Jugs 18-Baseball Lite-Flite Feeder

Jugs writes the ball rule for this feeder in three words: only Lite-Flite Baseballs. A leather Pearl out of the dugout bucket is outside the specification, and so is a dimpled Sting-Free ball. The drum holds 18 Lite-Flite Baseballs, releases a pitch every 6 seconds, and Jugs states no exception to what goes in it. That restriction is the single most useful thing to know before ordering, because it is also what separates the five Jugs feeders from one another.

The rest is quickly told. This 15-pound attachment is durable lightweight steel, and Jugs states it is easy to carry and will not weigh your pitching machine down. It attaches directly to the pad bracket on the Jugs Lite-Flite Machine without additional tools. It needs no supply of its own: the feeder taps into the same power source used for the Lite-Flite Machine. Jugs publishes no voltage and no dimensions for the 18-Ball Baseball Lite-Flite Feeder, and this page does not invent either.

Why a Light-Ball Feeder Takes One Ball and No Other

Each of the five Jugs feeders carries a ball restriction, and they are not the same restriction. This is the page where all five are set out.

Only Lite-Flite Baseballs
Jugs publishes the compatibility line as an absolute: only Lite-Flite Baseballs. This feeder is built for the Lite-Flite Machine, and the Lite-Flite Machine is a light-ball machine, so the whole assembly is sized and set up around a light ball. A regulation leather baseball is a different object in weight and hardness, and Jugs states no allowance for one anywhere on the product page. Where a manufacturer draws a line that hard, the honest advice is to hold the line: load Lite-Flite Baseballs and nothing else.

🥎
The Softball Feeder Is Just as Strict
Jugs builds a matching 14-Softball Lite-Flite Feeder, and it takes only Lite-Flite Softballs. The two feeders are the same 15-pound steel part with a different drum: 18 baseballs here, 14 softballs there. Neither one crosses over, so a program that hits both baseballs and softballs off a Lite-Flite Machine needs both feeders.
14 softballs
The Carousel Feeders Take Regulation Balls
The rule flips on the Carousel Feeder and the Combo Carousel Feeder. Those two are specified by circumference: 9 in. circumference regulation JUGS Practice Baseballs, or 11 in. and 12 in. circumference regulation weight JUGS Practice Softballs. That is the practical difference between the Lite-Flite feeders and the carousels, and it usually decides which one a program buys.
9 in. and 12 in.

The Lacrosse Feeder Names No Ball Line
The fifth feeder, the 24-Ball Lacrosse Feeder, holds 24 lacrosse balls, and Jugs names no particular ball line for it. That is the one restriction in the group written loosely, and it is worth reading as written: a capacity and a sport, without a branded ball requirement attached.

What Goes In, and What Comes Out

The ball

Eighteen Lite-Flite Baseballs, Nothing Else

Buy the balls with the feeder and the question never comes up again. Jugs sells Lite-Flite Baseballs by the dozen, and eighteen is a drum and a half, so two dozen covers a full fill with spares for the ones that end up under the net. Keep them in their own bucket. The most common way a light-ball feeder gets a ball it should not have is a shared bucket at a practice where two machines are running, and the fix costs nothing.

  • Holds 18 Lite-Flite Baseballs
  • Compatible with Lite-Flite Baseballs only, as published by Jugs
  • 18 balls at one every 6 seconds is 1 minute 48 seconds per fill
  • Balls are sold separately from the feeder
18 baseballs Lite-Flite only 6 seconds
On the machine

Fifteen Pounds on the Pad Bracket

Jugs states that the feeder attaches directly to the pad bracket without additional tools, and that the 15-pound attachment is easy to carry and will not weigh your pitching machine down. Both halves of that matter here. The Lite-Flite Machine is a portable machine that gets carried to a field and set down, and a feeder hung off it becomes part of what you carry. Fifteen pounds of steel with no tools at either end keeps that a one-person job, and the feeder comes off as fast as it goes on when the machine has to go back in the car.

Five Jugs Ball Feeders

Every Jugs feeder releases a ball every 6 seconds. What separates them is the machine they bolt to, the ball they take and how many they hold. This is the baseball drum for the Lite-Flite Machine.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Jugs publishes the compatibility as only Lite-Flite Baseballs, with no exception listed. If you want a feeder that takes regulation practice baseballs, the Jugs Carousel Feeder is specified for 9 in. circumference regulation JUGS Practice Baseballs.
18 baseballs, released at one every 6 seconds, which works out to 1 minute 48 seconds of pitches per fill. That run time is arithmetic on the two published figures, not a Jugs specification.
The Jugs Lite-Flite Machine, and Jugs names no other. It attaches directly to the pad bracket without additional tools. The machine is sold separately.
No. Jugs states the feeder taps into the same power source used for your Lite-Flite Machine, and that only one power source is needed to run both. No voltage figure is published for the feeder on its own.
15 pounds. Jugs states the attachment is durable, easy to carry, and will not weigh your pitching machine down. No dimensions are published.
Lite-Flite Baseballs are sold by the dozen. Eighteen balls fills the drum once, so two dozen gives you a full fill plus spares.
We recommend one. The feeder sits alongside the machine and takes batted balls in the same line of fire, so a Lite-Flite protective screen covers both. Note the provenance: this is our recommendation, not a statement on the current Jugs product page.
Yes, the 14-Softball Lite-Flite Feeder. It is the same 15-pound steel attachment with a 14-ball drum, and it takes Lite-Flite Softballs only. The two do not cross over, so a program hitting both needs both.
The feeder alone. Jugs states plainly that the Lite-Flite Machine is sold separately and balls are sold separately, and lists nothing else in the box.
