through the feeding motion, acceleration and release, the way it looks from a live pitcher. Sports Attack describes the result as an actual live-arm sense of timing and location, with the stride and the angle of release visible from the machine.
Tilt the machine, un-socket the legs, and roll it on two heavy-duty transporting wheels that are separate from the throwing wheels. The machine is heavy enough to absorb recoil, and the extra wide tripod base is there for stability on typical playing surfaces.
Sports Attack stands behind material and workmanship as well as all wear components, including throwing wheels, controllers and motors, for two years for residential and institutional buyers and one year for commercial buyers, from the date of original purchase based on the serial number and date codes on the unit.
